GTA 6 is finally in development at Rockstar Games, which means that fans of the series can look forward to another crime-filled romp across a massive map full of banks to rob and cars to steal. While the game is allegedly in the early stages of production, and likely a few years away from release, there have been several rumors over the past few years that suggest that Rockstar has already laid out a few key things about the highly-anticipated sequel.
There have been several rumors that suggest that Rockstar already knows where the next game is going to take place — some obvious choices, including the franchise’s trifecta of cities, as well as some surprising locations that could take the series in a new direction.
While none of these locations are confirmed as of yet, we’ve compiled a list of what we’ve heard so far:

The video game business has a new profit participation lawsuit to obsess over. This one entails the massive success of the Grand Theft Auto franchise from Take-Two Interactive Software and Rockstar North. Take-Two made it to court first on Monday seeking a declaratory judgment in New York federal court that it owes former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies nothing from a 2009 Royalty Plan. The company is also asserting that Benzies breached a contract by claiming entitlement to royalties. On Tuesday, the Scotland-born Benzies filed his own complaint in New York Supreme Court with much greater detail

Leslie Benzies, former president of the Rockstar North video game development studio responsible for the creation of the ever-popular “Grant Theft Auto” series, is suing Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, for $150 million in unpaid royalties from “Grand Theft Auto 5” and other games in the series. A statement issued by Benzies’ attorneys says he was “enticed” into a sabbatical in April 2015, and when Benzies attempted to return to work, he discovered his credentials had been revoked. Rockstar had a boilerplate statement about Benzies’ status that it had been issuing in response to inquiries as recently as this year.

Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies has left his position at the company, Rockstar have confirmed, and nobody knows where the talented man is headed next.
In a statement issued to Kotaku earlier today, a representative for the studio confirmed Benzies’ departure, having only kind words to say about the departure, with a side of disappointment.
We can confirm that Leslie Benzies went on sabbatical on September 1, 2014 and has decided not to return to work for the company. We are very grateful for Leslie’s contributions to Rockstar over the last 15 years as we worked together to make some amazing games.
Leslie helped us build an incredible team that will continue to create great experiences for our fans. Leslie will always be a friend to the company and of course we are going to miss him but we wish him the absolute best for the future.

During the first segment of Develop’s Inside Rockstar series, the president of the prestigious studio, Leslie Benzies, declared that the company already has preliminary plans for future Grand Theft Auto titles. With that said, Benzies assured the community that the current status of Grand Theft Auto V and its currently unstable online component remain the priority for the developing team.
“We’ve got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don’t know what GTA VI will be, but we’ve got some ideas. GTA Online is the focus right now. There ain’t no rest between finishing V and then Online. Plus we have some other things – stuff, Dlc, I don’t know how to describe it exactly – that we’d like to do, and we’ll pick the right ones.”
Without question, the fifth numerical entry in the monumental franchise pushed the ceiling for Grand Theft Auto.

With Grand Theft Auto V just around the corner, fans have been clamouring for any new information regarding the fifth iteration in Rockstar’s Herculean franchise. We’ve known about the game’s online component and the individual characters for quite some time, however, courtesy of a leaked image thought to be have snapped from the game’s strategy guide, we now have our first visual image of GTA V’s world map.
The image itself was posted on a Reddit thread via GeENie, who was able to pick up the supplementary guide ahead of time, and you can check out the alleged map using the gallery below. Though Rockstar hasn’t openly confirmed the legitimacy of the leak, many of the environmental features seem to dovetail with the footage we’ve seen thus far; such as the location of Mount Chiliad and various residential areas.

The recently revealed multiplayer component of Grand Theft Auto V is going to be big. Very big, promises Leslie Benzies, President of Rockstar North and GTA's chief architect.
In a recent interview with Cvg, Benzies reveals that it's something that his men have wanted to do for a while now, ever since GTA III actually, but they simply haven't had "the manpower or tech power”, to pull the trigger. Until now, obviously.
And as such, given how it has been brewing in Rockstar's collective consciousness for quite some time now, Grand Theft Auto Online practically sounds like a game all by itself.
Benzies discusses at length how its scope will be. When one is considers how it's been described as being a persistent, online word, it’s easily comparable to a full-blown Mmo. Though the multiplayer component will not be immediately accessible at launch. Instead, it will...

According to a recent interview with Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies conducted by French website Jeuzactu (with its finer points translated by Oxm – nice Google Translate chops guys!), the upcoming entry in the company’s esteemed GTA franchise, Grand Theft Auto V, may be keeping its characters a bit more in check with reality this time around.
It’ll still be the crazy GTA we know and love, Benzies points out, but most or all of the general absurdity that occurs will have a logical explanation that ties directly into the overarching plot.
“You won’t see anyone doing crazy things for no reason,” Benzies said of the in-game characters. “The player will have access to enough heavy artillery early in the game, but again, in a particular context and not without reason.”
In other words, the polar opposite of Saints Row. Benzies also had this to say in regard...

In an interview with French gaming site, Jeuxactu (via Oxm), Rockstar North's president, Leslie Benzies has revealed that GTA V, unlike its forerunners, won't spoon feed you with slower-paced, getting to know you missions. Instead, it'll provide frantic action from the get go.
When comparing the game's opening hours to the previous GTA releases, Benzies said, "I think it was the right strategy for stories we wanted to tell at the time, but not this time. Today, we want to surprise people with very intense missions from the start. The pace of the game is much faster than any of its predecessors.
"From the beginning, we want to show off the new game mechanics while creating intense, action-packed gameplay, to capture the player's attention immediately. Remember that the...

Grand Theft Auto V appears to be a game all about “firsts”.
For the first time ever, we will be introduced to not one, not two but three – count them – three playable characters, a feature of which really freshens up the series.
Also new to Rockstar Games’ sandbox crime-fest is animals. Dogs, like Rottweiler Chop in the above image, are expected to not only make an appearance in the game, but also be fully interactive.
Head of Rockstar North Leslie Benzies has confirmed animals won’t just be a “backdrop” in V, stating:
“Animals aren’t just a backdrop, you can expect to see dogs guarding areas and causing the player trouble when they try to sneak past them.”
So there you go, guard dogs, like Chop the Rottweiler, will feature in Grand Theft Auto V.
But how else will we be able to interact with animals?
We know that...

Imagine if Rockstar made a "Grand Theft Auto" game that combined all of the cities featured in past games in the franchise. It could be a beautiful thing and recent comments hint that this is something Rockstar wants to accomplish.
In a recent interview with Digital Times, "Grand Theft Auto" series producer and head of Rockstar North Leslie Benzies talked about the recent "Vice City" 10th anniversary, and revealed some of Rockstar's hopes for the future of the long-loved franchise.
Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas, and in that context reimagining "Vice City" would be very interesting.
Flying between different areas could be pretty fun, but If Rockstar did one day create a "Grand Theft Auto" that included all of the different cities, one of the challenges would be the time period.

Take-Two and Rockstar Games’ execs will continue their game changing relationship. The publishers behind some of the best games on the market, including the GTA franchise and Red Dead Redemption, have opted to renew “key” contracts at Take Two’s recent report to investors. The news comes only one week after La Noire was released, selling nearly 2 million copies in the first week.
The executives cited in the contract renewal include Sam Houser, Dan Houser and Leslie Benzies, members of the Grand Theft Auto creative team. Although no official numbers were released, the agreement is expected to be in-line with the prior arrangements with Rockstar’s team.
Take Two also announced that revenue was markedly up, with a 49% spurt over the prior year. Borderlands was also released in a Game of the Year edition last year, following its success with both online and offline gamers.
