Around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday night, a shadowy group of figures walked onto the Farm Aid stage at the Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana. This was supposed to be the moment where Wille Nelson wrapped up the night, but there was no sign of the Red Headed Stranger or his band. Instead, another act was plugging in instruments on the darkened stage. There was no announcement of any kind, and the large screens on both sides of the stage went completely blank for the first time all day.

Stephen Stills and David Crosby didn’t always see eye to eye throughout the long history of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. But they were on good terms during the final years of Crosby’s life and even had plans to see each other shortly before Crosby died.
“When you’re young, if you’re not fighting, someone doesn’t care enough about the music,” Stills tells Rolling Stone. “When you get middle-aged, you should be able to do it without fighting. Later on, you turn into a curmudgeon, especially...

The Blues Foundation has rescinded Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s 2021 Blues Music Awards nomination for Best Blues/Rock Artist. According to a statement from the organization, the decision was made over Confederate flag imagery displayed on Shepherd’s The Dukes of Hazzard “General Lee” car replica, and on “guitars and elsewhere.”
The organization’s rescindment is in accordance with the Blues Foundation’s Statement Against Racism, which reads in part: “The Blues Foundation unequivocally condemns all forms and expressions of racism, including all symbols associated with white supremacy and the degradation of people of color.

From his early Sixties work in L.A.’s session players known as the Wrecking Crew, to his flirtation with pop success in the Seventies and excavation of New Orleans musical history throughout his entire carer, Dr. John, born Malcolm John Rebennack, infused his musical output with the heart and soul of his birthplace. The piano-playing icon, who died Thursday at age 77, is today being eulogized for the essential role he played in taking the jazz, boogie-woogie and funk of his hometown throughout the world.

Earlier this week, Jimmy Kimmel Live! shut down Hollywood Boulevard for Van Halen's first-ever live televised performances with original/current frontman David Lee Roth. It was a memorable two-night stint for the iconic hard-rock singer, made even more remarkable by the singer bloodying his nose while furiously twirling a metal baton. Roth soldiered on, wearing a bandage – though, according to Kimmel, the singer ended up receiving 14 stitches as a result of his glammy theatrics. "The world of baton-twirling is very dangerous," Kimmel cracked.

This country singer has not always been known for her courageous fashion choices, but this little number was all glitz, glam and a sparkling winner for a night of music on Feb. 7!
Singer LeAnn Rimes, 30, looked pretty spectacular at the 15th Annual Grammy Foundation Music Preservation Project “Play It Forward” in Beverly Hills on Feb. 7. Showing off her body in a plunging backless mini, the diva was also set to perform at the event held at the Saban Theater. Tweeting before the event, LeAnn said, “Singing ‘Summertime’ w/ Kenny Wayne Shepherd and a bad ass band for the ‘Play It Forward’ Grammy Foundation show!”
This plunging ensemble was eccentric in every way! The neutral colors of taupe and metallic complimented the starlet’s creamy complexion. It’s always a good sign to see glittery, embellished frocks at the Grammys! After all, the night is about music and fun, spontaneous fashion!

For the "Footloose" purists out there, i.e. those who can't believe they've remade the film and the soundtrack, everyone involved with the reboot knows where you're coming from and they promise they haven't done anything to dull the Kevin Bacon-tastic sheen off the 1984 original.
One of the many things to look and listen for when you see the film is the updated soundtrack, which features tracks by Blake Shelton, Victoria Justice and The Smashing Pumpkins, to name a few. MTV News hit up the premiere of the new film Monday night where we encountered up-and-coming artists Hunter Hayes (he toured with Taylor Swift this summer) and Jana Kramer, who opened up about their versions of classics "Almost Paradise" and "Let's Hear It For The Boy."

"Everybody cut, everybody cut. Everybody cut, everybody cut. Everybody cut ... Footloose."
With that clarion call, Kenny Loggins sent a generation of teenagers into spasms of what approximated dancing in the 1980s. The soundtrack to the 1984 film "Footloose" made almost as much of a pop culture impact as the movie itself, and tracks like the title song, "Almost Paradise," and "Let's Hear It For the Boy" were ubiquitous at middle school dances and roller rinks throughout America.
Now, we're on the verge of a "Footloose" remake, this time transplanted from the Midwest to the South. The movie looks ... well, interesting ... but can a remade soundtrack be as big of a draw as a remade film? We're not so sure, but that doesn't mean the "Footloose" soundtrack isn't worth checking out.
To go along with the geographical changes of the film, "Footloose" has countrified the music. Nowhere is this more evident than in the title track,...

Victoria Justice ("Victorious") will duet with teen country singer Hunter Hayes on a remake of "Almost Paradise" for the soundrack Footloose remake. It's apparent that Footloose is being remake primarily as a country music vehicle. It also looks like the music for the soundtrack is similar to the way the trailer appears for Footloose: very similiar to the original, just with new singers and stars.
Other of the old songs redone by new artists: country singer Blake Shelton will remake the theme song "Footloose" originally recorded by Kenny Loggins. Ella Mae Bowen will cover Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero" and Jana Kramer will take on Deniece Williams "Let's Hear It For the Boy."
New music will come from Big & Rich, Zac Brown (from the Zac Brown Band), Lissie, Whitney Duncan and David Banner. Shelton's "The Voice" co-star Cee Lo Green will also record a song for the soundtrack.

The Sunday shoes of "Footloose" are pretty tough to fill.
Everyone remembers Kevin Bacon's quick and sexy moves, undoubtedly thanks to their being choreographed to Kenny Loggins. And that Loggins theme song? It's a mind worm! Everyone knows it and everyone can hum it.
What's a "Footloose" remake to do? Abandon the original theme for something new? Or just be gutsy, run with it, and have a big country star make it his own? Thankfully, director Craig Brewer went with option number two, and put Blake Shelton in the studio to cut loose... footloose.
Shelton isn't the only big star on the new "Footloose" soundtrack. Entertainment Weekly revealed the entire track list, and it features a dozen of music's (and television's) hottest stars putting their stamp on the original "Footloose" songs. While this has caused some small controversy (is not even "Holdin' Out For a Hero" sacred?), the idea...

Actor Mel Gibson became a grandfather for the third time on Saturday, March 12, just one day after pleading no contest to misdemeanor battery charges. Gibson's daughter, Hannah, and her husband, blues singer Kenny Wayne Shepherd, welcomed a baby boy over the weekend, reports TMZ. The couple already has two children.
The good news follows Gibson's court appearance on Friday, March 11, when the actor-director was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to undergo a year of counseling after pleading no contest to a charge of simple misdemeanor battery.
The embattled star's latest legal woe stems from accusations filed against him by his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, who alleged Gibson attacked her during a heated argument in January 2010. The former couple has been locked in a war of words over custody of their baby daughter Lucia since splitting in 2010.
The good news follows Gibson's court appearance on Friday, March 11, when the actor-director was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to undergo a year of counseling after pleading no contest to a charge of simple misdemeanor battery.

"He was overwhelmed with emotion," a friend of his told People. "He gets that way around babies...He was...

I don't normally go see cover acts, mostly because of the constant belly aching from my friends in "real" bands about how those "Freebird" playing yahoos are always taking money out of their pockets. And after getting burned one too many times by lame tribute acts (Ok, just that once, but you know who you are and you should be ashamed!), I was wary of the "Experience Hendrix" tribute tour because I love Jimi Hendrix and refuse to let some hack ruin him for me.
But with a lineup that includes Jimi's original Band of Gypsys and Experience bassist Billy Cox, guitar wizards Steve Vai, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Aerosmith's Brad Whitford, Eric Johnson and Robert Randolph, in addition to Living Colour, members of Los Lobos, Ernie Isley, Susan Tedeschi and former Stevie Ray Vaughan drummer Chris Layton, you kind of couldn't lose, right? The big sports headline from Monday night (October 11) was the New York Jets victory over the embattled Minnesota Vikings on a rain-soaked, controversy-heavy field of play. But before Brett Favre threw the game-ending touchdown pass that happened to be for the other team, the San Francisco Giants completed their run through the first round of the Major League Baseball playoffs, knocking off the Atlanta Braves by a score of 3-2 to take the series. The Giants will go on to face the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Championship Series, which will kick off this Saturday, October 16. While the game represented forward motion for the Giants, it represented the end of the line for the Braves — and more specifically for manager Bobby Cox, who is hanging up the spurs after 29 seasons as a skipper.
