“It is trash, pure trash,” the Catholic League declared about the indie comedy “The Little Hours” when it premiered at Sundance, and the team behind the movie knew a great endorsement when they saw one. The trailer tells you everything you need to know about “The Belko Experiment”, writer James Gunn’s bloody trip to the dark side of the corporate workspace. With Kong: Skull Island stomping its way into theaters this weekend from Legendary and Warner Bros., Daily Dead had the opportunity to join several other journalists on the movie’s press day to catch up with one of the film’s co-stars, Samuel L. Jackson, who chatted about what drives his character, Lt. Colonel Packard. Jackson also discussed how excited he was to get a chance to square off against one of his favorite movie monsters, as well as his experiences working alongside his fellow co-stars.
Packard’s an interesting character, because he's a guy that can't let go of the war. How far did you dig into the perspective of this guy, who still wants to fight, but the government's now sending you guys home? Can you talk about how that continues to drive him once you guys get to the island?
Samuel L. Jackson: Well, it’s...

Kong: Skull Island crashes onto our screen on March 10th, and one final trailer has come our way to give us our best taste yet of what is in store for us. And what is that exactly? Well, judging by this its a nice line in odd humour (mainly from that old hand himself John C. Rielly), intense action, and Kong going medieval on whatever is put in front of him. Seeing the titular Eighth Wonder of the World in action (especially when we get up close and personal with Mr. Kong early on, playing with our heroes helicopters) makes me absolutely giddy, and I seriously can’t wait for this to finally come our way. Released: March 10th Synopsis: This compelling, original adventure from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (“The Kings of Summer”) tells the story of a diverse team of scientists, soldiers and adventurers uniting to explore a mythical, uncharted island in the Pacific,...

We miss the enthusiastic voiceover so common with today’s modern trailers. So many films attempt to charm audiences into the cinemas, or offer a knowing tone intent on creating a sense of artificial excitement. Then you have this new trailer for Warner Bros.’ Kong: Skull Island. It is the very model of vocal enthusiasm, giving us a far less chummy trailer we saw initially. Kong Skull Island looks really, really dangerous.
Warner Bros. and Legendary are building a new cinematic universe with a showdown between this new iteration of King Kong and Godzilla in our future. Rebooted in 2014 by Rogue One director Gareth Edwards Godzilla will next be seen in King of Monsters , which will be directed by Trick R Treat’s Michael Dougherty.

King Kong is roaring back onto our screens in a big, bad way, and if this fantastic new trailer, courtesy of Jimmy Kimmel Live, for Kong: Skull Island is any indication, it’s gonna be a hell of a good time. There’s elements of humour, horror, and even a war drama present in this stylish new glimpse at the movie, and it seem director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) has brought them altogether in a way that will leave us with an endlessly entertaining blockbuster at the end of the day. While the cast is spectacular, with not one, not two, but three Marvel alums (Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, and new girl on the scene Brie Larson) and John C. Rielly bringing the comedy, this movie really belongs to the titular gigantic monkey, and the visual effects bringing Kong to life look spectacular. On top of all that,...

IMDb is suing California Attorney General Kamala Harris to protect its right to post actors' ages on their profiles. A complaint filed Thursday in California federal court aims to overturn Assembly Bill 1687, which requires IMDb.com to remove the ages or birth dates of public figures in the entertainment industry on its site upon request. The law was passed in September as an effort to mitigate age discrimination in Hollywood and has been widely criticized as unconstitutional — a point IMDb emphasizes in its suit. "IMDb shares the worthy goal of preventing age discrimination," writes attorney John C. Hueston in the

Edm conglomerate SFX Entertainment has found itself the subject of ongoing scrutiny in light of its recent bankruptcy filing, and in the days that have passed, numerous details of the company’s unsavory business practices have come to light. Most recently, after its bankruptcy filing, a list of SFX’s outstanding debts has reached the public.
Digital Music News obtained the list, and narrowed it down to only the 40 largest amounts – all of which still come out to just shy of half a billion dollars. While the Us currently doesn't have a release scheduled, the below trailer is our first real outside-of-festival look at Lanthimos' English language debut, which positions Collin Farrell in a dystopian future where if you can't find a mate in a set time you are turned into an animal forever more. The English language debut from director Yorgos Lanthimos’ (Dogtooth), The Lobster, is certainly an odd one, featuring a future where you either find a mate or you’re inexplicably transformed into an animal and let roan the wilderness alone. Into this, comes Colin Farrell as a man who must fall in love or become a lobster for the rest of his life. Yes, you read that right. Already garnering great buzz from this years Cannes Film Festival, this wonderfully surreal love story is unbelievably charming with a quirky sense of fun selling the bizarre premise. Add to that a great cast surrounding Farrell, including Rachel Weisz John C. Riely, Lea Seydoux, and Ben Whishaw, and this definitely one movie to keep your eye on. The list of TV series cancelled too soon is long. Acclaimed shows like "Carnivale," "Firefly," "Journeyman," "Freaks and Geeks," "Pushing Daisies," "Terriers," "Angel," "Undeclared" and many more line bargain basement DVD bins when all should have had at least one more season to really soar.
One of the most painful loses though was that of one of TV's greatest character dramas - HBO's western "Deadwood". Creator David Milch's show wrapped its third season back in 2006 and was put on hold. Though never officially canceled, it has effectively been axed and the cast have gone on to other projects.

Christopher Meloni has had the kind of varied, almost schizophrenic, and very vivid acting career in which the first thing you see him in would likely color your perceptions of him for years to come. I first encountered him in the sixth season of “1st & Ten,” a raunchy ‘80s HBO comedy about a pro football team whose cast at various points included Delta Burke, Shannon Tweed, O.J. Simpson and, for a season — as an ex-con quarterback calling himself Johnny Gunn — a young Meloni. (Here’s the opening credits for that season.) As a result of that and a few other sitcom roles immediately after, I thought of him as a comedy guy and was thrown when he would pop up playing intense dramatic roles in the ‘90s on shows like “NYPD Blue,” “Homicide” and, for a long and memorable stretch, “Oz,” HBO’s first original dramatic series, in which Meloni...

Kevin Feige is undoubtedly the go-to guy for all things Marvel-lous. Having risen through the ranks to the lofty position of President Of Production, he has had a hand in overseeing the comic book company’s cinematic output since 2000’s X-Men. Now that its output is structured to create a more cohesive universe across film and TV, Feige is very much the keeper of Marvel’s secrets. So, when he spends some time – albeit brief – discussing the forthcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy movie, everyone listens very, very closely.
Intended as the tenth instalment in the Marvel cinematic universe, Guardians Of The Galaxy is based upon the comic book superhero team of the same name. It follows the exploits of Peter Quill, who finds himself needing to strike an uncomfortable truce with a strange group of misfits, after he steals an important artefact and makes himself the target of a villainous manhunt.

If you've been a reader of this site, you'll know that one composer who has caught our ear in a big way is Jóhann Jóhannsson. Over the past few years, his profile has risen with work on several films including So Yong Kim's "For Ellen" and Lou Ye's "Mystery," before landing last year in multiplexes across the country with his haunting, gorgeous work on Denis Villeneuve's "Prisoners." And with 2014 upon us, Jóhannsson is back with more music to capture our attention. The Icelandic composer has tuned up the forthcoming drama "McCanick" from director John C. Waller, editor Brett Bachman and cinematographer Martin Ahlgren. Featuring "Glee" star Cory Monteith in his last role along with David Morse, Ciarin Hinds and Mike Vogel, the film tells the story of a narcotics detective and a seemingly harmless ex-prisoner who clash over the course of one long, hot summer day. Sometimes the gift of giving truly is the greatest gift of all. That's the case for airline WestJet, that put together a feel-good Christmas-themed video which ended up earning them more than 27 million views on YouTube.
In the now-viral video, titled "Christmas Miracle," the folks at WestJet placed life-sized screens featuring Santa Claus in Toronto Pearson International Airport and John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport to ask those flying on the airline from what they want for Christmas. Responses ranged from socks and underwear to a train set to a big-screen TV. Little did the passengers know that they would actually be receiving their requests.
In the time between the flights taking off and landing, some 150 WestJet employees hustled to stores like Best Buy to purchase the gifts, wrapped them and then cleared them through airport security. They then prepared hot chocolate at baggage claim as the 250 passengers waited for their luggage to arrive.

Ahead of Saturday's "Man Of Steel" online Q&A, many are wondering if the session will be used to make a major announcement about the upcoming sequel "Batman vs. Superman" (rumors today indicate a piece of artwork will premiere).
Today though, sources for Latino Review have made their own announcement. They suggest that the character of Dick Grayson, the post-Robin Nightwing version of him, will make an appearance in the film.
Reportedly the studio is seeking a 5'10, caucassian actor with martial arts familiarity and resembling "a young John C. Hawkes type". They also suggest that in the film narrative, Nightwing and Ben Affleck's veteran Batman will not have spoken for years.
The introduction though would make sense if Warners is building to an eventual "Justice League". Speaking of the DC Comics hero team-up, TV's "Arrow" star Stephen Amell posted a "Justice League" comic image to his official Facebook account.

While they shared the screen in Tallegada Nights, it was Step Brothers that really hammered home what Will Ferrell and John C. Rielly can achieve as a double act. Now the pair are teaming up again for Devil's Night, a new Halloween set comedy which sees the two play estranged friends who must team up after 15 years apart to save their neighbourhood from destruction during Devil's Night, an unofficial holidy where mischief and vandalism is let run riot. No doubt much hilarity, and hopefully a rap song, ensues. Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions will produce the film, working from a script by Yes Man scribes Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogul. No director or release date has been announced yet. via The Wrap...

With the Marvel Studio's Comic-Con done and dusted, Marvel have released this pretty sweet image from James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy, featuring our first look at what main players Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Dave Bautista (Drax), and Zoe Saldana (Gamora) will look like on the big screen, as well confirming the looks of the two computer generated Guardians, Groot and Rocket Raccoon. While many people considered this a gamble on it's initial announcement, with the project being a lot more out there than Marvel Studio's previous movies, everything we've heard about the project so far, especially the massive cast (which includes Lee Pace, Benicio Del Toro, Michael Rooker, Glenn Close, and John C. Rielly) has got me excited about this. This concept drawing seals the deal, and I can't wait to see footage from this. Watch some of The Guardians of the Galaxy Comic Con Panel by clicking here...

When we first heard that John C. Reilly had been offered a role in Marvel’s upcoming space odyssey, Guardians of the Galaxy, the story was that he was probably going to be playing a character named Rhomann Dey, who is a member of an intergalactic police force called the Nova Corps in the comics, but who would apparently be a Shield member who acted as a liaison to the stars in this story. This was confusing and made no sense. Why take an alien character with an alien name and arbitrarily turn him into some other human character for no reason? Why not just name this character something else? Well, it turns out the reason everything was so confusing was that it was all a bunch of bullpucky. All except the most important part—that John C. Reilly actually was offered a role in Guardians of the Galaxy. Luckily for us, a...

According to new reports, actor John C. Reilley has been cast in Marvel Studios upcoming "Guardians Of The Galaxy" feature as 'Rhomann Dey', leader of Marvel Comics' 'Nova Corps of Xandar' and one of its few survivors.
The character was created by writer Marv Wolfman and illustrator John Buscema, debuting in Marvel Comics' "Nova" #1 (September 1976):
"...when the 'Warlord Zorr' attacked 'Xandar', he devastated it and killed many Xandarians including Dey's wife and child. Dey hunted Zorr and battled him. However, Zorr was too powerful for Dey and mortally wounded him.
"Dey flew to Earth ahead of Zorr and chose 'Richard Rider' as the new Nova transferring his power to him. Dey linked minds with Rider and explained to him the new powers he has received as well as the threat of Zorr on his planet.

James Gunn's comic book adaption Guardians of the Galaxy has quite a cast already, with Chris Pratt, Micheal Rooker, Zoe Saldana, Chris Batista, Lee Pace, and Glenn Close already confirmed, with John C. Rielly's involvement churning around in the rumour mill. Now another name has been added, with former Doctro Who star Karen Gillan, portraying fan favorite companion Amy Pond for three season of the long running sci-fi show, signing on as the so far unnamed villainess, joining Pace and possibly Rooker, if unconfirmed reports are to be believed, in bad guy duties in the fourth installment of Marvel Studio's Phase Two. With production slated to begin in the coming months, this should wind up the casting process, and hopefully be getting proper confirmation on the movie. Guardians of the Galaxy is released August 1st 2014 via The Hollywood Reporter...

Over the last month or so, it seems we've had more speculation than hard facts about Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. In fact, it felt strange writing the title of this article and not putting a question mark in it. Anyway, the latest cast member of James Gunn's tale of intergalactic fugitives on the run in a far away galaxy is Glenn Close. She has signed on to play the as yet unnamed head of the Nova Corps, a team of intergalactic peace keepers. It's been hinted that the Nova Corps would appear, with rumours that John C. Rielly would play a member Rhomann Dey, but this casting is confirmation. With the inclusion of the Nova Corps, I have a feeling Marvel Studios are planning to use Guardians of the Galaxy to springboard (or at least test the waters for) a solo movie for Nova, the Corps sole human member,...

1.) The cast of Anchorman: The Legend Continues is growing each and every day. Meagan Good and Dylan Baker have both joined the cast. These three join Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate, David Koechner, Kristen Wiig and James Marsden in the film, which is rumored to take Ron Burgundy from San Diego to the big leagues in New York City. There were reports John C. Reily was joining the cast, but a rep for the production tells Deadline, "We were looking for a stand-in for lighting purposes who looks like John C. Reilly. We always demand that every stand-in looks like John C. Reilly." 2.) Daniel Radcliffe is in final negotiations to star as Igor in a retelling of the classic tale Frankenstein for 20th Century Fox and director Paul McGuigan with a screenplay by Max Landis (Chronicle) based on Mary Shelley's 19th century novel. Filmmakers behind the award-winning documentary The Invisible War have establishmented The Artemis Invisible War Recovery Program, a pilot program to treat survivors of military sexual trauma (Mst). Director Kirby Dick, producer Amy Ziering and executive producers Regina Kulik Scully and Geralyn Dreyfous, appearing in Los Angeles for the DVD release of the film, announced that more than $500,000 has been raised to fund the initial program with hopes of expanding it into a permanent resource for Mst survivors.
The Invisible War, which won the Sundance Documentary Audience Award, details the epidemic rate of sexual assault among the ranks of the military. The Department of Defense estimates a staggering 19,300 service members were sexually assaulted in 2010 alone. A female soldier in combat is more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire.
“Over the past two years, hundreds of female and male soldiers have come forward to recount their harrowing stories often for the first time,” said filmmakers Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering. “We were astonished by the similarities in these stories that reveal an attitude in the military that is all to often indifferent to rape at best, and tolerant at worst. We hope that the legacy of this film and The Artemis Invisible War Recovery Program will help victims heal from the profound trauma they have suffered.”
“The Invisible War has inspired this breakthrough pilot recovery program to address the real needs of veterans to cope and heal from sexual trauma. It is poised to serve as a crucial template for recovery programs throughout the country and around the world,” said executive producer Regina Kulik Scully who is also the program sponsor and Founder and CEO of The Artemis Media Fund.
As chronicled in the film, survivors of Mst often find themselves without the reporting and treatment options available to civilians. In fact, some evidence suggests that survivors who have been treated in military medical settings experience a “second victimization” while under care, often reporting increased rates of depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Therapists from the Serenity Trauma Healing Center in Los Angeles, CA and The Bridge to Recovery in Santa Barbara are co-developing the treatment program, which is slated to launch in early 2013.
“As founders of Serenity Trauma Healing Center, we are so excited about this opportunity to bring state of the art treatments to survivors of Mst,” said Joanne Mednick and Karol Darsa. “We aim to provide care that can help them overcome their debilitating symptoms and once again lead productive and healthy lives. We are grateful to the filmmakers of The Invisible War for raising consciousness about this issue and to founding sponsor Regina Kulik Scully for providing the vision, insight and passion to initiate this necessary and life-changing program.”
“The Bridge to Recovery is pleased and excited to partner with The Artemis Invisible War Recovery Program and the Serenity Trauma Healing Center to develop a specialized treatment system for military victims of Mst,” says John C. Stenzel, CEO and Rawland Glass, Lcsw, Chief Clinical Officer, of The Bridge Santa Barbara and The Bridge Bowling Green, respectively.

Following the first set of images from a month or so ago, here's the first full trailer for Alex Cross, the detective thriller starring Tyler Perry and Matthew Fox, based on the bestselling novels by James Patterson. How's it looking? Kind of ridiculous, but actually not bad. We begin with John C. "Dr Cox" McGinley informing our man Perry that he has a gruesome crime scene to hand, and we're quickly introduced to Fox's mad-dog killer, an ex-military special forces guy "fascinated by pain", fond of a pair of pliers and handy with a sniper rifle and a rocket launcher. There's a bit of underground boxing, some running through what looks like a sewer tunnel, Swat teams, helicopters, explosions... It's directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) who has a handle on that kind of mayhem. As we said when we saw the first pictures, the stand-up-and-take-notice bit of all this is Fox,...
