When he refused to ally with Adolf Hitler, Germany invaded Yugoslavia, forcing Peter into exile; communists seized control of the country after the War. On 4 March 2007, Alexander announced plans to move his father's remains to Belgrade. He is the only foreign monarch to be buried in the US.
