James McCaffrey, a seasoned veteran of the small screen and the voice of the iconic video game character Max Payne, has died.
He was 65.
According to reports, McCaffrey died Sunday of multiple myeloma cancer.
He was probably most well-known to non-video game players for his work on Rescue Me, where he played Jimmy Keefe.
Keefe was a New York firefighter who lost his life on 9/11.
He appears as a ghost to his cousin, played by Denis Leary, and his character drives some of Leary's richest scenes as Leary's character tries to understand the loss and why he's still alive.
McCaffrey had a series regular role for the first three seasons before switching to a recurring capacity for the final four seasons.
The FX hit also starred John Scurti, Michael Lombardi, Steven Pasquale, and Andrea Roth.
Throughout his career, the actor had countless credits across movies, TV, and video games.

Some sad news is circulating through the entertainment stratosphere with word that Rescue Me actor and video game voice actor for characters Max Payne and Agent Alex Casey (Alan Wake II), James McCaffrey, died Sunday of multiple myeloma cancer. He was 65. McCaffrey’s manager says he passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.
A New York native, McCaffrey’s star started rising when he appeared on the 1991-93 TV legal drama series Civil Wars. In 1996, he appeared as Mac Swift on 13 episodes of the Dick Wolf series Swift Justice. Wolf and McCaffrey hit it off, paving the way for collaboration across more projects, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In addition to taking on the TV sector with roles in Viper, Sex and the City, As the World Turns, and Beautiful People, McCaffrey’s most notable live-action role is for the firefighter drama Rescue Me.

From its opening landscape shot of a forest complete with moody voice on top, The Retaliators looks very good indeed. There is definitely an energy reminiscent of a heavy metal music video here, in both sound and visuals, but it works well with the theme and the tone of the movie. Directed by Samuel Gonzalez Jr. and Bridget Smith and penned by the team of Darren Geare and Jeff Allen Geare, this is a good old revenge flick and boy-oh-boy do I enjoy a revenge flick.
There is something very bitterly precise about this, something that looks you in the eye and doesn’t look away, a solid sledgehammer to the face in the guise of vengeance.

Exclusive: Los Angeles-based Premiere Entertainment Group has acquired worldwide rights to romantic comedy Plan B, starring Emmy-award winner Jamie Lee (HBO’s Crashing) and Jon Heder.
Premiere Entertainment will launch worldwide sales of the film at the upcoming American Film Market with all territories currently available.
Directed by first-timer Brandon Tamburri, from an original screenplay by Tamburri and Jean Monpere, Plan B follows the story of Piper, a young woman who, against better judgment, decides to sleep with a successful businessman and tells him he’s the father of her unborn baby after a one-night stand with her awkward neighbor leaves her pregnant.
The Joke Zero and Future Proof Films pic is produced by DJ Dodd, Erika Hampson, and Tamburri. Cast also includes Oscar Nominee Tom Berenger, Shannon Elizabeth, and SAG Award Winner Kate Flannery (NBC’s The Office). Rounding out the ensemble cast are Michael Lombardi (FX’s Rescue Me), Subhah Agarwal (HBO’s Westworld), Daniel K. Isaac (Showtime’s Billions), NFL star Vernon Davis, and Danielle Perez (A24’s Dicks: The Musical).
Full Synopsis reads: After a fun night out, rebellious writer Piper (Jamie Lee) drunkenly sleeps with her awkward neighbor, Evan (Jon Heder), and winds up pregnant. When she attempts to tell Evan the news, Piper quickly realizes that he’s not the long-term guy for her and the baby. After receiving news from publishing exec Jane (Kate Flannery) that her dream of a book deal is coming to fruition, she needs to find a stable relationship – and quick. Going against the advice of her best friend Maya (Subhah Agarwal), Piper opts to keep the pregnancy a secret until she can find a more successful guy to sleep with and hopefully start a family.
After a few failed and comical attempts at finding a match, Piper stumbles into Cameron (Michael Lombardi), a financial advisor and regular at the café she works at. Everything appears to be going as planned as Cameron falls for Piper and is ecstatic about the pregnancy. Cameron introduces Piper to his parents Joe (Tom Berenger) and Diane and fends off advances from his flirty boss Anne (Shannon Elizabeth) along the way. While juggling her double life, Piper continues to bump into her neighbor Evan, who has no idea that he is the father of her soon-to-be-born baby. However, Piper’s evil scheme starts to unravel when she starts second-guessing herself, realizing that she could be making the biggest mistake of her life.
Carlos Rincon, SVP of acquisitions at Premiere Entertainment, negotiated the deal with producer DJ Dodd on behalf of Joke Zero and Future Proof Films.
“This film has been a labor of love for me, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Premiere is the perfect partner for us, and I’m excited to be working with them,” Tamburri said.
DJ Dodd, Owner of Future Proof Films, added: “We are very proud of the film we’ve made through the immense hard work of all of our cast and crew. Making this film has been a fun ride, and we can’t wait to introduce it to the world.”...

The Retaliators follows a small-town pastor as he uncovers a dark world trying to find answers after his daughter is brutally murdered.
Co-director Michael Lombardi, who plays the Bishop, recently sat down for an exclusive with uInterview founder Erik Meers to discuss how he understands his character.
“The interesting thing about relating to this character is I can understand their religious background,” Lombardi shared. “I was an altar boy when I was young. I get the religious aspect very much. I layered this guy, too, like was he a guy who maybe didn’t come from the best place, but then looked to God and found some answers so he’s choosing to be passive in situations, but he has something underlying like we all do as human beings? At the end of the day, you find out who he is as a human being, and I think we can...

Sometimes people get away with awful things. While everyone agrees there should be punishment for crimes like rape and murder, people often debate what the appropriate consequences should be for committing these kinds of crimes. After Jeff and Darren Geare’s younger sister was viciously assaulted and raped in 2004, it took 12 years for her rapist to be apprehended. Her attacker was finally found guilty and sentenced to 22 years in prison and the ordeal of the trial inspired the Geare brothers to write a script about a revenge-fantasy scenario for crime victims and their families. This concept combined with the Geare brothers’ love of genre film helped them create The Retaliators, which follows a pastor who experiences a tragedy that leads him to discover a bizarre, criminal underworld.
After sending the script to Michael Lombardi, who is well known for the series Rescue Me, Lombardi was cast as the pastor, John Bishop.

Plot: An upstanding pastor uncovers a dark and twisted underworld as he searches for answers surrounding his daughter’s brutal murder.
Review: There’s A Lot going on in The Retaliators and that may be a bit of an understatement. Almost feeling like a combination of five different movies, this feels like a bit of a juggling act from the jump. But if you’re a fan of blood and gore, you’re sure to find some thrills from this little independent venture.
I’ve enjoyed Michael Lombardi since his days as Probie on FX’s Rescue Me, so I pleasantly saw him take the lead here. He stars as a pastor who loses his daughter to a devious killer. Oh, and that killer is also a part of this gang, causing a ruckus with another group. There’s also a Jigsaw-like figure who kidnaps said killer and decides he will punish him.

"John, I want to introduce you to the man who murdered your daughter." Better Noise Music has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror film titled The Retaliators, which will be out to watch in theaters and on VOD starting in September. It first premiered at FrightFest in the UK, and at the Screamfest, last year. Earning mostly positive reviews from the fests, it is a "viscerally entertaining film that makes us wonder how far we will truly go to protect what's ours." An upstanding pastor uncovers a dark, twisted underworld as he searches for answers surrounding his daughter's brutal murder. The film stars Michael Lombardi, Marc Menchaca, and Joseph Gatt, with Jacoby Shaddix, Katie Kelly, Abbey Hafer, Ivan Moody, and Zoltan Bathory. This goes from a simple story about revenge to something totally insane by the end, with a wallop of intense footage in the last few seconds.

Gonzalez and Smith do a splendid job of bringing the blood,...

There are so many films out there about men who are transformed by quests for revenge after their female relatives suffer violence that they could practically be a genre in themselves – in one year, Eye For Film found that they made up over 4% of all films which got a major UK cinema release. The Retaliators, however, seems to be conscious that this is a problem. Whilst it might be accused of trying to have its cake and eat it, a more generous view would allow that it is endeavouring to question the format and search for a middle ground which acknowledges the intensity of the emotions involved but acknowledges the problems with treating vigilante violence as a valid solution.

Joey Chestnut is once again the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest champion. This year, he was gunning for his 14th Mustard Belt and hoping to break his own record of 75 hot dogs in 10 minutes. He did both.
It was a close count, though. At the end of the competition, Chestnut came in at a total of 76 weiners. The competitive eater credited his fans for helping him to break the record, noting that he started to slow down in the sixth minute of the contest but that their cheers pushed him forward.
Though Chestnut was the odds-on favorite going into the contest, he remained humble and focused. “Many huge favorites have failed to deliver… I need to stay focused, hungry, and happy,” he tweeted just before the competition.
ESPN had the exclusive broadcast rights for the competition this year but, unfortunately, the broadcast experienced technical difficulties during the event.

Even if you’d based most of your horror movie in Central Park, you’d think you could come up with a better title for it. No horror-themed thoughts, ideas or images go through my head with the simple title Central Park but here I am reviewing the film anyway…
Poor title aside, Central Park does do some good things. I actually quite like the idea of a slasher movie where the killer just chases people around the famous park with police unable to capture them for years. Whether it’s a good or bad thing, Central Park isn’t that film.
There is a killer and his victims are a group of teenagers but the writers throw in a whole lot more to the story than that.

When you hear the words “functional drug addict,” you tend to picture an adult — the physician quietly prescribing pharmaceuticals to himself, the cashier powering through a shift on amphetamines, the stay-at-home mom who gets by each day by getting stoned. But in “Sno Babies,” Kristen (Katie Kelly), a bright and beautiful 16-year-old whose life is a whirlwind of AP classes and gossip-girl niches and hip-hop parties, shoots heroin into the vein underneath her tongue. The sheer cringe factor aside, we recognize that the reason that she and her friend, the bad-news dark angel Hannah (Paola Andino), choose this particular method is so they won’t have to hide the track marks.
When the drug hits Kristen’s bloodstream, she sinks back into the pillow in a rush that’s so blissfully debilitating it all but knocks her out. (The music we hear is a slowly crashing rhapsody.) But once she comes down,...

Keep an eye on Katie Kelly. The young actress has an X factor that suggests an ability to shoot to the top of the A-list in no time. You can just tell, sometimes. Kelly showcases that star quality, as well as some serious acting chops, in the new drama Sno Babies, a film that asks a lot of her. It’s a challenging role, one she’s able to handle with ease, delivering work that elevates the flick in a big way. The final product overall is a bit hit or miss, in terms of its effectiveness, but Kelly never hits a false note. If you choose to see this tale of drug addiction, you’ll be seeing it for her, and you likely won’t regret it. The movie is an addiction drama, focusing on the hidden epidemic of opioid addiction in small town, suburban America. It depicts not...

"One bad puff can put you in the ground." Better Noise Films has revealed the official trailer for an indie drama titled Sno Babies, one of the first feature films from editor-turned-filmmaker Bridget Smith. Sno Babies depicts the grim realities of addiction and its effects on families. Kristen and Hannah are likeable, college-bound teens - and heroin addicts - hiding their plight behind the façade of middle-class suburbia. This is one of those dramatic films where the innuendo in the title is actually a reference to drugs, and not something else. Starring Katie Kelly & Paola Andino as Kristen & Hannah, with Michael Lombardi, Evangeline Young, Niko Terho, and Joanne Baron. This looks like a powerful film about drugs and addiction, but it seems a bit too cliche and heavy-handed overall to really make an impact. Still worth a look. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Bridget Smith's Sno Babies, direct from...

He was working two jobs on both sides of the river, seven nights a week, all to provide a lower-middle class lifestyle for his wife, Andrea (Zoe Kazan), and two kids. Things weren’t great, and it seemed like they were only about to get worse.
But after Vincent graciously agreed to pay off his his brother’s gambling bills, everything changed. Frankie’s debt turned into Vincent’s gain, as the mobsters he paid learned to appreciate his work ethic and ingenuity. This year's Atx Television Festival lineup has just gotten even more awesome: The cast of "The West Wing" is one of several new additions now set for a reunion at the event.
Atx Fest announced its updated lineup on Thursday, and the most exciting name is easily "The West Wing," NBC's political drama that ran for seven seasons and racked up multiple Emmy wins (and stole viewers' hearts) from 1999 to 2006. Creator and original showrunner Aaron Sorkin is set to appear, as are the following cast members: Bradley Whitford (Josh), Dule Hill (Charlie), Joshua Malina (Will), Richard Schiff (Toby), and Janel Moloney (Donna).
More actors are expected to join the panel (after all, you can't call it a proper "West Wing" reunion without President Bartlett and C.J. Cregg, a.k.a. Martin Sheen and Allison Janney), which also includes director Thomas Schlamme. The participants will gather in honor of the...

Chicago – When the first four episodes of the new season of “Rescue Me” allows the actors to merely live in the shoes of these characters they know so well after five seasons on the air then the show finds some of the magic that it produced more consistently in its superior early seasons. Sadly, the writers know they can’t just shoot a drama about guys hanging out in a firehouse and the scripted drama often doesn’t click.

At the end of last season, Teddy (Lenny Clarke) shot Tommy (Denis Leary) and left him bleeding on the bar floor. Creators Peter Tolan and Leary make the very risky choice of opening the new season on the other side of existence with Tommy seeing a vision of Heaven followed by a vision of Hell. The entirety of the first episode of the new season never finds the right...

Denis Leary, in casual salmon shirt, brought along his wife and daughter to the premiere of "Rescue Me". The red carpet event took place at AMC Theaters Empire 25 in Times Square on Thursday, June 24 night, around five days before the sixth season begins airing on FX Network.
All the main and supporting actors such as Callie Thorne, Michael Lombardi, Adam Ferrera, and Olivia Crocicchia generally came to the special screening. Steven Pasquale in particular walked the red carpet with crutches on. There was hardly any guest except those that the cast brought along.
In the last season, Leary's Tommy was shot in the bar and appeared to be dead. Some reporters have been given the chance to screen the first episode back and revealed that [Spoiler Alert] Tommy has a terrifying vision of the afterlife but was able to be revived.
Shaken, Tommy attempts to reconnect with his friends and family back on the outside.

When Mike Lombardi isn't busy playing Mike Silletti on FX's hit show "Rescue Me," he's playing frontman to his New York-based band Apache Stone. The band, which has been compared to Alice in Chains and Audioslave and Lombardi's vocals have been called slightly Kiedis-like, were written into the show's story line. When their lead singer's not busy shooting, they perform gigs around the city on the weekend.
Lombardi, who's has a passion for Native American history and named the band after an arrowhead given to him made out of apache stone, has performed tracks like "Synthetic Self" and "Social Outlaw" from their debut album on the show last season. Even Denis Leary's character rags on the band's name a bit in an episode. But Lombardi, who's shooting the show's upcoming sixth season, says he was psyched when Leary and the writers approached him about bringing his real-life band into the show.
