Jay-Z is doubling down, adding new allegations to the malicious prosecution and defamation lawsuit he filed against his Jane Doe rape accuser and her lawyers in Alabama.
In an amended complaint filed late Monday in Mobile, the Roc Nation founder alleges his accuser “has not stopped” making statements about him even though she agreed in February to voluntarily dismiss the sexual assault lawsuit that first identified him by name last year. In that revised version of her complaint, filed Dec. 8, Doe publicly accused Jay-Z of raping her alongside Sean Combs...

What happens when hip-hop royalty, legal drama, and shocking accusations collide? Well, you get a real-life courtroom thriller starring Jay-Z, attorney Tony Buzbee, and a lawsuit that’s been creating waves. Back when Buzbee was still involved in P Diddy’s case, representing Jane Doe, who accused the two singers of r*ping her, the attorney had filed a case against Shawn Carter.
But surprisingly, after Jane Doe withdrew her claims, even Tony Buzbee withdrew as an attorney in P Diddy’s ongoing lawsuit. However, Jay-Z didn’t let go—he countersued Buzbee for extortion and defamation. While the singer claimed that he was being targeted for refusing hush money demands, Buzbee claimed that this was just a rich man’s technique to silence whistleblowers.

Lawyers for Jay-Z and Tony Buzbee traded scathing barbs in a California courtroom Tuesday as a judge said he likely won’t rule on a key dismissal motion in the legal war until he hears the recording of Jay-Z’s rape accuser allegedly claiming Buzbee “pushed” her to make a false claim for himself.
“I was actually thinking of asking to hear the audio,” Los Angeles County Judge Mark Epstein said during the tense afternoon hearing. “It might be that that sheds light on things,” he added. After Jay-Z’s...

With six weeks to go until Sean “Diddy” Combs’ criminal trial for sex trafficking and more begins, the incarcerated Bad Boy Records founder now has one fewer lawsuit to deal with among the dozens he is fighting.
A federal judge today dismissed a rape case from a Jane Doe against Combs because the plaintiff did not file as required under her own name after a motion to proceed anonymously was denied earlier this month. Judge Lewis J. Liman — yes, the same judge who is overseeing the Blake Lively vs. Justin Baldoni case — gave Jane Doe until March 20 to make that filing or the matter of an alleged 1995 rape by Combs at a party for Biggie Smalls aka The Notorious B.I.G. would be closed.
On March 6, Judge Liman wrote “the very gravity of the charges, combined with the fact that Plaintiff has presented no evidence of specific and concrete...

After a judge said last month that he was close to dismissing Jay-Z’s extortion allegation against Texas attorney Tony Buzbee, the same judge signaled Wednesday he had changed his mind and was inclined to let the Roc Nation founder proceed with the legal claim.

The Jane Doe who recently dismissed a lawsuit claiming Jay-Z raped her alongside Sean Combs when she was 13 years old was captured on an audio recording agreeing with private investigators that Jay-Z did not assault her.
In the recording, first reported by ABC News and independently obtained by Rolling Stone, the woman also appears to claim that her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, “pushed” her to sue Jay-Z.

Jay-Z, the billionaire rapper and entrepreneur, found himself catapulted into Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex abuse saga Dec. 8 when he was named as a co-defendant in a refiled lawsuit garnering global headlines. In the amended complaint, the Grammy winner, born Shawn Carter, was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside Combs at an awards show afterparty more than 20 years ago. He swiftly and vehemently denied the “heinous” allegations, saying they were part of a “blackmail attempt.” He later sued for defamation in two states, claiming he was the victim of a shakedown.

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z’s scorched-earth defense of his reputation and his company following potentially career-ending accusations of raping a teenage girl with Sean “Diddy” Combs has brought another lawsuit, this time taking on his accuser directly.
The global rap superstar, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, filed a 25-page suit on Monday in a Mobile, Alabama court against the unnamed woman, saying she filed a “false” and “malicious” case that was “strategically and tactically calculated and timed to inflict maximum pain and suffering on [him].”
In the now-withdrawn lawsuit that rattled the pop culture world in December, the woman claimed that when she was 13, Combs and Carter sexually assaulted her at a party after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. The suit claims that the woman, who is not named in court documents as she is allegedly a sexual assault victim, knew she was fabricating the story; at one point, the new suit claims,...

Jay-Z is lying and “reeks of desperation,” says the lawyer representing the Jane Doe who accused the Grammy-winning rapper and the incarcerated Sean “Diddy” Combs of repeatedly raping her in 2000. In an already pugilistic case that was dismissed by the plaintiff on Valentine’s Day after it was played out in court and in the press for months, Tony Buzbee today claims things have turned even more “nasty” in recent weeks.
“Pay attention here: They wanted a headline so in that new case they Falsely claimed she recanted. She didn’t. She hasn’t. She won’t,” Buzbee said today in a post on social media.
Representatives for Jay-Z did not respond to request for comment on Buzbee’s latest comments and the accusations they contain. Two days after Jay-Z and Beyoncé hosted their annual post-Oscars Gold Party at Los Angeles’ iconic Chateau Marmont, the superstar’s Roc Nation was...

In December of last year, an unidentified woman filed a lawsuit in which she claimed that she had been raped by rappers Jay Z and Diddy in 2000.
The accuser stated in her filing that she was just 13 years old at the time of the alleged attack.
That lawsuit was later dropped, and it looked as though the matter had come to a close.
Earlier this week, however, Jay re-opened it when he filed a countersuit against his accuser.

As the Chateau Marmont staff this morning were cleaning up after Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s annual post-Oscars Gold party, the “Empire State of Mind” superstar was doubling down against the Jane Doe and the lawyer who accused him and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping her as a minor in a now-dismissed case.
“Defendants devised and executed their plan to accuse Mr. Carter of sexual assault and used national news and media outlets to disseminate the fabricated accusations to millions despite the falsity of the accusation,” proclaims the defamation and malicious prosecution complaint filed Monday in federal court in Alabama against the now middle-aged Jane Doe, as well as attorneys Tony Buzbee and David Fortney.
Using terms like “evil conspiracy,” the filing say the trio “were soullessly motivated by greed, in abject disregard of the truth and the most fundamental precepts of human decency” in claiming Jay-Z a.k.a. Shawn Carter...

Jay-Z has filed a new defamation and malicious prosecution lawsuit against the Alabama-based Jane Doe who publicly accused him of a sexual assault involving Sean Combs but then later admitted inconsistencies in her story and voluntarily dismissed her lawsuit last month.

The case that alleged Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs repeatedly raped a 13-year-old after the 2000 MTV VMAs was dismissed on Valentines’ Day by its Jane Doe plaintiff. However, in legal moves on both coasts, the two rappers are apparently far from done with her lawyer, Tony Buzbee.
Representing dozens and dozens of alleged victims of sexual assault and alleging attacks and abuse by the Bad Boy Records founder, the brash Houston-based attorney now finds himself pummeled by Combs and Shawn Carter (Jay-Z’s real name) in federal court in New York over unauthorized practice of law, and in state court in California.
A tentative ruling out of an early morning anti-slapp hearing Tuesday before LA Superior Court Judge Mark H. Epstein appeared to render Jay-Z’s extortion claim against Buzbee Doa. Yet, it seems the defamation claim from the “99 Problems” superstar’s initial suit will almost certainly go forward to trial.

A lawsuit accusing Jay-Z of rape has been voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiff, who initially filed it in October before amending the complaint in December to name both Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, and Sean Combs.
The plaintiff had alleged that the two men raped a 13-year-old girl at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000. Representatives for Carter and Combs had denied the accusations.
Following the lawsuit’s dismissal, Carter addressed the decision in a statement. “Today is a victory,” he said. “The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”

The lawsuit accusing Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of repeatedly raping a minor in 2000 after the MTV VMAs was dismissed on Valentine’s Day, but the bitter relationship between the Jay-Z and attorney Tony Buzbee rages on.
Filed four days before the Buzbee-represented Jane Doe “voluntarily dismissed with prejudice” her claims, Jay-Z (aka Shawn Carter) made a declaration in the docket of Los Angeles Superior Court ripping the Texas-based attorney. Rejecting Buzbee’s attempt to have the Roc Nation boss’ defamation and extortion suit essentially gutted, Jay-Z’s February 10 filing says the “career-ending” accusations of assaulting a 13-year-old girl unsurprisingly damaged his business and his family — the former to the tune of $20 million a year.
While not mentioning the NFL, with which Roc Nation has a recently renewed Super Bowl Halftime Show deal, Jay-Z’s declaration makes clear that even if the Roger Goodell-run league was standing by him,...

It’s funny how life can throw curveballs, making us question the stories we hear. One day, we’re facing accusations, and the next, the truth shines through. You might’ve heard the phrase “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” – but what if it doesn’t kill you and you’re still left with scars? The allegations that once hung over Jay-Z like a dark cloud have now been dismissed, shedding light on the often murky world of legal battles and the fight for justice.

Jay-Z and Sean Combs are no longer facing a lawsuit accusing them of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000, according to a court document filed on Friday in New York federal court.
A lawyer for the anonymous accuser moved to dismiss the lawsuit “with prejudice,” meaning it can’t be refiled. Further details weren’t disclosed.
In a statement posted to X, Jay-Z, also known as Shawn Carter, called the allegations “frivolous, fictitious and appalling.” He added, “This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims.”
Combs, in a statement, called the dismissal “yet another confirmation that these lawsuits are built on falsehoods, not facts.” He said accusers have been “hiding behind anonymity,” represented by an “attorney more focused on media headlines than legal merit” and that he expects other lawsuits to be dismissed.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is still facing life behind bars if found guilty in his sex trafficking trial later this year, but on Monday the Bad Boy Records founder and Jay-Z saw one less defendant in the accusations that the duo and an unnamed female celebrity raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000.

In the lull between the Beyoncé-dominated Grammy Awards of February 2 and Kendrick Lamar’s Roc Nation-produced Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 9, Jay-Z is making shifts in strategy in the hopes of getting dismissed claims that the “Big Pimpin” rapper, the incarcerated Sean “Diddy” Combs and a currently unidentified female “Celebrity B” repeatedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in 2000.

Amid the ongoing chaos surrounding Jay-Z, following the arrest of P Diddy, political commentator Candace Owens’ take on Shawn Carter resurfaced. Claiming to be grateful for his musical contribution and his influence on people, Owens then reflected on the moment she lost respect for Carter, and gained faith over Kanye West.

Highlighting incidents from Jay-Z’s career, where he chose his fame and popularity over being a positive influence for Black Americans, Candace Owens called out the famous rapper. She then threw the spotlight on Kanye West as a comparison and mentioned how he never took a step back from saying what’s right, even if he lost followers.

Jay-Z has no intention of walking away from 2024 without continuing to put up a fight against rape allegations.
Three days after a New York-based federal judge refused the “Empire State of Mind” rapper’s efforts to have claims that he, the incarcerated Sean “Diddy” Combs and a still unnamed female Celebrity B repeatedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old over 24 years ago dismissed and the Jane Doe plaintiff unmasked, Jay-Z and his longtime lawyer Alex Spiro are back today for another kick at the judicial can.
As Combs’ May 5 criminal sex trafficking trial looms, Jay-Z and the Quinn Emanuel partner are betting the calendar and geography will help them get the horrific matter tossed out.
“Plaintiff cannot recover for her sole claim under the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act (the Gmv Law), as a matter of law, because the statute does not have retroactive effect,” wrote Spiro in a two-page letter...

Jay-Z is opening yet another new front in his all-out attack on the Jane Doe accuser who alleges he sexually assaulted her with Sean Combs when she was a minor in September 2000.
After suing the woman’s lawyer for extortion, vehemently denying the woman’s claims in a lengthy X post, and asking for expedited orders unmasking the woman and striking her complaint, Jay-Z’s lawyer filed new court paperwork today saying he also plans to challenge the lawsuit on the grounds that Doe’s decades-old rape claim simply doesn...

Sometimes, the truth isn’t wrapped in glitter or spotlighted on the grand stage; it comes out in pieces, slow and deliberate. In a high-profile case against Jay-Z and Sean Combs, the legal skirmishes have proven just as intense as the allegations themselves. As the woman accusing the rap moguls of sexually assaulting her when she was 13 steps forward with her lawsuit, a New York judge has made a bold decision: she can remain anonymous—for now.

Judge Analisa Torres’ ruling, delivered Thursday, ensured that the accuser’s identity remains shielded as the case moves forward, sparking debate over the balance between legal transparency and victim protection. But the legal drama didn’t stop there. The judge also had strong words for Jay-Z’s legal team, calling out their “relentless filing of combative motions” and accusing them of using...

Jay-Z is much more than a rapper or a businessman. He’s a business, man! While fans have mostly flocked to him for the music, Shawn Carter has shown that he has a keen business sense throughout his career.
Despite many years as a beloved rapper and respected mogul, Jay has found himself in some hot water recently. On December 8, one of Diddy’s accusers named the rapper in a civil lawsuit, claiming that Jay raped her when she was 13 years old.
Jay released a statement, denying the allegations and promising to fight them. He claimed that the lawsuit was a “blackmail attempt” against him.

A judge has denied Jay-Z’s efforts to dismiss a lawsuit accusing the rapper and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl more than two decades ago.
In the lawsuit, originally filed in October, a woman identified only as “Jane Doe” sued Combs for allegedly raping her at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. The complaint was amended Dec. 8 to include the allegation that Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was also present and participated in the assault.
Jay-Z has denied all allegations, and his attorney Alex Spiro sought to dismiss the case after the Alabama woman acknowledged inconsistencies in her allegations in an NBC News report published earlier this month. Spiro doubled down last week, speaking outside Roc Nation’s New York headquarters, saying the rap mogul is upset about the suit and that “Mr. Carter has nothing to do with Mr. Combs’ case.”

A long-standing paternity claim against rapper Jay-Z has resurfaced, raising questions and casting a shadow over his public image. Rymir Satterthwaite, a 31-year-old man, alleges to be Jay-Z’s son, born from a relationship with Wanda Satterthwaite in 1992.

Jay-Z’s attorney is looking to dismiss a lawsuit accusing the rapper of raping a 13-year-old girl after the Jane Doe acknowledged inconsistencies in her allegations in a new NBC News report.
In the lawsuit, originally filed in October, a woman identified only as “Jane Doe” sued Sean “Diddy” Combs for allegedly raping her at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. The complaint was amended on Sunday to include the allegation that Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was also present and participated in the assault.
In a new interview with NBC News, the Alabama woman, who is now 38, recounted what she called a “catastrophic event” 24 years ago, alleging that she was given a spiked drink and subsequently assaulted. However, she and her lawyers also recognized some inconsistencies in her recollection of that night in response to the outlet’s questions. “I have made some mistakes,” she said.

The victory Sean “Diddy” Combs scored today over federal prosecutors in gaining access to a laptop while behind bars in Brooklyn surely has to seem a Pyrrhic win after a trio of new rape and sexual assault lawsuits were filed this morning against the one-time music mogul.
In tales chillingly similar in scope and action, three John Does have separately sued Combs in New York State court alleging he plied them with booze and drugged them in hotel rooms or his Hamptons residence so he could attack them. In at least one case, the assault was supposedly filmed. Detailing the rapes taking place between 2019 and 2022, the civil actions, with the trio all individually represented by attorney Thomas Giuffra, are seeking a wide range of damages and jury trials.
Perhaps most revealing is how the specifics in these three cases are similar to literally dozens of others accusations and suits against Combs,...
