Kathryn Hanna
- Actress
Kathryn Elizabeth Hanna was born on November 28th, 2006 in Upstate SC, USA. At the age of 2 years old, Kathryn was first introduced to the stage. Raised in a small town, she urged to find any opportunity that sparked. During her first theatrical performance, it was evident Kathryn was destined for the entertainment industry -- engaging the audience with a dimpled grin. Kathryn's Mother, Debbie Hanna, soon enrolled her in voice lessons, with dance (tap, jazz, lyrical/modern, and ballet), acting, and piano lessons soon following. Throughout years of training, Kathryn's hard work had paid off scoring lead roles and lots of recognition within and outside of her community. As she enters a new phase of her career, there's no doubt her energy and fierceness will continue to develop her skill set.
With the support from numerous mentors, Kathryn's reach has begun to expand across the Southeast. Lots of directors have noted her undeniable camera personality and spark. After spending lots of her youth performing in front of live audiences, in 2021 Kathryn made her first appearances on camera. Trying to get an understanding for film, she began in non-featured/featured background roles on streaming services, including; Apple TV, Peacock, Hulu, and Discovery+. One of her favorite on set experiences has been working with child actress, Makenna Grace, during filming for "A Friend of the Family." Despite her love for working alongside seasoned professionals, she's found herself doing less background work and claiming lead/supporting roles in independent films. Fueled by knowledge and lots of drive, Kathryn has begun to receive lots of interest. Receiving daily self-tape requests to booking frequently, she's begun the next level in her career.
While she is best known for her camera and theatrical appearance, Kathryn has also partaken in various vocal opportunities. At the age of 12, she ventured to New York City to sing at Carnegie Hall alongside several select children's choirs around the nation. During the performance, Kathryn had a spoken solo paying honor to individuals affected by water contamination in Flint, Michigan. She has also partaken in several vocal workshops led by Jimmy Smagula ("Les Miserables," "Jessie") and Kimmie Lee Bryant ("Phantom of the Opera"). With a burning passion to sing, Kathryn hopes to record several song covers by the end of this year and release them publicly on her social media platforms. In addition, she has recently performed pop and musical theatre ballads for her community in concerts with help from her vocal coach, Andrea Shepherd. As things continue to skyrocket with her film career, there's no question the same will happen with Hanna's vocal career.
Most recently Kathryn has worked alongside cast and crew of Youth Indie Memphis' "Amorphous," as Raven. Directed by Anaya Murray and produced by Kimel Fryer, this short film features a well-rounded cast and crew including (to name a few) Anaya Murray, Six Carolino, and Amanda Willoughby. While working on set, she took part in stunt knife choreography taught by Carolino. After lots of hard work, "Amorphous" earned the Indie Memphis Youth Audience Award. She is currently in production/post-production with several other projects including a movie, several TV shows, and a pilot series.
When Kathryn is not busy self-taping, on set, or taking part in performance opportunities, she can be found in the kitchen whipping up a new dessert for her loved ones to devour. Some of her other interests include: freestyle dancing, cooking, and crafting. There's a sense of freedom Kathryn holds dear when it comes to crafting -- she enjoys letting her mind run free and creating new things on-camera/stage and off. She also enjoys spending time with her mom, Debbie, going on daily wellness walks as well as singing to her little brother, Andrew.
