- Peter Schreier was born on July 29, 1935 in Meißen, Germany. He was an actor, known for The A-Team (2010), The Intouchables (2011) and Die Spur des Bernsteinzimmers (1992). He was married to Renate. He died on December 25, 2019 in Dresden, Saxony, Germany.

- Throughout his career Schreier was famous as a singer of German Lieder, including the songs of Schubert and Schumann.
- Recordings of the Bach's St Matthew Passion have included the version conducted by both Rudolf and Erhard Mauersberger, Karl Richter, Claudio Abbado and Herbert von Karajan.
- Schreier was 16 years old when his voice broke, and he became a tenor, as he had passionately wished, because of the several Evangelists - all tenors - in J.S. Bach's Passions and in his Christmas Oratorio.
