It’s been more than two years since the finale of HBO’s the Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst and the dramatic arrest of the eponymous real estate scion at its center, for the murder of his close friend Susan Berman, who authorities suspect knew too much about the disappearance of Durst’s first wife, Kathleen.
Since being arrested in March 2015, Durst, 74, has been sitting in a Los Angeles County Jail awaiting trial, which is still months away.
He denies being responsible for Berman’s killing and has pleaded not guilty to the first-degree murder charge against him.

Brother of Robert Durst’s Missing First Wife Claims He Was Abusive: ‘There’s No Doubt’ He Killed Her
The first wife of real estate scion Robert Durst has been officially declared dead, 35 years after she was last seen.

Although Durst has long been suspected in Kathleen’s death, he has never been criminally charged. The declaration of her death opens the door for Durst’s siblings to pursue a civil suit.

While all great stories need one helluva ending to put them over the top, murder mysteries are particularly reliant on the final reveal. Those final moments don’t have to be overly twisty or even surprising. The ending doesn’t need to reinvent the genre or go out of the way to be different. The final unveiling just needs to satisfy the story that preceded it — which, usually, is about more than just solving the mystery. Heck, sometimes there doesn’t even need to be a murder — but we’ll get to that.

Judge Mark A. As expected, The Jinx's Robert Durst has pled guilty to gun charges, the New York Times reports. The real-estate magnate appeared in New Orleans federal court on Wednesday to plead guilty to illegally possessing a .38-caliber revolver that the FBI found in his hotel room during his arrest in March 2015 for the murder of his friend Susan Berman. That arrest took place the day before the airing of The Jinx's season finale, in which Durst, 72, was famously caught saying, "Killed them all, of course" on a live mic. As part of his plea bargain, Durst will be sentenced to 85 months (a little over seven years) in federal prison. He is expected to be transferred to Los Angeles federal prison by August 18 (the deadline for his arraignment), where he'll face the first-degree murder charge.
