Deadline has word that McConaughey is attached to star in The Company Man, a script by Andrew Cypiot that made The Black List known as the Untitled Ed Wilson Project. McConaughey is reportedly involved in helping find a director for the true story about CIA agent Edwin Wilson who went behind enemy lines to secure a weapons contract and report info back to the CIA shortly after the Cold War. Wilson enjoyed a fruitful career at the CIA, but when policies changed at the agency, he was fired. But that didn't stop Wilson from staying operational, even without a country to report to, and he ended up becoming one of the most wanted men by the U.

It was smart choices that led Matthew McConaughey's McConaissance, and he's going to keep going down that path. We'll see him on the big screen later this year in Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar," he's gearing up to shoot Gus Van Sant's "Sea Of Tress" and now it appears he's lining up "The Company Man." The Black List script by Andrew Cypiot tells the true story of CIA agent Edwin Wilson who "went behind enemy lines to secure a weapons contract and report information back to the CIA shortly after the Cold War. He had a meteoric rise until company policies changed and he was unceremoniously fired. Even after, he continued to operate as a man without a country and became public enemy No. 1 to the U.S. Attorney’s office." This project is in the process of finding a director, before it will be shopped around, so it's...

With an Oscar in his hand thanks to Dallas Buyers Club, Matthew McConaughey has plenty of options open to him, but also the responsibility to find something that lives up to his award-winning status. He’s got several projects on the go and is now circling a hot script called The Company Man.While industry talk like “circling” always makes us picture actors sniffing around a script on the ground like a cat figuring out if it should eat some dropped food, he’s actually looking to turn the script into a film, throwing his two cents in on who might direct it.Andrew Cypiot’s screenplay is based on the true story of CIA agent Edwin Wilson, who snuck behind enemy lines to secure a weapons contract and report the details to his bosses just after the Cold War. But his heady rise in the company ranks was suddenly...

Here’s one to keep an eye on. I’m hearing that Matthew McConaughey has come aboard The Company Man, the Black List script by Andrew Cypiot that had been known as the Untitled Ed Wilson Project. The Oscar-winning actor’s reps caution that none of this is set in stone, but I’m hearing he’s guiding the process of looking for a director before the project is shopped as a spec later this summer. It’s based on true events. CIA agent Edwin Wilson went behind enemy lines to secure a weapons contract and report information back to the CIA shortly after the Cold […]...
