“I’ve been thinking about what you said,” Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) tells Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in tonight’s The Walking Dead series finale, “and if I can ever forgive you.”
I can’t forgive you, even though I am so grateful you saved my son, even though I know that you’re trying,” she tells the man who brutally and gleefully battered her husband to death many seasons ago in the zombie apocalypse series based on Robert Kirkman’s comics. “I’m trying to, because I don’t want to hate you anymore …I don’t want my son to see anyone has that kind of hold on me.”

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of tonight’s The Walking Dead series finale and more.
“I wanna talk about the future,” says Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) to Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) right near the end of The Walking Dead series finale tonight.
It is a line in the Angela Kang-, Corey Reed- and Jim Barnes-penned “Rest in Peace” episode that launches the bloody and fiery conclusion of AMC’s long-running zombie apocalypse series based on Robert Kirkman’s comic from prose to verse in many ways as spinoffs galore loom.
Coming off a penultimate cliffhanger that saw Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming) shot by ruthless Commonwealth Governor Pamela Milton (Laila Robins), it is a series finale that saw the ragged Survivors finally defeat the Commonwealth forces and a marauding herd of walkers to form a new community of their own.
However, it was not without cost.

Warning: Don’t open, spoilers inside. Stop here if you haven’t yet watched “The Walking Dead” series finale, which aired Sunday night on AMC.
“The Walking Dead” ended its 11-season and 177-episode AMC run on Sunday night with a hopeful note, as the Commonwealth had entered a period of peace and the show’s stars prepared to go their own ways. But it also closed with a glimpse at what series favorites Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) — who haven’t been seen in a few years — have been up to.
That surprise scene, which sets up the upcoming “The Walking Dead” spinoff starring Lincoln and Gurira, was filmed under complete secrecy on the program’s Georgia studio lot this past summer, after the rest of the show had already wrapped.
“We did a secret shoot, and my whole thing was, can we please keep this one secret from the audience?...

The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 18
The possible collapse of a community in real time has always been the tease that The Walking Dead and its various spinoff shows lean on. The main show might be a zombie movie that was supposed to never end, per Robert Kirkman’s original vision for the comic book, but the various spinoffs, in particular Fear The Walking Dead and the best episode of Tales of the Walking Dead, have been more about watching things fall apart. Given what the world has gone through and continues to go through, there’s a certain dark appeal to watching a fictional reality fall apart, rather than actual reality.
That’s part of the escapism that The Walking Dead provides. From the comfort of our homes, we can watch other people struggle to overcome insurmountable odds, armchair quarterbacking every decision made...

The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 9
For all the good that can be achieved with scale in an action setting, there’s nothing like a down-and-dirty scrap for survival. The Walking Dead does big battle scenes well, especially given the limitations of a television budget and shooting schedule, but when the show narrows focus and attempts a more restrained combat setting, be it a one-on-one knife fight or one survivor versus a crowded stairwell of walkers, the technical prowess of the creative team and the show’s stunt team and second unit team really come through.
Throughout “No Other Way,” the action is taken to street level, whether it’s Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and a surviving Reaper fighting over a rare shelter from the fiery arrow storm of the hwacha or Rosita (Christian Serratos) and the Alexandrians forming a makeshift corpse barricade on the...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett Season 1 Episode 7, “In The Name of Honor.”] In The Book of Boba Fett’s final episode, Boba (Temuera Morrison) and his pals go to war against the Pyke Syndicate on the Mos Espa streets. There’s plenty of action, explosions, a huge death, and even an appearance from everyone’s favorite big-eyed, big-eared, green alien. Here’s how it happens. Disney+/Lucasfilm Boba and his friends decide to hole up in the remains of Garsa’s (Jennifer Beals) Sanctuary, because, as Drash (Sophie Thatcher) says, “The people need protection.” It’s there that they receive a visit from Cad Bane (Corey Reed), who drops a shocking truth on Boba: The Pykes, not the speeder gang, were responsible for the deaths of his Tusken family. He almost succeeds in getting Boba to duel him, but Fennec (Ming-Na Wen) advises caution, and Boba ...

The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 17
The Walking Dead is not a show that can be described as “free from issues.” Since the very first season, the series has made a habit of introducing a group, only for that group to self-destruct, disappear, or die, either on screen in the case of the prisoners from season three’s West Georgia Correctional Facility, or off-screen in the case of the eponymous Vatos from season one’s “Vatos.” A group shows up, and typically, they die in short order. Maggie’s group of hardened survivor pals is no different. A few will stick around, but for the most part, most of them are just waiting to go from their first appearance on screen.
Of course, as it usually it, it’s in service of a bigger, badder enemy. This one seems to have it out personally...

The end may be in sight but there’s still plenty of story to tell. That’s the overall tone of The Walking Dead season 10 “finale” episode, “A Certain Doom,” which closes another chapter in the show’s long run while also introducing the next. The episode, which sees Beta and the remaining Whisperers launch one last attack against Alexandria and the other communities, really feels like the conclusion of two years’ worth of storytelling, as those that remain after the “death” of Rick Grimes in season 9 band together at last to take down the show’s grisliest enemies yet.
The setup of the episode is quite exciting: Beta has brought what remains of his walker herd to bear on his enemies, who are holed up inside an abandoned hospital, a building big enough to house the combined populations of Alexandria, Hilltop, Oceanside, and the Kingdom, but that will prove...

How do you convince someone who has been brainwashed that they've been brainwashed? Alpha has complete authority over her subjects on The Walking Dead season 10. We’ve seen just what kind of pull she has on her people, and just how skilled she is at getting them to do the things she wants, even when they don't want to do those things. Gamma killed her own sister; Gamma's sister left her baby to die in front of Hilltop. Nobody thinking rationally or logically would want to do either of those things, and yet, Alpha asks, and they do. She's their savior, in more ways than one, and she's not hesitant to remind them that they owe their continued existence to her largess and leadership.

The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 9
Zombies on The Walking Dead are only a threat to our survivors when they're in large groups. Anything smaller than a herd tends to be easy pickings, more or less, if one of the main characters isn't alone or caught unaware due to shooting-related hearing loss. Various attempts have been made to make the zombies more of a menace, from the massive well zombie in season 2 to the zombie torso attached to another zombie seen in this episode, but they usually don't work as a real threat.
The Whisperers have changed that. From the first moment a zombie pulled out a blade and attacked Jesus, zombies are dangerous again, and throughout “Adaptation,” that secondary threat looms large in every scene involving a walker.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains details of The Walking Dead’s October 21 episode.
Three episodes into Season 9 of The Walking Dead and things are in a high-wire state of flux, and we’re not just talking about how Andrew Lincoln will be leaving the AMC series based on Robert Kirkman’s zombie apocalypse comics come November 4.
On Sunday’s third episode “Warning Signs,” we learned that Lincoln’s Rick Grimes wants to have a baby with Danai Gurira‘s Michonne, and that the fragile peace that the former sheriff’s deputy has built among former enemies is starting to fray, to put it mildly. On the other hand, Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon and Lauren Cohan’s Maggie Rhee have taken a decidedly more ruthless ruling hand than Lincoln’s bridge-building Grimes, and the body count is rising, with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan looking to be next.

The Walking Dead is a show with a lot of interesting characters who speak in interesting ways. Negan is probably the most obvious one; he spins long sentences and crams in strange, infantile profanity. Rick has lots of long speeches that allow writers to really dig into a specific topic. Jadis is... well, she's different, but not entirely complicated, you just cut out non-essential words and boil everything down to noun-verb or verb-adjective phrases. But the character that has to be the most fun to write for is Eugene Porter, and he's the...

The eighth season of The Walking Dead seems to have an obsession with surprises. It seems that every two episodes, some Savior is about to get away from whoever of the Ricktatorship is chasing him/her, and then another member of the Ricktatorship comes out of nowhere in some kind of vehicle to either give chase or just flat-out stop the escaping person via car crash. The Walking Dead has always been different from other zombie movies and TV shows because it’s fueled first and foremost by its characters and their own stories, relationships and rivalries.
Usually the human cast in something like this are just there to be picked off one by one by the flesh-eating monsters. Thanks to the stellar work from the writers and the actors on Twd, though, we’ve grown to care deeply for these people over the years – which makes it all the more emotional and shocking when they meet a grisly fate.
In this new clip that’s surfaced today, seen above, the writers and producers of the hit AMC show talk about what makes our favorite characters so special and why they’re a joy to write for.
“There’s something about The Walking Dead that makes it, I think, very different from certainly any of show I’ve worked on,...

Rick has never had a great grasp on the people of Alexandria. Despite Deanna's support, he's faced a lot of resistance from within the community, particularly where Spencer is concerned. The latter has been a vocal critic of Rick despite his mother's support for the gun-slinging lawman, and the actions of this week's episode won't give Spencer, or anyone else who doubts Rick's abilities, a reason to second-guess their scepticism of the Ricktatorship. Or rather, the puppet state Rick runs for Negan.

A good-sized portion of The Walking Dead's American audience just endured a punishing week, with a presidential election that was unusually stressful – and, for many, deeply depressing. So what does the show do? It runs a full 20 minutes longer than usual, to allow viewers to spend more time with Negan, a controlling bully who takes pleasure in breaking people's spirits. (Draw your own conclusions.) Sometimes television makes great comfort food, easing the disappointments and tragedies of the real world. This week's Twd was more like a horse pill. It was bitter medicine,...

Is The Walking Dead season 6 finally letting Rick Grimes lighten up? Uneven episode The Next World suggests so...
This review contains spoilers.
6.10 The Next World
In last week's review of Teen Wolf, I complained briefly about how the show has taken a turn away from its roots as something of a horror comedy and gone to something more akin to a straight action horror show. When that show began, it actually had a pretty strong, pretty consistent vein of humour that it minded to great effect. Sometimes, there's only so much bad and evil and violence that a person can take without a little laugh to lighten the mood and release some of the tension. Good horror movies do this, usually with a cat scare or a comic relief character.
Traditionally, The Walking Dead hasn't had this kind of relaxation. You might get a few chuckles during...

You know you're in for a good hour of television when the first thing you hear is the opening guitar riff to Boston's "More Than a Feeling," and that was certainly the case on tonight's installment of "The Walking Dead." The episode was filled with inspired music cues – including a great Old 97's tune that scored Daryl and Rick's scavenging road trip – but that first scene really set the tone for the episode, and almost read to me like the beginning of a romantic comedy (leading man gets ready for his day to the strains of classic rock, banters with his children, teases his live-in girlfriend friend about toothpaste). Taking that lighthearted introduction into account, the episode's amorous ending really shouldn't have come as much of a shock.

The Walking Dead, Season 6, Episode 5, “Now”
Written by Corey Reed
Directed by Avi Youabian
Airs Sundays at 9pm (Et) on AMC
After last week’s complex and meditative turn with “Here is Not Here,” we’re back to the chaos of the failed plot by Rick and co. to lead the massive herd of walkers away from Alexandria. While “Now” suffers from some flaws, it still ends up as entertaining and compelling filler. A lot of “Now” involves the Alexandrians playing a nice round of hindsight with one another. After spending a long time trying to perfect casseroles, reality pretty much came shambling at their door step, popping their bubble of comfort for better or worse.
Now that the raid has essentially failed and a good portion of Alexandria lies six feet under, the rest of the townies walk around “Now” displaying a keen sense of hindsight with one another.

This review contains spoilers.
6.5 Now
I am going to confess something that I find a little bit shameful. I am having a lot of trouble remembering the names of all the characters from Alexandria. Some of them I remember; Aaron springs to mind pretty well, and Deanna is hard to forget thanks to her name being turned into a meme. However, when it comes to the rank and file, I'm hard pressed to keep track of anyone else. I'm aware that Carl's little frenemy is Ron, but it takes some digging despite being the best name anyone could ever have. Most of the others are boiled down to simple descriptions: the doctor girl, the pantry lady, that balding guy, Alexandra Breckenridge...
I'm not sure if the issue...

Cracks are bound to appear in The Walking Dead's Alexandria, but will it be Rick's group, or the townsfolk that cause them?
This review contains spoilers.
5.13 Forget
There's something rotten in Denmark, and by Denmark I mean the Alexandria Safe Zone. I'm not sure what it is, but I am not the only one that feels that way. Throughout this episode, there are hints dropped that there's something strange going on. From the stamping of hands at the party to the fact that there are zombies with mysterious letters carved into their heads that may or may not have been sent as a warning, it's clear that there's something ominous about to go down, and it's only smart that Rick, Carol, and Daryl are wise in their pursuit of some unregulated firepower, just to be safe.
After all, even the safest of walled cities is only as safe as its craziest member,...

The Walking Dead, Season 5, Episode 6: “Consumed”
Directed by Seith Mann
Written by Matthew Negrete & Corey Reed
Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on AMC
“Consumed” follows Carol and Daryl in pursuit of the mysterious vehicle that belongs to Beth’s kidnappers. The dynamic duo make good progress into the city eventually arriving at a safe house while running into the occasional zombie along the way. The hour proves harmless enough for the pair of seasoned veterans, and while at times exciting, “Consumed” is a predictable, voyage into the heart of Atlanta. But despite a lack of suspense and horror, “Consumed” is a welcome return to two of the show’s most compelling characters; and an episode that gives two of our least talkative survivors a chance to express themselves and some much-needed breathing room to examine how much they’ve both changed in five seasons.

Director: Seith Mann. Writers: Matthew Negrete and Corey Reed. Cast: Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride and Tyler James Williams. In "Consumed," Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) scouted about Atlanta. They were searching for Beth (Emily Kinney), but found Noah (Tyler James Williams) instead. Noah, a part-time robber, is rescued as this duo adjusted to urban zed warfare. This season is building towards a mid-season break and a confrontation looms at the nearby hospital. And, with all of the sombre music and focus on Carol, it is likely that another one of the survivors might be making an exit from the show. This viewer is betting it will be Carol. From night shooting to the development of characters, "Consumed" offered enough tension and confrontations to generate excitement. This episode began with another series of scenes shot at night. Daryl and Carol chased down a cross-painted car, into the outskirts of Atlanta.
