Jason Overstreet
- Actor
Jason Overstreet and his two brothers, Eddie Jr. and Josh, were raised
by their Texas born parents who met at Texas Tech University. His
mother, Yuma, a writer, has also been an English/History teacher for
over 30 years, and his father Eddie Sr., who passed away in 2008, was a
cook and maintenance supervisor. While growing up, Jason moved a lot,
living in Colorado, Texas, New Mexico and California. Playing football
and basketball was all that kept him interested in school throughout
his teens. Upon graduating from high school in New Mexico, having
competed on the varsity basketball team, he headed to San Diego to play
ball at Point Loma Nazarene College. But upon arrival, his interest
shifted to theater, broadcasting and journalism. He was cast as the
lead in a stage production of "War of The Worlds" and he produced and
hosted several college radio shows. He went on to earn a BFA in
Broadcast Journalism from Point Loma in 1995. A year later, owing
thousands in school loans, he moved to Los Angeles and struggled to
find part time work while earning a master's degree in Education from
Azusa Pacific University. He then studied at the Stella Adler Academy
of Acting in Hollywood and with noted Philadelphia playwright, Donald
Welch.
