Updated with latest: Day 3 of the Writers Guild of America strike against Hollywood studios dealt with a few L.A. rain showers but continued strong turnout at 10 Los Angeles locations as well as at Silvercup Studios and Seret Studios in New York City.
Much of the conversation in L.A. was about Wednesday night’s WGA West meeting at the Shrine Auditorium, where guild leaders discussed the state of the strike and saw support from other Hollywood unions and guilds. It came as a similar meeting held by the WGA East in New York.

One of 2018’s high-priced Super Bowl Lii commercials is coming under fire for its use of the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
In an ad that aired on Sunday’s big game for Chrysler’s Dodge Ram Trucks, a speech from the civil rights activist was used to help promote the vehicle’s “built to serve” tagline.
The move was immediately condemned by Dr. King’s youngest daughter Bernice King and his family on Twitter through The King Center — the living memorial to M.L.K. founded by his widow Coretta Scott King to educate on nonviolence.

You might guess that "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2" is the cinematic equivalent of a greasy paper plate that should be wadded up and thrown away outside a Sbarro, and you, sir or madam, are a good guesser. Critics and Twitter pundits agree that the new Kevin James flick is bad for humankind. But there's an upside here: Hilarious comments about bad movies are good for humankind. We've rounded up ten good (and/or just irreverent) takedowns of "PBMC2" and ranked them for your disgusted pleasure. 10. The philosophical take. "This oft-ridiculed screen giant is here to answer a question that has plagued mankind for decades now: what would a film be like if every single person involved made as little effort as humanly possible?" -Tom Huddleston, Time Out London 9. Does Blart imitate life? "[Paul Blart] is barely anything at all; a stereotype of a stereotype; a half-remembered punchline; a stomach with a mustache and wheels.

Every year, film executive Franklin Leonard releases his list, called The Black List, of most-liked unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. This year's list was compiled from the suggestions of 290 film executives, each of whom picked up to ten of their favorite scripts. Since the list started in 2004, many screenplays ended up being turned into films. In 2005, two of the top three scripts were "Lars and the Real Girl" which was nominated for Best Original Screenplay Oscar, and "Juno" which actually won the Oscar. See the 2012 Black List below, broken up by how many votes each screenplay received. Some of the projects are already in the works. 65 - Draft Day (Rajiv Joseph, Scott Rothman) On the day of the NFL Draft, Bills General Manager Sonny Weaver has the opportunity to save football in Buffalo when he trades for the number one pick. There is either a couple of football fans or Jerry Maguire/Moneyball with this year’s most liked unproduced screenplay. Close to 300 hundred film executives provided with the Black List creators a top ten of their favorite screenplays of the year and the consensus first overall pick (with 65 votes) comes from the recently featured in Variety (10 Screenwriters to Watch 2012) tandem of Rajiv Joseph & Scott Rothman and their drama which has nothing to do with enlisting in the armed forces. Draft Day – about the day in the life of a fictitious Buffalo Bills Gm appears to currently be in turnaround — which only means I expect to see this greenlight perhaps a little later than sooner – worth noting: top spot almost guarantees that the film will indeed go into production (2006, 2010 and 2011 are the exceptions.) You want me to pick you up something from the drive-thru, you give me a time and a place. I give you a five minute window. Anything you want, I'll order it and get it to you in about five minutes no matter what. But I don't go inside the restaurant. I don't do carry out. I just drive thru. If you've seen Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive (and if you haven't, what are you waiting for?!?) the above quote will make much more sense. It's Ryan Gosling's character's mantra adapted for fast food. That also happens to be the aim of the latest Funny or Die video Drive Thru. It takes the visuals, sounds and attitude of Drive and folds it into a kind of unclear, but still hilarious story of a man who picks up drive thru only to mistakenly come in possession a bag of burgers that don't belong to him.

Ryan Gosling's nameless wheelman in this Fall's "Drive" floored people with his intense focus as a getaway driver for criminals. That's all well and good if you're robbing a pawn shop, but what if you want an Arby's Bacon Beef 'n Cheddar with Loaded Potato Bites right now, as in Pronto?
That's where Los Angeles comedian Alex Blagg comes in. His official movie trailer for "Drive-Thru" on Funny or Die is a literal shot-for-shot remake of that awesome "Drive" trailer, but with way more cholesterol.
In the fake clip, Blagg plays a driver who makes fast food faster, and is willing to do whatever it takes to get your burgers and shakes delivered without getting caught by the cops.
There are some really hilarious moments aping some of director Nicolas Winding Refn's best scenes, including loving recreations of the infamous elevator moment and the part where Gosling disguises himself in a mask.

There is only one way to spoof Nicolas Winding Refn's crime drama Drive with the help of the Hamburglar -- and web personality/comedian Alex Blagg nailed it in his Funny or Die video Drive-Thru. Here’s the trailer for Drive-Thru, the much buzzed-about thriller from our good pal Alex Blagg that defies the impossible and manages to combine our nation’s two greatest passions: Ryan Gosling and fast food. As much as I enjoyed Drive, I did find the movie sorely lacking in technical explanations of the Sonic drive-thru (this is true about most films), so I’m glad that this version finally went there. Also, as someone who’s seen Alex’s fast-food prowess firsthand, I can corroborate the Bryan Cranston character’s story that there is no one else like this guy when you put him behind the wheel and across from an order box. Watch and get hungry:...

Did you enjoy "Drive," but also find it hard to relate to on a personal level? Well, you're in luck. Alex Blagg and Funny or Die have created the "Drive" parody that us regular Americans needed to see; the one that touches us where we live, namely, the drive thru lane of any fast food chain.
Sure drive had tension and drama, but everyone knows the real action takes place between the window you pay at and the one that gives you your food.

Our former internet colleague and human being Alex Blagg came across this billboard, accurately calling it “the greatest billboard I’ve ever seen”: You name it, it’s perfect: Jimmy Miller’s photo, his credentials, his slogan, the font, the overall attention-grabbingness, the hat, the recentness of his Manager Of The Year Award… this billboard is truly a Where’s The Beef 4.0 for today’s Xtreme generation. My only lingering question before instantly hiring 1998′s Manager Of The Year was whether or not he was also human being, but he smartly put that concern to rest. I’ve been burned too often in the past hiring managers who turn out to be human-shaped cyborgs operated by two hamsters on a wheel where their heart should be.

UTA was one fo the first major Hollywood talent agencies to recognize the need to sign the emerging crop of online stars, grabbing Fred star Lucas Cruikshank, Ask a Ninja, and the Smosh trio years before the other tenpercenteries got hip to it. This proactive move was driven mainly by its upstart UTA Online division and a whole class of former UTA staffers like Max Benator (now at The Collective Digital Studio), Barrett Garese (now at Blip.tv), Jason Nadler, Jon Zimelis who now have branched out all over the digital entertainment side of Hollywood. The latest to set up shop are Nadler and Zimelis who teamed up with BestWeekEver and WonderWall founding editor Alex Blagg to launch Serious Business. There’s a playful, tongue-in-cheek nature to their new shingle, evidenced by the HedCut drawings of the three partners (above) and kitschy Venn diagram to explain just what it is an internetainment firm actually does.
