Framing Mom
Director: Sara Johnsen
Writer: Sara Johnsen
Norwegian director Sara Johnsen has yet to secure Us distribution for her previous three features, including her award winning debut Kissed By Winter (2005), Upperdog (2009), and the enigmatic All That Matters Is Past (2012), which unfortunately didn’t find the critical praise it was worthy of. Offbeat and strange, it’s easy to see why her cinema has had a difficult time securing an international audience, so we’re hoping her next feature, Framing Mom, breaks out of this cycle. This is about the story of Unn Tove, a TV journalist who marries the wrong man and is unfaithful to him at their own wedding. At the same time, a newborn baby, Rose Marie, is left in a restaurant bathroom. Their lives become intertwined, and 16 years later, Unn Tove and Rose Marie begin a search for the young girl’s biological parents.

It seems the criminal organization known as Quantum will not be completely written out of future Bond movies after all. When there was no mention in Skyfall, many thought this plotline was to be abandoned, but Jesper Christiansen's return as Quantum liaison Mr. White appears to contradict that. While speaking to Euroman, the actor confirmed that he'd be reprising the role. "I am looking forward to working with Sam Mendes and Daniel Craig. It is a truly exciting script and a very capable team. So it'll be fun...". Christiansen debuted as White in Casino Royale, and then was last seen making his escape through the tunnels beneath Siena in Quantum Of Solace with the aid of M's double-agent bodyguard, Mitchell. Is 007 going to have to content with both Spectre and Quantum in his next outing? We'll find out when Spectre goes on general release November 6, 2015. The movie will...

Scenes From a Marriage: Troell’s Latest an Engrossing Character Study
Swedish auteur Jan Troell, at 81, is thankfully still making films, and his latest, The Last Sentence, is a period piece centered on a somewhat obscure historical figure, more in the vein of Hamsun (1996) than the immigrant or social change narratives that Troell is perhaps most famed for, such as his last effort, a 2008 masterpiece, Everlasting Moments. Beginning his directorial career in the mid 60’s, Troell was not only a contemporary of Ingmar Bergman but has often showcased many of Bergman’s troupe, like Max Von Sydow and Liv Ullman (Sydow was purportedly first choice for this latest as well). Here, he assembles a distinct cast and digital black and white cinematography to offset this from his larger body of work, and the pay off his decidedly worthwhile.
