Exclusive: Rock and roll fantasy camp could be heading to the small screen.
Fox is developing single-camera comedy Rock Camp from The Goldbergs co-exec producer Steve Basilone, Jeff Rowe and David Fishof, founder of Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp.
The project follows a down on his luck rock star, who after a series of screw-ups, begrudgingly goes to teach at Rock Camp — a summer camp where anyone can live out their fantasy of shredding next to their favorite rockers — in order to satisfy a court mandate and save his reputation.
Basilone, who has also written on Community and The Michael J. Fox Show, will write and will exec produce alongside Rowe, and Fishof.
Fishof started Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp after having worked with Ringo Starr, Roger Daltrey, The Monkees, Joe Walsh and Peter Frampton. He launched it in 1997 and has put more than 6,000 folks through their rock star dreams.

Quibi’s “Nikki Fre$h” is an exaggerated account of Nicole Richie‘s quest to reinvent herself as an eco-conscious trap music icon. Like “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” this streaming series is filmed like a mockumentary without fourth-wall breaks making it one explicitly. With Richie uncredited for scripting and presumably showrunner Carrie Franklin uncredited as director, this hilarious cringe comedy takes after Sacha Baron Cohen‘s characters in blurring the line between fiction and reality. With a roster that includes her father Lionel Richie and husband Joel Madden, plus Bill Nye the Science Guy, the show’s celebrity guest stars turn in such naturalistic performances that it can be hard to tell if they are acting — or why they would agree to such self-deprecating material.

For the past 15 years, the CBS Showcase has been giving shine to up and coming talent in Hollywood. As the title of the yearly event entails, it gives the chance for performers to showcase their acting chops in a comedic space. It’s a fast-paced comedy variety show echoing Saturday Night Live with a hearty helping of musical elements. Last week, the tradition continued as 20 players took the stage at the El Portal in North Hollywood for the yearly CBS Diversity Showcase — but diversity wasn’t always the focus of the showcase.
Tess Paras, who served as director of this year’s show alongside director Stephen Guarino and head writer Tien Tran, was a performer in the 2014 CBS Showcase. She admits that it was once widely known for being problematic and stereotypical in the way it portrayed its performers.
“That was the norm back then and it remained unchallenged,” Paras tells Deadline.
