In 1946, Lefty's 25th year with the Indians, owner Bill Veeck gave him
his own "night" at the stadium, an honor usually reserved for players.
Veeck presented Lefty with a wheelbarrow filled with 5,000 silver
dollars. When he told Lefty to take the loot away, it was too heavy to
budge. (Veeck had a truck behind the stands waiting to assist.)
