In October, newly minted Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade said that TMZ had the potential to become a “huge entertainment studio”.
The network has now unveiled its next TMZ special with the provocatively titled Lamar Odom: Sex, Drugs & Kardashians.
The special will explore the former Laker and Clipper’s troubled relationship with Khloe Kardashian.
Odom was married to Kardashian between 2009 and 2016. He appeared on Keeping Up With The Kardashians and the couple had their own spinoff Khloe & Lamar, although in October 2015, he was hospitalized in a comatose state after being discovered unconscious in Nevada brothel Love Ranch.
TMZ Presents: Lamar Odom: Sex, Drugs & Kardashians features an interview with Odom, who in the trailer (which you can see above), says, “drugs was my girlfriend” and “the stories y’all don’t know is crazy”.
He opens up about his sex addiction and drug use and how it torpedoed his marriage.

New Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade has talked up the potential for TMZ to become a “huge entertainment studio,” setting out his stall at Mipcom Cannes for the first time since he replaced Charlie Collier.
TMZ was acquired last year from then-WarnerMedia, handing Fox control of TMZ’s linear, digital and experiential assets. Terms of the deal weren’t released but TMZ is being valued at less than 50 million, people familiar with the matter said.
“We feel there’s an opportunity for TMZ to be a huge entertainment studio,” said Wade. “21st Century Fox has allowed us to invest and acquire at a time when other networks are consolidating and spending less.”
Wade has already been testing the waters with TMZ-produced content in his former job as reality chief with series such as UFOs: The Pentagon Proof, which aired on Fox...

Fox Corp. aims to rev up the tempo of its digital news, sports and lifestyle offerings now that the company has completed its acquisition of TMZ from WarnerMedia at a price tag estimated at around $50 million.
Fox has acquired all of the company behind the daily syndicated TV shows “TMZ” and “TMZ Live,” which have aired on Fox’s O&o stations since they debuted in 2007 and 2011, respectively. The TMZ production banner was founded in 2005 by Harvey Levin, the former Kcbs-tv Los Angeles correspondent, and the late Telepictures executive Jim Paratore as a division of Warner Bros.’ Telepictures production unit.
Levin will continue to run the company and serve as frontman for the TV shows. In the new configuration, he will report on day-to-day matters to Rob Wade, Fox Entertainment’s president of alternative and specials, and the TMZ entity itself will be added to the portfolio of Fox Entertainment chief Charlie Collier.

Fox's News Corp entertainment division has closed its acquisition of TMZ from WarnerMedia, confirming that founder and managing editor Harvey Levin will continue with the newly situated company.
Terms were not disclosed, but the deal is believed to be worth in the range of $100 million to $125 million.
Fox will now own and operate all of TMZ’s linear, digital and experiential assets, including syndicated magazine programs TMZ and TMZ Live. The TV series had created a connection between Warner and Fox, with both shows airing on 18 network affiliates owned by Fox’s station group. TMZ Sports airs on FS1.
As it has expanded over the past couple of decades, TMZ — whose initials stand for the “thirty-mile zone” around Hollywood– has added branded celebrity tours and casino slot machines to its portfolio. Its digital assets include TooFab.com, TMZ Sports and mother-ship site TMZ.com.

CANNES -- Jim Paratore's ParaMedia has picked up U.S. format rights to hit German game show Beat Your Host! from ProSiebenSat.1 sales arm SevenOne International.
ParaMedia will produce a U.S. version of the show together with Warner Horizon Television, Warner Bros. Television Group's primetime reality programming arm.
The deal, announced Wednesday at MIPTV, follows ABC's recent pickup of Germany's No. 1 entertainment format, Wanna Bet?
Beat Your Host features a contestant going up against a VIP host in a series of competitions ranging from pole vaulting and Ping Pong to who can best spread soft cheese on a sandwich. If the contestant wins, they take home a cash prize. If they lose, the money goes into a pot for the next show's contestant.
Beat Your Host, produced by Raab TV and Brainpool in Germany, had the most successful debut for an entertainment format in the last three years in the territory, grabbing an audience share of up to 30% in the key 14-49 demographic for commercial channel ProSieben.

Hilary Estey McLoughlin has been promoted to president of Telepictures Prods., where she has developed and produced such syndicated shows as "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show". Estey McLoughlin's promotion, which had been expected, means that she now holds the title previously held by Jim Paratore, who last week announced that he was launching a full-service television production company dubbed ParaMedia Inc. with an exclusive overall deal with the Warner Bros. Television Group. Paratore had been president of Telepictures since the company's inception in 1992. Estey McLoughlin, meanwhile, had served as executive vp and general manager since 2002 after having worked her way up through the ranks since joining Lorimar-Telepictures Prods. as director of development in 1989. She will report to Warner Bros. Television Group president Bruce Rosenblum.

Syndication veteran Dick Robertson, who for the past 17 years has served as president of Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, is stepping down from day-to-day management of the division and will take on a new role as senior adviser to the Warner Bros. Television Group. Robertson will now focus on advising Warner Bros. Television Group president Bruce Rosenblum and the TV group on several business, strategic and operational issues and objectives, including current and evolving distribution platforms, programming, sponsorship and production integration scenarios and media sales. A Warners spokesperson said Robertson's replacement is expected to be announced in the coming days but declined comment on who it will be. Jim Paratore, president of Telepictures Prods. and executive vp at WBDTD, had long been considered to take over the top spot once Robertson stepped down, but there has been much speculation in recent months that Paratore is planning to exit the company for another top TV post once his contract expires.

TMZ.com, which has been getting a lot of press recently thanks to its scoop about Mel Gibson's arrest and anti-Semitic remarks early Friday morning, is exploring ways to extend its brand to other media. The entertainment news site, co-owned by sister companies Telepictures Prods. and AOL, could be expanding its brand to such media as syndicated or pay television or wireless, but nothing is definite at this point, said Jim Paratore, president of Telepictures Prods. and executive vp at Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution. "We're not in any formal stage with any of that," he said. "We could do it as a weekly, as syndicated content provided on the Web, on cell phones -- there's a lot of different ways we could go. We're just taking our time."...
Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution on Tuesday announced the first clearance for The Tyra Banks Show, which is launching in syndication in fall 2005. The talker, hosted by supermodel-actress Tyra Banks, has been cleared on NBC affiliate KGW-TV in Portland, Ore., which is the nation's 24th-largest market. "We've had a terrific response from stations," said Jim Paratore, executive vp at WBDTD and president of Telepictures Prods. WBDTD said that Tyra will air at 10 a.m. on KGW's schedule, replacing The Tony Danza Show. Station reps were not available at press time. A Buena Vista Television spokesperson said the distributor is "completely confident" that it will find another station for Tony Danza in Portland and is rumored to be close to announcing many renewals for the freshman talk show. Tyra is produced by Bankable Inc. & Handprint Entertainment in association with Telepictures and distributed by WBDTD.

Mark McGrath, lead singer of the rock band Sugar Ray, is joining Extra in the latest on-air change at syndicated entertainment newsmagazines. McGrath will join Dayna Devon as co-host of the strip, distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, when its 11th season starts Sept. 13. Devon was the sole host of the show, but Jim Paratore, executive vp at Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution and president of Telepictures Prods., said that adding a male co-host was something the producers had been weighing for some time.
Jim Paratore has seen the highs and lows of the syndication business during the past decade in his post as president of Warner Bros.' Telepictures Prods. and as the No. 2 at Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution. On Paratore's watch, Telepictures has expanded into network and cable shows, most notably with the ABC hit The Bachelor, and it has a new talk show success this season in The Ellen DeGeneres Show. On the eve of syndication's annual NATPE convention, which begins Sunday in Las Vegas, Paratore spoke with The Hollywood Reporter's Steve Brennan about the state of syndication and other changes in television.

Sharon Osbourne has missed an important appointment to tape test shows with celebrity guests for her troubled chat program The Sharon Osbourne Show. The mother of three was supposed to be at the Los Angeles studio on Monday - but rang in sick from England on Saturday, telling bosses she would not be in all week. Even though guests and audiences had been booked, Sharon decided she would get in on Friday and Saturday. Sharon's show is set to debut on September 15 but has been beset with problems - booking celebrity guests has proved difficult, with Sean 'P Diddy' Combs being the biggest name attracted to the vehicle. An insider says, "Sharon is a smart, tough businesswoman. She thought her experience with Telepictures would be the same as the one she had with MTV, where they let her do whatever she wanted. Things are not going well." However, Telepictures president Jim Paratore insists, "Our relationship with Sharon has been and continues to be terrific. Sharon went to London to see (daughter) Kelly perform, something that had been the plan for a long time. She got an ear infection and the doctors told her not to fly. Because we're in good shape it wasn't a big deal."...

Morale on the set of rock matriarch Sharon Osbourne's upcoming talk show is dangerously low because pre-production has been beset by a wealth of problems. The Sharon Osbourne Show is set to debut on September 15, but celebrity guests have proved difficult to book - and two producers are so stressed they ended up leaving the studio in an ambulance, according to the New York Post's Pagesix website. A studio source reveals, "We're six weeks from debuting and we really don't have a formula that works. Sharon is lovely. She's smart. Everybody loves Sharon and no one wants to do a show that will embarrass her. But the executives have changed their minds 10,000 times and it's like we're starting from scratch." Some staff have been working on the show for two months, but stress has proved so great two producers were admitted to hospital - one suffering a seizure and the other an asthma attack. The source adds, "The whole staff feels beaten down and exhausted. Everybody wants to leave. There's a sense of mutiny." Jim Paratore, president of Telepictures Productions, said on Monday, "This show won't be like any other show on TV. The Sharon Osbourne Show will combine celebrity segments a la Live With Regis And Kelly, human interest stories a la Oprah, plus musical guests and pre-taped mini-reality segments. It's really three shows in one, and that's why it's been such a difficult start-up. It's always been a very ambitious show. It takes a while to get everybody on the same page." So far the only celebrities lined-up by bookers are David Spade and Bow Wow, and Paratore admits, "Morale is mixed. The people doing good are feeling good, the people who are not, are not."...
