- Historians have long debated her race and ethnicity, and if she was of African descent and thus the first mixed-race member of the British royal family. Some historians believe she was descended from the Black Moorish branch of the Portuguese royal family.
- She became queen consort of Great Britain and Ireland upon her marriage to King George III in 1761. She became the first queen of the United Kingdom after Great Britain and Ireland formally united in 1801, serving until her death in 1818.
