Maren Morris has been vocal about her sexuality, as well as her support of various LGBTQ+ organizations. The singer was in hot water recently for her decision to take her young son with her to a drag show, sparking outrage among some of her fans. So, what did she have to say?
Maren Morris Has Been An Outspoken Ally
As a public figure, entertainer, and celebrity, Maren Morris has used her platform to support the LGBTQ+ community. Naturally, this has ruffled some feathers, particularly among her fan base. Many listeners are still upset over Maren changing her sound and taking her style in a different direction. However, she is clearly not concerned with pleasing everyone.
There’s also the fact that, for every fan she loses, she gains another, if not more. The one thing about Maren Morris is, she has been through a lot over the years. Fresh from...

We often get so wrapped up in our work that we overlook the little things that bring us joy. We might prioritize work because it’s essential, but eventually, a particular moment can unexpectedly trigger nostalgic feelings and remind us of what truly matters. It could be a familiar scent, a melody from the past, or even a place we used to visit. Suddenly, we find ourselves transported back to moments when these little things brought us immense happiness. Similarly, for Camila, in the film Never Too Late to Celebrate, a wave of nostalgia hits when she encounters a Spanish teacher who sings a familiar phrase from her past. This phrase instantly transports her back in time, evoking memories deeply connected to her father and her Mexican roots.

In case you haven’t heard, season 23 of “The Voice” will be Blake Shelton‘s last. Blake has been one of four coaches on the long-running singing competition series since it began in 2011. He is not only the longest-tenured coach at the full 23 seasons so far, but also boasts the most wins with nine, including in season 22 with Bryce Leatherwood. Needless to say, Blake’s red chair, cowboy boots, and alcohol-filled cup (allegedly) will be hard to fill by anyone else, but there must be a replacement. We think the void can only be filled by someone with enough country music cachet to match Blake’s and so we’ve compiled a list of 16 industry stars that would fit the bill. Scroll through our gallery of potential Blake replacements above (or click here for direct access).

For Marcus Mumford, getting involved with the original music for “Daisy Jones & the Six” was a matter of being in the right place at the right time.
The Mumford & Sons frontman was working at L.A.’s Sound City Studios on his solo record with multi-instrumentalist and producer Blake Mills — who co-wrote and executive produced all 25 songs heard in the Prime Video series, which chronicles the rise and fall of a ’70s rock band — when Mills asked if he wanted to help write a tune for the show.
“It was a slower day for my record and Blake was like, ‘Look, do you wanna try this thing for Daisy?'” Mumford tells Variety. “And I often think that… writing begets more writing. If you’re able to flex a similar muscle in a different way, then it can often help the writing you have in front of you as well.

There’s nothing little about the whopper at the heart of “A Little White Lie,” a comic drama about fame and impostor syndrome. The movie’s central conceit — pretending to be a renowned author, a janitor accepts an invitation to visit a liberal arts college — is rife with potential. But writer-director Michael Maren (whose 2014 debut “A Short History of Decay” also featured an author protagonist) sticks to the obvious, ignoring potential themes of blind celebrity worship and oblivious academia that would have added some satirical edge to this genial but dull movie.
Based on Chris Belden’s 2013 novel “Shriver,” “A Little White Lie” focuses on a handyman (Michael Shannon) leading a reclusive life in a rundown apartment building who receives an invitation from a university to be the guest of honor at their annual literary festival.

The Voices Behind ‘Naatu Naatu’
Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj are the singers who brought composer M.M. Keeravaani’s Golden Globe-winning and Oscar nominated song “Naatu Naatu” from S.S. Rajamouli’s “Rrr” to life.
Featuring lyrics by Chandrabose, the energetic song, shot against the backdrop of the Mariinskyi Palace in Kyiv, Ukraine, shows stars Ram Charan and N.T. Rama Rao Jr. in a dance-off.
Bhairava is the son of Keeravaani and has watched the composer work since childhood. He made his film singing debut in 2011 with “Rajanna” and has sung several hit songs since. He made his film composing debut with 2019’s “Mathu Vadalara.”
“It was quite simple. Rahul and I were instructed to render the song with an uninhibited attitude and maintain the kind of energy the song and the situation demanded. Also, getting an in-depth insight into the song situation also helped,” Bhairava says about the preparation for “Naatu Naatu.

We're back with another Blu-ray round-up! As always, I gather up the latest releases for you in one handy spot. You're welcome. This latest round-up includes Criterion's release of Terry Gilliam's "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen," Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet playing a pair of fine young cannibals in "Bones and All," Ralph Fiennes serving up "The Menu," and a tooth-drilling double feature of "The Dentist" movies.
Bones And All
Luca Guadagnino's "Bones and All" is a beautiful road trip movie that just happens to be about cannibals. It's the 1980s, and Maren (Taylor Russell) has a big secret: she's a cannibal who can't resist eating human flesh. After an unfortunate incident involving a classmate, Maren hits the road. She eventually encounters Lee (Timothée Chalamet), another cannibal. It turns out there are cannibals all over the country, and they can sense each other. Lee and Maren fall...

The believability of Luca Guadagnino’s spine-chilling feature “Bones and All” is no small feat, given the grotesque cannibalistic behavior exhibited by the film’s protagonists; but the task is one that the audio editors and mixers took to extremes, destroying raw chickens to achieve the effect of consuming another human being.
“They had to buy many chickens and break bones and destroy flesh,” emphasized Michele Gualdrini, a recording mixer on the film.
Based on a 2015 novel of the same name by Camille DeAngelis, “Bones and All” is a horror romance that stars cannibal outcasts Maren (Taylor Russell) and Lee (Timothée Chalamet), who embark on a road trip to evade the consequences of their actions.
The 130-minute feature contains no shortage of graphic content, including one especially nauseating sequence where a fellow cannibal named Sully eats an elderly woman after breaking into her home with Maren. Supervising dialogue editor Davide Favargiotti...

It’s been a rough year and I know I’m not the only one. The harsh reality that the Covid-19 pandemic has become a part of everyday life, despite the fact that a lot of people continue to ignore it, coupled with the fact that just living day to day has become a major struggle for a lot of us this year, has led to folks looking for some form of escape, even if it’s brief. That’s where movies, television, and games come in. Movies are my escape. Movies make me happy. Talking to filmmakers about making movies makes me happy. I love all kinds of movies, but horror is my favorite genre. Horror is the genre I visit daily. I know I’ve said it in previous years, but damn, 2022 has been an amazing year for horror, which just so happens to be the genre most...

Cinema just had a rough year. While there were definitely upbeat stories to accompany the now constant anxieties percolating throughout the industry—from Tom Cruise once again asserting his dominance as the king of summer via Top Gun: Maverick to the surprise and wholly welcome blockbuster status of A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once—the fact remains that “the movies” are in a state of upheaval and uncertainty. Do massive, mainstream audiences still have taste left in their palates for original adult-skewing films? And if streaming is the future for dramas, comedies, and other “mid-budget” movies, what then is the future of streaming given that market’s own recent crises?
It’s a weird time. Yet one thing stays consistent: the satisfaction that comes with seeing a good movie. Whether that film makes you laugh, cry, or shudder, there is still an ineffable joy derived from being lost for...

In an undeniably great year for horror, the most unsettling scene from one of the more popular series featured a man offering his neighbor a sandwich. Granted, that man was cannibalistic serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, his neighbor the woman who got him evicted, and the sandwich possibly contained human flesh, but the menace and uncertainty of the exchange — and the show at large — captured the horrified attention of millions of viewers. Ryan Murphy’s Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, starring Evan Peters, is one of Netflix’s most-watched (and...

Taylor Russell devours every morsel of her time on screen in “Bones and All,” the new film from director Luca Guadagnino about teen cannibals. Russell plays the young, flesh-hungry Maren, and in a key scene where co-star Timothée Chalamet (as Maren’s love interest) makes a stunning confession about his past, the two unlock a vulnerability that was Russell’s favorite part of filming. “That scene had a lot of weight to it,” Russell recalls. “There was a levity there that was really beautiful, and I love watching Timmy [Chalamet] do his thing. You can only control so much and then you must let go and allow everything else to influence you.”
On this episode of the award-winning Variety Awards Circuit Podcast, we talk to Russell about her role in “Bones and All,” as she discusses what it was like to work alongside Chalamet and Mark Rylance, as well as her...

Editors note: Deadline’s Read the Screenplay series debuts and celebrates the scripts of films that will factor in this year’s movie awards races.
Bones and All is the acclaimed cannibal romance reteaming Luca Guadagnino and Timothée Chalamet following their work together on the Sundance breakout Call Me by Your Name.
The MGM film written by Guadagnino’s regular collaborator David Kajganich —who’d previously penned his features Bigger Splash and Suspiria — is based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Camille DeAngelis. The following post contains some spoilers for many of 2022's horror hits, so reader beware!
At this point in the horror canon, the archetype of the final girl has been messed with and subverted in an exploration of what the concept can do and be. Like anything and everything surrounding conventional "film history," it is a mold meant to be played with, and it continues to be fun and exciting to see what filmmakers and TV writers continue to dream up for our last women standing.
In fact, the ways in which the trope has started to be subverted, both big and small, pack a real punch and remind us why we loved the archetype in the first place. After all, it has endured this long and is still a part of the horror canon that we hold dear. We're still trying to reinvent it and find new ways for...

Suspiria remake (watch it Here) director Luca Guadagnino’s horror film / cannibal love story Bones and All has received good reviews – it’s sitting at 82 positive on Rotten Tomatoes, and our own JimmyO gave the film an 8/10 review you can read at This Link. But it’s not the sort of movie that was ever going to set the box office on fire, and it has pulled in just 11 million during its three weeks of release. So it’s no surprise that United Artists will be sending the movie to PVOD on December 13th.
Bones and All is in good company, as IndieWire reports that major awards season contenders The Banshees of Inisherin and The Fabelmans (a box office failure directed by Steven Spielberg) will also be reaching PVOD on the same date.

“I’ve worked since I was 13 years old,” says Taylor Russell. “So many random things. Mostly restaurants, but I worked at a jewelry store, and I almost worked for Amazon, doing shipping and receiving.” She laughs. “Yeah, I’ve dipped my toe in a few different sectors.” Surprisingly, the job that probably proved useful in later life was a short stint in a butcher’s shop: handling all that raw meat must have come in handy when Luca Guadagnino came calling with the female lead for his stylish new horror project, an adaptation of Camille DeAngelis’s acclaimed 2016 YA novel Bones and All.

Writer, director, and producer Kathryn Bigelow may be best known for her Oscar-winning action drama "The Hurt Locker," but her career is longer and more varied than many fans realize. Over the last 40 years, Bigelow has only released 10 feature films, but she has also worked in television and made a number of short films, resulting in a diverse and fascinating filmography. Despite early success with the surfer thriller "Point Break," Bigelow has maintained an independent filmmakers' sensibility, working in genres as diverse as horror and historical drama.
While Bigelow's visual style and thematic interests have shifted throughout her career, what unites all of Bigelow's films is an interest in masculinity and patriarchy, along with a mastery of action and suspense. With two Oscars, two BAFTAs, and many other accolades under her belt, Bigelow has cemented herself as one of the most respected directors in modern Hollywood, particularly when it comes to thrillers.

Formative Friendships in Armageddon Time
The 1980 backdrop of James Gray’s semi-autobiographical drama feels familiar: A celebrity turned politician challenges the establishment, racial tensions simmer and socioeconomic disparities loom large. And one comforting time-honored aspect endures: Queens sixth-graders Paul Graff (Banks Repeta) and Johnny Davis (Jaylin Webb) dress alike. “Because they’re best friends,” says costume designer Madeline Weeks, who kept the cast in late-’70s wardrobe, conveying the era’s pre-fast-fashion consumer mindset.
Paul, from a middle-class, two-parent Jewish family, and Johnny, a Black boy confronting the daily trauma of racism at school (and in the world at large), bond over their creative aspirations. Paul fantasizes of being a “famous artist,” while Johnny yearns to join NASA and see a Sugarhill Gang concert. “Johnny and Paul love style,” says Weeks. If I were to sum up with one word what the best way to describe Luca Guadagnino‘s filmography would be, it is that they are all about one thing: love.
Every one of his films is about love in some way, shape, or form, whether in its purest state in Call Me By Your Name or in its darkest in Suspiria.
All of Guadagnino’s characters desire love in some way, and in each of his films, he explores just how powerful love can be. Everyone is deserving of love because it comes from everyone, and the Italian director’s latest film proves that anyone, even cannibals, can get a piece of that meaty action.

A film with a heavy focus on romance, starring Timothée Chalamet, is likely to attract a very particular type of audience. One can only imagine that some of them will be running screaming from the cinema just a few minutes in.
Focused on sweet young outsider Maren (Taylor Russell), the film begins as she is talking to girls at her new high school. They invite her to a party; she says that he dad won’t want her to go, but that she’ll try to sneak out. They have status; they are movers and shakers in the school. She’s shy, fragile. We worry that she might be bullied, but director Luca Guadagnino reassures us with his soft lighting, his pink-tinged colour palette and wistful music. Then, out of nowhere, Maren does something utterly horrific, and it becomes clear that her father wasn’t worried about a threat to her at all,...

Francesca Scorsese was cut from Luca Guadagnino’s film Bones and All, the director has revealed.
The recently released horror-romance stars Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell in a film adaptation of Camille De Angelis’s 2015 novel.
Bones and All was also supposed to feature Francesca Scorsese, daughter of Martin Scorsese, before her role as Harmony was cut.
Scorsese, 23, addressed her absence from the film, sharing a post on her Instagram story: “Rip Harmony lol.”
It appears there are no hard feelings, however, with Scorsese writing: “For those asking, Harmony is no longer in the film, she had fun though!!”
The actor accompanied her post with what appears to be stills from her deleted scenes, in which she is seen in character in a car with Russell and Chalamet.
Scorsese previously worked with Guadagnino on the 2020 HBO series We Are Who We Are.
Bones and All has received favourable reviews from critics and viewers.

The stars of “Bones and All” ate something a lot sweeter than human flesh.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Taylor Russell talks about filming the cannibal romance with co-star Timothée Chalamet.

While the film has a soft heart at its center, “Call Me by Your Name” director Luca Guadagnino didn’t skimp on the gore factor when it came to his characters’ appetites, but it wasn’t actually people they were eating while filming those scenes.
“It was some combination of those maraschino cherries and dark chocolate sauce and things like that,” Russell explained. “They were very kind about us having, I guess, some tastier sweet treats.”
In the film, Russell plays a teenager in the ’80s who goes off in search her mom after being abandoned by her father due to her cannibalism.

“My Cannibal Romance” or “The Fine Young Cannibals” might be alternate titles for this film except that it suggests comedy rather than the high-concept horror film that Bones And All really is. Starring Timothee Chalamet and Canadian actress Taylor Russell as a very different kind of star-crossed lovers, Bones And All does two surprising things: combining romance with horror in a very different way and creating a new kind of monster beyond the usual vampires, werewolves and zombies. The characters at the center of this tale are born as cannibals, compelled to eat human flesh the same way vampires are compelled to drink blood. However, despite the image that evokes,...

The box office woes are far from the whole story about the three awards-worthy films that opened or expanded over Thanksgiving weekend – MGM/Uar’s “Bones and All,” Sony Pictures’ “Devotion” and Walt Disney’s “Strange World.” Despite low financial returns, the studios are forging ahead in their bids for Academy Awards attention, as they should.
The cannibal feature “Bones and All” struggled to bring audiences to the theaters despite the star power of Timothée Chalamet. Still, for those who love it (spoiler alert: me), it’s one of the year’s best films, with its bloody embodiment of teenage love, meticulous crafts and high-caliber performances that elicit a passionate response.
It might not work for voters who are squeamish about severed fingers and blood dripping on nice furniture, but the film won prizes for its director Luca Guadganino and best young actress for star Taylor Russell when premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
