Merit Hemmingson
Merit Hemmingson is a Swedish pianist, organist, singer, composer and bandleader. She started playing the accordion at four and the piano at seven, planned to attend Oscar Petersons jazz school in Toronto, instead she went to New York and formed the band Merit H and Her Girl Stars with with four black female jazz musicians in 1963. She left the jazz scene and found my real big "Love" the Hammond B3 organ and started the group Meritones. In the beginning of the seventies Swedish folk music entered Merit Hemmingson's life which resulted in three gold discs "Huvva", "Trollskog" and "Bergtagen".
