For the second straight summer, the NBCUniversal service will increase its subscription prices.
Since its launch on July 15, 2020, NBCUniversal’s Peacock has slowly, but steadily built itself into a solid streaming service, in part, by keeping its prices low. Over the course of its nearly four years, it has only increased its subscription price once, when it raised its monthly rates $1 and $2 respectively in honor of its third anniversary last July. Now, it appears that NBCU is making something of an annual tradition of the practice as on Monday, the company announced that it would again be raising prices in July.
Key Details: For the second straight July, Peacock is set to increase its prices on both subscription tiers. Over the course of one year, the price for the service’s ad-supported tier will increase from $4.99 to $7.99 and its ad-free option from $9.99 to $13.99. The platform will also stream every single event from the 2024 Paris Olympics,...

The relationship between Peacock and the Olympics goes back to the launch event for the NBCUniversal streaming service.
In January 2020, with the world mostly oblivious of what was coming just a few months later, NBC executives touted live streams from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as a key selling point for Peacock’s launch.
Of course, the 2020 Olympics would be pushed to 2021 amid the Covid-19 pandemic, but Peacock has carried on, adding more live streams and more live programming at every subsequent Olympics since. In that context, the 2024 Paris Olympics mark a critical juncture for Peacock, with more live streaming coverage (Peacock will have everything, with original streaming shows and simulcasts of the primetime shows), and a bet that the platform is ready, finally, for its Olympic moment at the same time that the games will host its first real post-pandemic showing.

NBC is setting up another reality summer.
The network has unveiled premiere dates for its summer slate including America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, Password, The Wall and Weakest Link.
It’s much the same look as last year, although without the likes of Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge, Dick Wolf’s LA Fire and Rescue and Jimmy Fallon’s That’s My Jam.
Deadline understands that Hot Wheels, which comes from Endemol Shine North America, Workerbee TV and Mattel Television, and docuseries LA Fire and Rescue, have both been canceled. The latter premiered its first season on May 30, 2023 and the former premiered on June 21, 2023.
In terms of That’s My Jam, Deadline revealed that production had been paused in February, understood to be for celebrity scheduling reasons.
New episodes of Weakest Link, essentially season four of the revived series, will kick off the slate on Tuesday April 2 at 9pm, an hour earlier than last year,...

American Ninja Warrior Season 14 is coming to a climax — semifinals begin Monday, July 18! — and the question on everyone’s mind is simple: Will a vet or teen win it all this year? TV Insider has an exclusive first look at the hosts and competitors offering up their opinions. Following what host Matt Iseman calls Season 13’s “teenage invasion,” the younger competitors are back. And, if you ask host Akbar Gbajabiamila, “the greatest thing that the teens brought to Ninja Warrior last year was competitive edge. They really kind of helped raise the game and elevate the game.” Turning to the ninjas themselves, teen Josiah Pippel says, “the vets are trying to hold their ground and the teens are trying to prove themselves.” Along with proving themselves, these teens are starting out in a world that the vets are quite familiar with. As Jesse Labreck points out, “if a vet won...

Hosts Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila are back (with announcer Zuri Hall on the ground) and one thing you can expect is the level of enthusiasm they all bring to the show. “One of the great things is we never know what to expect,” Iseman tells TV Insider. “What’s great is seeing the growth, seeing these athletes mature, and seeing [Ninja Warrior vet] David Campbell still being competitive now that he’s literally almost three times older than our youngest competitors.” Last season, the show lowered the minimum age to 15 for incoming competitors and Iseman said it surprised everyone involved when it unexpectedly raised the stakes for everyone. “We knew...

American Ninja Warrior is back in all its glory for season 14 and longtime co-commentator Akbar Gbajabiamila couldn’t be more hyped. He’ll be joining Matt Iseman, and sideline reporter Zuri Hall once again as fans return to cheer on the athletes. And there’ll be an influx of new energy on the NBC competition series, which opened up the field by lowering the age requirement to ninjas as young as 15. “These athletes have trained so hard in the past year knowing things were going to be back to normal,” Gbajabiamila said. “The veterans are back with a year of experience and time to reflect on how they can better compete with what seems like the unstoppable teenagers.” Early rounds emanate from San Antonio and Los Angeles heading into the national finals in Las Vegas.
