Gold Derby can exclusively reveal the episodes selected by the seven nominees for Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actor as their 2023 Emmys episode submissions.
SEECan Steven Yeun ‘Beef’ up Best Movie/Limited Actor at the Emmys over Evan Peters?
Murray Bartlett won this category just last year for his performance in season one of “The White Lotus.” This year he’s nominated twice: Best Drama Guest Actor for “The Last of Us” and Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actor for “Welcome to Chippendales.” In “Chippendales,” he plays Nick De Noia, the closeted choreographer who clashes with Chippendales founder Steve Banerjee (Best Movie/Limited Actor nominee Kumail Nanjiani) before Nick is murdered. Bartlett submitted for Emmy consideration “Leeches,” the fifth episode of the eight-episode series in which Nick opens a successful Chippendales in New York City and becomes the face of the business on the talk show circuit.

Double Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins is celebrating the latest laurel in his distinguished career: an Emmy nomination for Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. He plays the bewildered father of the titular real life serial killer in the Netflix series co-created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan.
“It’s always a surprise, a pleasant one when it happens,” Jenkins told Deadline of the nomination. “I loved working on the project and it’s nice to see it get some recognition. There’s some wonderful performances and the crew was great; the directors were terrific. Ryan Murphy — who I’m crazy about — he’s been thinking about this and working on this case for years, and I’m happy for him.”

A version of this story about the hairstyling of “Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” first appeared in the Limited Series/Movies issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
One of the great ironies of Jeffrey Dahmer’s existence is that while his apartment stank of, in his words, “rotting meat” (we all know what it really was), his physical appearance was initially anything but shabby. He even had a tidy blond hairdo, which Evan Peters wears as the cannibal serial killer in producer Ryan Murphy’s “Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” for Netflix.
“If you look at a lot of pictures, there were times where Dahmer had darker hair and times that he had these blond highlights and you’re trying to figure out where did these highlights come from?” hair department head Shay Sanford-Fong said. “But a lot of it is in Ryan’s research: When he was in jail,...

When Richard Jenkins was first asked by Ryan Murphy to portray Lionel Dahmer, the father of notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, on Netflix’s “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” he had the same response you probably assume he’d have had. “I went, ‘Oh, god,'” the Emmy winner recalls during a recent webchat with Gold Derby (watch the exclusive video interview above). “And then I read it. [Murphy] said, ‘Well, just read these [first] three episodes.’ And I read them. It was enough for me to say, ‘Oh my gosh, this is really interesting, I’d like to see what happens here.'”

Ryan Murphy and Netflix’s second installment in the Monster anthology will shine the light on Lyle and Erik Menendez. In 1996, the Menendez brothers were convicted of murdering their wealthy parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menéndez, in cold blood. The brothers claimed they killed their parents on August 20, 1989 out of desperation after years of physical abuse by both parents and sexual abuse by their father.
The jury didn’t believe the abuse defense and the brothers were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Netflix hasn’t confirmed any details on the upcoming installment other than the official title – Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story.
The first installment of Monster, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, stars Evan Peters in the titular role. The cast also includes Richard Jenkins as Lionel Dahmer, Molly Ringwald as Shari Dahmer, Michael Beach as Detective Murphy, and Niecy Nash as Glenda Cleveland.

After being one of three actors to win an Emmy for “Mare of Easttown” in 2021, Evan Peters could now triumph for another limited series that can bag a trio of acting victories with Netflix’s “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.”
“Mare” earned its three prizes for Kate Winslet in lead actress and Peters and Julianne Nicholson in their respective supporting acting categories. “Dahmer” — which is the first iteration of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan‘s “Monster” anthology series and stars Peters as the titular serial killer — can now win that same combination of awards: one lead category (for Peters) and both supporting races (for Niecy Nash-Betts and Richard Jenkins).
Of the three “Dahmer” actors, the one best positioned to prevail is probably Peters himself. The 36-year-old performer, who’s in first place in our limited series/TV movie actor odds, has been the presumed frontrunner ever since the...

“Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” has been viewed for more than 1 billion hours, but it also came with a great deal of backlash. Many of the victims’ families claimed they were not contacted — a claim that creator Ryan Murphy denies — and some viewers were upset that the focus was more on Jeffrey Dahmer than the victims.
“I was never interested in Jeffrey Dahmer, the monster. I was interested in what made him. I think that the fact that all of the characters in this are seen as true humans makes some people uncomfortable. I understand that and I try not to have an opinion on that,” he tells Variety. “We always tried to center everything on the victims.”

The intense real-life subject matter of Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story hasn’t detracted folks from tuning into the show. Netflix’s 10-episode drama has accumulated over 500 million hours in views and has been seen in at least 56 million homes since it debuted in September. However, at least once cast member, Richard Jenkins, who plays serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer’s father, Lionel Dahmer, had reservations about joining the series. Ryan Murphy, who is the executive producer, creator, and writer, reached out to Jenkins because he’d penned the role of Lionel for him. The actor’s initial response was guarded at best. “I said, ‘Ugh,’” Jenkins shared with a group of reporters and other invited guests at a recent Q&a held at the Netflix offices in Hollywood. “[Ryan] said, ‘Read it.’ I did, and it immediately interested me. The last thing I thought was a Jeffrey Dahmer ...

Thomas M. Jacobson, the former Milwaukee attorney who represented eight of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims’ families and fought to prevent the serial killer from profiting from his murders, feels Ryan Murphy’s statements regarding funding a memorial is not only too little, too late for the emotional damage his Netflix series cost the families, but absolutely the wrong move.
“The memorial contribution for the Dahmer victims by Ryan Murphy seems likes an afterthought,” Jacobson told TheWrap. “Milwaukee wanted Dahmer memory to disappear so not wanting any remembrance of his mayhem in the community is a given.”
He offered the following alternative: “The only meaningful Dahmer victim family action on Murphy’s part would be a monetary consideration from the Netflix profits for their exploitation and continuing trauma.”

With another 205.33 million hours viewed last week, “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” is Netflix’s No. 2 English-language TV series of all time. Now above “Bridgerton” Season 2, “Dahmer” only ranks behind “Stranger Things 4.” Given the very significant gap, things will likely stay that way.
If you think 200-plus million hours of viewing in one week is a lot, it is. But “Dahmer” did a massive 300 million hours the previous week. In its opening week, “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” shocked by delivering the biggest Week 1 results (196.2 million hours viewed) for any Netflix series on record, English-language or otherwise. “Dahmer” debuted on a Wednesday, giving the Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan drama starring Evan Peters a two-day head start on many other Netflix premieres. With some variation, the streaming service typically premieres projects on Fridays.

Netflix’s “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” earned a whopping 299.84 million hours viewed in its first full week of availability. That performance makes the limited series the second most-watched English-language series in one week’s time behind “Stranger Things 4,” which technically had two larger weeks (335.01 million hours from May 30-June 5 and 301.28 million hours June 27-July 3).
The “English-language” distinction is important here as “Squid Game” is still the streaming service’s overall champ in both single-week and 28-day tallies. Netflix ranks shows and movies overall by their first 28 days; on that chart, “Dahmer” is already ninth (and damn close to eighth) all-time among English-language series. There is still lots of time left for “Dahmer” to climb up this chart:
Week 2 of “Dahmer” was way ahead of Netflix’s No. 2 show from September 26-October 2, “Dynasty: Season 5,” which was runner-up with 44.61 million hours viewed. Season 2 of “Fate: The Winx Saga” was...

Netflix has produced its fair share of true-crime dramas throughout the years, but nothing has been quite as chilling as "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story," which documents the life of the infamous serial killer through intimate vignettes of his troubling life. The 10-episode series, starring Evan Peters, gives viewers a sense of what it was like for Dahmer's family, his victims, and even his neighbors - Glenda Cleveland and Pamela Bass - to watch as his grueling crimes unfolded.
While the show has garnered controversy for glorifying Dahmer's crimes and exploiting the trauma his victims endured, as of Sept. 27, the show is currently Netflix's most-watched title, amassing more than 196 million viewing hours in the past week, per CNN. The hype behind "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" aligns with the actual hysteria that possessed Americans when Dahmer's story was first revealed.
But how much of the show is rooted in fact?...

Netflix's latest true-crime series, "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story," is revisiting the chilling murders of the notorious serial killer. The 10-part limited series delves into Jeffrey's childhood and the psychological behavior that preceded his unnerving string of sexual assaults and murders, which he carried out over a decade before finally getting caught in 1991. Jeffrey horrifically raped, killed, and dismembered 17 known victims, most of whom were underage males of color, between 1978 and 1991.
The Netflix series, from Ryan Murphy, presents a fictionalized version of the true events and is told, in part, through the lens of the victims of the late murderer, portrayed by Evan Peters. Jeffrey's parents - mother Joyce Dahmer (portrayed by Penelope Ann Miller) and father Lionel Dahmer (played by Richard Jenkins) - also play a huge role in the series as it analyzes whether the infamous criminal's emotionally devoid upbringing led to his distorted psyche.

The promotional train for Dahmer may have started late, but the lack of publicity for the series has seemingly resulted in more interest.
Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story beat Netflix records in its first week on the streaming service.
After just five days available, it secured 196.2 million hours of viewership, allowing it to hit the #1 spot in several countries.
The numbers make Dahmer the highest first week of viewership for a series debut on Netflix.
Granted, the numbers were probably helped by the fact that the series dropped on a Wednesday instead of a Friday.

“American Horror Story” veteran Evan Peters will play the title character in “Dahmer,” a new Netflix series that re-teams him once again with “AHS” creator Ryan Murphy.
Watch the brand new “Dahmer” Trailer #2 below to see Evan Peters as Jeffrey Dahmer, who murdered and dismembered seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991.
