Her husband owned Atlas Corporation, RKO Studios, Convair aircraft company, Northeast Airlines, and Bonwit Teller department stores.
Discovered at age 6 that her parents were actually foster parents. They had agreed to raise her in exchange for a tract of land. The foster parents never revealed her real parent's names nor why she was renamed Jacqueline. She chose the last name "Cochran" from a phone book.
Held more speed, altitude, and distance records than any pilot in aviation history.
Died at her home in Indio, California. Buried in Coachella Valley Cemetery.
Upon her death, her remains were interred at Coachella Valley Public Cemetery in Coachella, Riverside County, California.
