Justin Kurzel has become known for his bold and visual storytelling, with films including Macbeth, Nitram, and the blockbuster Assassin’s Creed adaptation under his belt. However, for his latest project, the director has turned to documentaries. Ellis Park follows the musician and composer Warren Ellis, a friend of Kurzel’s who is known for bands the “Dirty Three” and “Bad Seed,” as he visits an animal sanctuary in Sumatra named after him, which he helped to fund.
The sanctuary, run by Dutch-born paramedic Femke Den Hans, is simultaneously uplifting and chilling as it offers a glimpse into the fight against the illegal animal trade and the perseverant people fighting it. However, the documentary is an equally revealing look into the eclectic life and mind of Warren Ellis himself.

Wallace and Gromit are finally back.
The stop-motion franchise returns early next year on Netflix with its first feature in 19 years, “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.” And this time, the titular inventor and his dog are taking on AI.
Per the synopsis, Gromit is concerned that Wallace (Ben Whitehead) is becoming too dependent on his inventions, especially after Wallace invents “smart” gnome Norbot (Reece Shearsmith), who seems to develop a mind of its own.
“When it emerges that a vengeful figure from the past might be masterminding things, it falls to Gromit to battle sinister forces and save his master,” the description reads, “or Wallace may never be able to invent again!”
The “vengeful figure…masterminding things” is none other than villainous penguin Feathers McGraw, who appears for the first time in a feature film after debuting in the franchise’s Oscar-winning short “The Wrong Trousers.”

Wallace and Gromit are back — and they’re not alone.
The absentminded inventor and his loyal dog sidekick first debuted in 1989’s Oscar-nominated short “A Grand Day Out.” Their adventures would continue in a series of short films and a feature-length movie, “Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit” (which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature). Now, they are back with a new animated movie, “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.”
You can check out the brand-new first trailer, below, before the movie premieres Jan. 3, 2025, on Netflix.
In this new movie, Wallace (now voiced by Ben Whitehead) is testing out a new “smart gnome” that soon has a mind of its own. Meanwhile, Gromit starts to suspect that a villain from the duo’s past could be responsible — none other than Feathers McGraw, the diamond thief penguin from the Oscar-winning short, “The Wrong Trousers.” That’s right.

Japan’s Asahi Broadcasting Group, creative powerhouse Diturn Korea and Asia-based content incubator Empire of Arkadia have joined forces to co-develop “100,” a community-based music entertainment format.
The show will be distributed globally by Eoa and will officially launch at Mip London, by which time the first two iterations of the format will have taken to the air in Japan and Korea.
The show was designed to address a growing demand for prime-time music entertainment shows. It was conceived by Eoa, and was led by Park Wonwoo, the creator of “The Masked Singer,” ABC Japan’s Shiba Satoshi, former producer of Japanese breakout hit “In the Middle of Nowhere” and international format specialist Fotini Paraskakis.
The format leverages and blends the strengths of Korean innovation in creativity, execution and production with the alternative thinking of Japanese gameplay. “It boasts innovative interactive game play and fresh North Asian structural twists,” the trio said.

With DC undergoing reconstruction and MCU cutting down on its slate for this year, 2024 has been a pretty quiet year when it comes to Cbm and major franchise releases in general. However, 2025 seems to be a total contrast, as apart from David Corenswet’s Superman, a plethora of releases from other big franchises are also lined up, including Fantastic Four and now Jurrasic Park.

Moreover, with Fantastic Four‘s release getting pushed and Universal revealing Jurrasic Park Rebirth‘s release date, things are looking a bit difficult for the next Superman, box-office-wise.

Although, technically, James Gunn‘s Dcu will kickstart later this year with Creature Commandos, next year’s Superman is set to be the first major entry in the new chapter of DC. Reasonably, every eye is on this project,...

Netflix released a teaser clip introducing Norbot, the “smart gnome” from Aardman’s stop-motion feature “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl,” directed by franchise creator Nick Park and creative director Merlin Crossingham (premiering on the streamer this winter).
Norbot (Reece Shearsmith) marks the greatest invention yet from the eccentric, cheese-loving Wallace (Ben Whitehead). It’s designed to do any kind of gardening task (or “gnome improvement”), much to the chagrin of Wallace’s canine companion, Gromit, who’s concerned that his pal has become too dependent on his inventions.
The pre-programmed Norbot is a quick learner, efficient, polite, and cheerful, and it quickly becomes popular with the locals to help with their gardening needs. That is until Norbot seemingly develops a mind of its own and runs amok. It’s up to Gromit to stop the AI nightmare and save his friend.

This is a call from Donald Trump to Foo Fighters.
A spokesman for the ex-potus and current GOP presidential nominee hit back at the multiplatinum band today after Dave Grohl and company complained about their hit “My Hero” being played at a weekend rally without the band’s consent.
“It’s Times Like These facts matter, don’t be a Pretender,” Trump’s rep Steven Cheung wrote on X, copping the titles of two Foo tracks.
“My Hero” blared on the Pa during a rally with new endorsee Robert Kennedy Jr. in the swing state of Arizona on Friday, and the band made its distaste — and lack of approval — known soon afterward. Only trouble is, the Trump camp said it has licensed use of that song and so many others from performing-rights company BMI.
Cheung included a quote from a UK newspaper backing his point. The Independent had tweeted, or X’d,...

This article contains spoilers for Fear the Walking Dead season 8 and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
With the sprawling world of AMC’s The Walking Dead ballooning to a franchise that includes sequels, prequels, and anthology series, it’s easy to forget the humble roots of the Frank Darabont days and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) waking up in the Harrison Memorial Hospital. While it’s sometimes hard to keep track of the various branches of the Deadverse, few have continued the story as faithfully as Fear the Walking Dead.
Starting out as a prequel to the events of the main series, Fear the Walking Dead soon took on a life of its own and told an epic story across eight seasons. Now that the whole story saga is on Netflix, it’s time to look back at the highs and lows of the shuffling series and how Fear the Walking Dead...

Marvel Studios has yet to establish whether animated characters will appear in that form or with live-action actors playing them if and when they share the screen with Earth-616's heroes. However, in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, we did see Miles Morales meet a live-action Prowler (and most agreed it worked perfectly).
Today, Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park has shared a very early idea for Deadpool & Wolverine revealing that the Merc with the Mouth was once set to visit the Marvel Comics Universe.
"In my last post I was honoring my [first] boss ([and] creator of Deadpool) in [Rob Liefeld]. [In] this post I show you how I honored Many comic book legends during preproduction on working on the Deadpool & Wolverine film before there was even a script," the artist explained.
"I pitched a fun idea where Deadpool would jump through multiverses and arrive at the MCU, Marvel Comics Universe!

Deadpool & Wolverine respects the comic books in a big way, though Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park has just shared some unused designs which bring Rob Liefeld's '90s designs to life in the MCU.
Adapting the Merc with the Mouth's original comic book uniforms, the artist says these were meant as "variations of Deadpool's costume for a fun sequence. So I had to create these versions playing with classic Liefeld-isms like exaggerated muscles, pouches, swords, shoulder pads, his original costume color breakups and original eye shape."
It doesn't sound like these were meant to be members of the Deadpool Corps; instead, we'd guess the idea was for Wade Wilson to try on a variety of costumes in the Tva before settling on the one which made the final cut.
Liefeld left a comment on the post saying, "So ridiculously proud of you Andy. You make [me] so proud.

The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers document that Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada) is reeling. She can’t help but wonder whether her mother is guilty. The effect of Poppy Nozawa’s (Romy Park) deceptive behavior is also forcing Luna to question the outcome of the first DNA paternity test she took. Meanwhile, Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) is also shaken and has to reconsider accepting that Luna is his daughter without further confirmation.

We love seeing which films rank among our favorite directors’ list of best ever — the ones that left a mark and steered them in the path of becoming some of the most renowned artists of the medium. But let’s face it, we don’t mind a little conflict, either. But Park Chan-wook wasn’t going after his fellow directors in a physical way but rather in a much more damming way — attacking their work!
In a recently unearthed slam session from 1999, Park Chan-wook called out 10 films that he considered the most overrated ever. Keep in mind that by this point, the South Korean director only had two features to his credit. So what’s on the list and what did he have to say? Let’s check it out:

The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers document that Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) found a new love and learned he had a daughter. He never expected Poppy Nozawa (Romy Park) to be arrested on the suspicion of murder. Poppy’s arrest did not shock the audience because viewers knew that Tom Starr’s (Clint Howard) backpack was mysteriously in her apartment. That felt like a setup and likely is.
Park’s character only looks guilty based on what is known. Whether she proves to be a double murderer remains to be seen. There are indicators that she’s innocent. But there are also holes in the case against her, and viewers know that she likely could not have committed the second murder.
The Bold And The Beautiful Spoilers – Katie Logan Could Not Hold Back
Bill also did not anticipate that the original love of his life would be so suspicious of the new woman.

Park Chan-wook, the eminent director of Oldboy and Stoker, is about to start filming his latest thriller – I Can’t Help It.
Acclaimed director Park Chan-wook has begun work on his latest movie, it’s been announced. Called I Can’t Help It, it’s based on The Ax – one of the later novels by prolific novelist Donald E Westlake.
Filming is due to begin this Saturday – the 17th August if you’re reading this in the future – and will star Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Published in 1996, The Ax introduced Burke Devore, a middle-aged chemist who, when he loses his job at a paper firm during a round of cost-cutting, goes to violent lengths in order to get his job back.
The vitriol towards Emily in Paris in its early seasons was undeniably overblown. The comedy series clearly pulled from Sex in the City and rom-com classics to build its premise. However, while the titular Emily rarely showed any willingness to grow, future seasons corrected the issue. While Emily in Paris has never reached excellence, it has been a reliable hit for Netflix. With a “Will they, won’t they” romance and some very funny jokes, the series took steps forward in seasons 2 and 3. Unfortunately, Season 4 undoes much of its goodwill, especially by breaking the show into Part 1 and Part 2.

Emily in Paris is going beyond the City of Light in season four, as the titular American heads to Rome for part of the season.
Season four — split into two segments, with part one now streaming and part two coming Sept. 12 — will continue Emily’s (played by Lily Collins) love triangle with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), and in the later episodes, see her heading out on an Italian adventure.
“Being in Rome was so amazing, it was the most special way for us to end this season with the crew because it felt like a holiday. The culture there is just so warm and welcoming, the streets are paved with so much history, and the food is so wonderful,” Collins told The Hollywood Reporter at the show’s L.A. premiere on Wednesday. “It was so great to go from Paris to Rome because you’re still...

We've seen a great many pieces of concept art from Deadpool & Wolverine over the past week or two but this latest batch might be the one that generates the most debate among fans.
Over the years, Marvel Studios has dreamed up some of the best superhero costumes to ever grace the screen. However, if there's one recurring complaint, it's that they're often a little too busy or over-designed.
Logan's suit in Deadpool & Wolverine has been widely praised for how it adheres to the comics. However, the McU's approach to costume design also saw the blue spikes on either side of his torso incorporated in a somewhat overly complicated manner.
That's evident from Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park's alternate takes on Wolverine's blue and yellow suit. In the pieces below, the clawed mutant just has the simple blue spikes and they not only work...

The Bold and the Beautiful (B&b) spoilers document that Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) did not want to believe Katie Logan (Heather Tom).
But the arrival of Deputy Chief Bradley Baker (Dan Martin) and the arrest of Poppy Nozawa (Romy Park) propelled this storyline to new heights.
Katie was purely going with her gut instinct when calling Martin’s character. But he and his officers located more than the letters Poppy returned to Tom Starr (Clint Howard).
Laced drugs that were in a container in a zippered compartment appeared to match those that caused his death and Paul Hollis Hollister’s (Hollis W. Chambers).
Viewers felt jolted by the suddenness of events and wondered if Poppy was the second wrong suspect. The soapy walls have collapsed on Park’s character.

As film festival season begins to wrap up, film buffs await the theatrical and streaming releases of the films that premiered at festivals, such as Sundance and Cannes. While some of the bigger film festivals have begun prep for next season, other smaller festivals are still going strong in their own right. I had the opportunity to attend NewFest Pride in New York City, an LGBTQ+ film festival, marking the beginning of Pride Month. While looking through the different options of films to attend, ‘My Old Ass’ stuck out to me, as I recognized director, Megan Park’s name from ‘The Fallout’. ‘The Fallout’ is a hidden gem film, winning the Narrative Feature category at South by Southwest in 2021. While both films are incredibly different, ‘My Old Ass’ still features unintentional comedy and messages about living life to the fullest that ‘The Fallout’ portrayed as well. ‘My Old Ass’ originally...

Park Chan-wook has kicked off production on his next feature, tentatively titled “The Ax” (literaly Korean title “I Can't Help It”) with megastars Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin in the lead.
Based on “The Ax” by Donald E. Westlake, which has also had a French film adaptation so far, the tragic-comic thriller will follow Yoo Man-soo, a salaried man who loses his job under an envious boss and goes to extreme measure to provide for his family. Lee will play Man-soo while Son Ye-jin will portray his devoted wife Mi-ri, who must step up for her husband and her family.
This will of course be the third collaboration between Park and Lee, with the actor having previously worked in the prolific director's breakout early feature “Jsa: Joint Securiry Area” as well as his segment “Box” in the horror anthology “Three… Extremes”. "Deadpool & Wolverine" is such a dizzying whirlwind of meta references, Marvel Studios Easter eggs, and shocking cameos that you really do need to see the film more than once to, in Pokémon parlance, catch 'em all. Some people believe that Poppy was addicted to drugs via her infamous “mints,” and may have caused Tom’s death on The Bold and the Beautiful. Her portrayer, Romy Park, gave her thoughts on whether or not Poppy is actually an addict, and explained how the subject matter was treated on set.
Yamada’s Prop Mints Are Tasty

Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park has shared the official San Diego Comic-Con poster for Deadpool & Wolverine.
It pits the title characters against each other in The Void, though the big difference here is that Logan is wearing his mask. Clearly, Marvel Studios decided this wasn't the right time or place in the movie to have the hero don the iconic headpiece.

Park’s resignation comes amid several conflicts within the label’s affiliates, including Min Hee-jin, the CEO of girl group NewJeans’ label Ador and other Hybe subsidiaries Source Music and Belift Lab.
Park’s successor, Lee, joined Hybe in 2018 after stints with Hyundai Motor Group and Google. He was chief innovation growth officer for Big Hit Entertainment as well as Chief Operating Officer and President of Hybe America.
Lee’s appointment will be finalized after an upcoming Hybe shareholders and board of directors meeting.
Local media reported that Lee will lead a soon-to-be-announced “Hybe 2.0” initiative as part of the leadership transition.

Former Editor of Kodansha’s Attack on Titan, Park Jung-Hyun, has been sentenced to prison for 11 years for the alleged murder of his wife. The High Court decided to rule against him in his case after a retrial last week on July 18, 2024, because his testimony was seen as untrustworthy due to differing versions of what happened. The murder reportedly took place in August 2016.

Variety Senior Awards Editor Clayton Davis kicked off the ceremony by introducing Josh Cooley, director of “Toy Story 4” and the upcoming “Transformers One,” who presented Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation President Ramsey Naito with the inaugural Executive Impact in Animation award.
“[Ramsey] understands the power of giving filmmakers the freedom to make creative decisions,” Cooley said. “Her no house style approach also allows creators to build distinct immersive visual worlds and allows us to take creative swings so we can all tell inspiring, meaningful and creative stories.”

After impressing many viewers and critics two years ago with his wildly original debut film The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra, Park Syeyoung returns to BiFan with his second feature, Base Station, which he co-directed with artist and filmmaker Yeon Yeji, who has starred in some of Park's other work and also plays the lead here. In this rural-set, lightly dystopian sci-fi, Eden and her younger brother Hyun-ho have been living an isolated life in the wooded mountains, away from society. Even if it might be harder to navigate than any of its top-tier streaming peers, Amazon Prime Video still boasts a wide selection of films, including plenty of older movies that places like Netflix simply don’t care to host. That said, its turnover is frequent and subtle.
