Image
In the video for his latest single, “Courtside,” Karan Aujla cruises around Miami’s South Beach in a Rolls-Royce Cullinan wearing Maybach shades and a Richard Mille watch. Flowing in his native tongue over a breezy, bass-heavy beat, Aujla pulls up to Cartier and the Louis Vuitton store in the Design District, then rolls to the Hard Rock Stadium, where he dives into the celebrity who’s who that is the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.

“I saw DJ Khaled in there,” the Punjabi-born rapping, singing, and songwriting sensation tells me...

Rico Nasty Keeps Raging — and Growing
Image
Since her early days as a Maryland teenager uploading aggressive, trap-influenced music on Soundcloud, rapper Rico Nasty has carved out her own unique place as a colorful rager. Yet, when she spoke to Rolling Stone this past February to announce her third studio album, Lethal, the 27-year-old phenom revealed that she was branching out past the wild persona that hip-hop fans have come to know during her rise.

“I was walking past the mirror, and I had on my fuzzy leg warmers, my big platforms, and I looked like a 17-year-old raver.

Billy Idol Joins Forces with Avril Lavigne on New Song “77”: Stream
Image
Billy Idol has unveiled the latest single from his forthcoming album, Dream Into It, which is set for release this Friday (April 25th). The rock legend has teamed up with Avril Lavigne on the song “77.”

The tune is the second single from Idol’s new LP. following “Still Dancing,” which was released at the time of the album announcement in late February.

“77” falls more in the musical realm of Lavigne than Idol, with its infectious pop-punk sound. Lavigne gets the vocals started on the first verse, and is soon joined by Idol, as the pair duet on the chorus. Idol then takes lead on the second verse, with Lavigne joining in shortly thereafter.

Heavy Consequence recently caught up with Idol to discuss the new album, and he told us about his inspiration for “77,” saying, “ I was just sort of ruminating about how today in America,...

‘The Voice’ Season 27 Episode 11 recap: Kelsea steals an artist from Adam because she ‘wouldn’t do good in jail’
Image
The Voice Season 27 continued the third stage of the competition on Monday with the third installment of "Knockouts" performances. In this round, each coach will set four head-to-head matchups from their team and will be forced to choose only four winners. While they won't be able to save any of the losers from their own team, each coach will have a Steal to bring a loser from another team with them to "The Playoffs." By the end of the round's 16 performances, 20 artists will remain in the competition.

One hallmark of this round is that the artists get to choose their own song to perform rather than have it selected by their coach, as was done in the "Battles." Another is that without guest mentors assisting during rehearsals, it's the first time that John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Bublé and Adam Levine get to work one-on-one with the artists on their team.

Billy Idol On The Rock Hall and “Telling The Story Of My Life” On Upcoming Album ‘Dream Into It’
Image
Shaking off a rock ‘n’ roll bad boy reputation isn’t easy—just ask Billy Idol. While he’s been clean and sober since 2010, his image as a rebellious icon lingers.

The “Dancing With Myself” singer’s had to wait nearly two decades for his shot at getting recognized at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since he first became eligible in 2007, but at last, he finally earned his first nomination this year.

The nomination back in February was the first development in a busy 2025 for Idol so far. He released “Still Dancing” — his first single in three years — last month. At the end of April, he’s dropping Dream Into It, his first album in 11 years, which with any luck, will be punctuated with a Rock Hall acceptance as well.

“Well, that would be rather fantastic,” Idol tells The Hollywood Reporter in an interview via Zoom from his Los Angeles home,...

Momma Break Down New Album Welcome to My Blue Sky Track By Track: Exclusive
Image
Our recurring feature series Track by Track sees artists guiding readers through each song on their new release. Today, indie rockers Momma take a deep dive into their great new album, Welcome to My Blue Sky.

If Momma’s last album, 2022’s Household Name, was an ambitious manifestation of success as a touring rock band, Welcome to My Blue Sky captures the nervy rush of actually getting what they wanted. The Brooklyn band’s new album was written in green rooms and on hotel beds in rare off-days of a packed show schedule that began in 2022 and lasted over a year.

By the time bandleaders Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten made it back home and started work on Welcome to My Blue Sky with drummer Preston Fulks and bassist/producer Aron Kobayashi Ritch, they felt like they were different people than when they left. They had navigated major changes in their romantic lives,...

The Voice Sets in Motion a Surprising Steal as the Battles Intensify
Image
You would think, wouldn’t you, that a good country singer who gives a good performance on The Voice stands a good chance of being stolen by coach Kelsea Ballerini. But Monday’s third night of the Battles threw that theory out the window. Read on, and we’ll discuss the twist and everything else that went down.

Team Kelsea: Iris Herrera (Grade: B) defeated Simone Marijic (Grade: B+) on “Ceilings” — Simone stolen by Michael | On Lizzy McAlpine’s gorgeous ballad, Iris and Simone both fared pretty well, so it really came down to a question of whose approach to the song one preferred.

Billy Idol Announces New Album Dream Into It, Unveils Single “Still Dancing”: Stream
Image
Billy Idol has announced a new album, Dream Into It, arriving April 25th. The video for lead single “Still Dancing” can be streamed below.

The autobiographical song calls back to one of Idol’s biggest hits (“Dancing with Myself”) and charts his musical journey, from humble punk roots to rockstar status. That’s reflected in the music, which channels the sound of Idol’s ’80s heyday with its throwback production, surging guitars, and huge chorus hook.

“At the start of the song I’m recalling the early times in London, when I was living in squats or at friends’ apartments, all my belongings in a plastic bag,” said Idol in a press release. “Everybody at home or work told you what you were doing was never going to happen. But punk rock gave me an opening. I was surrounded by people who loved the music...

Besides Kelly’s rendition of “Complicated,” the five-track collection features covers of songs like Morgan Wallen’s “Sand in My Boots.” “We went to expand the concept a bit, and include songs that were (in my opinion) emo-adjacent — as well as making it clear that ‘dirt emo’ doesn’t have to be a specific genre, per se, but more a mood or style in which I perform/reinterpret a song,” the artist said in a statement. “It’s like angsty tumbleweeds or weeping holding a banjo, etcetera.”

Kelly’s cover of Lavigne’s 2002 hit maintains the stickiness of the original, which he described as “a banger...

Aaron Holliday, Jermaine Fowler, Michael Abbott Jr. & Sean Gunn To Star In Indie Horror Pic ‘Appofeniacs’ From Writer-Director Chris Marrs Piliero
Image
Exclusive: Aaron Holliday (Cocaine Bear), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), Michael Abbott Jr. (Fallout) and Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) have wrapped on Appofeniacs, an indie horror film from writer-director Chris Marrs Piliero.

Appofeniacs is a riff on the term “apophenia” which is the tendency to find connections or patterns in things that are unrelated or random — common examples being confirmation bias and paranoia. This marks the feature debut for Piliero, who is known for his music video work with Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Kesha, and The Black Keys (for which he won an MTV VMA).

Piliero independently financed and produced the film, which also stars Will Brandt, Paige Searcy, Simran Jehani, Harley Bronwyn, and Sean Wing. Gunn exec produced the pic, with Salvatore Schiavone and Jonathan Voluck handling casting.

Previously seen in Universal’s horror comedy Cocaine Bear, Holliday has also been seen on HBO’s Euphoria and Sharp Objects.

Avril Lavigne Will Be Rockin’ Up Warped Tour This Summer
Image
Avril Lavigne is hitting the Vans Warped Tour for the first time ever. The singer will make her festival debut at the Washington D.C. stop in June.

“This summer I’ll be on the second round of my Greatest Hits Tour, so it worked out perfectly to hit up the Warped Tour in Washington D.C.,” Lavigne said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “So many of the bands I grew up listening to got their start playing this legendary tour and many of my friends are nostalgic for those parking lot summers,...

How Doja Cat, the Jonas Brothers and the Grammy Awards Buoyed Businesses Stricken by L.A. Fires
Image
In Los Angeles at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards, pop music superstars Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga and rap icon Kendrick Lamar graced the stage at the Crypto.com Arena to profess their love for the city, its unique neighborhoods and its resilient people as residents begin to assess the devastation from the multiple deadly fires that tore through the city over three weeks in January.

While these sentiments from Sunday night’s “I Love L.A.”-themed Grammys were certainly sincere from Eilish and the like, they’d be expected at any major awards event broadcast after an unprecedented national emergency devastating the town where much of the industry operates. But this year, for Grammy top brass Ben Winston, who executive produced Sunday’s show along with Raj Kapoor and Jesse Collins, sentiment and platitudes weren’t enough and he and his team decided that the show’s scheduled date, just...

What the Oscars Can Learn from How the Grammys Handled the LA Fires
Image
Give it up for the team behind the 2025 Grammys. Amazing winners — finally, Beyoncé takes home Album of the Year! — and the CBS team admirably focused the telecast on the recovery efforts for the Los Angeles fires and movingly showed how crucial the area is to the music industry, right from the jump.

“This city has just been through one of the largest natural disasters in American history,” host Trevor Noah said in his opening remarks during the February 2 ceremony in L.A. “Los Angeles is where Billie Eilish and Finneas turned a small bedroom in Highland Park into a Grammy-winning studio. The clubs of LA inspired Chappell Roan to create the anthem that is ‘Pink Pony Club.’ … To kick off the show, let me tell you about a band that has L.A. in their DNA.”

Noah went on to tell the audience at home about Dawes, an L.A.

Hollywood Conspiracy Theories From Its Golden Age
Image
Conspiracy theories are rampant in modern Hollywood, with internet weirdos claiming that Avril Lavigne died and was replaced with a lookalike, Beyonce runs the Illuminati, Logan Paul is a talented performer, etc. But viewers back in the day didn’t need the internet to be weird. Conspiracy theories were just as prevalent in Old Hollywood, there just weren't any subreddits to share them on.

5 James Dean Faked His Death

Rumors of faked death have plagued everyone from Elvis to Tupac, but they go back at least as far as James Dean, whose fans immediately refused to believe he really perished in a 1955 car crash. The car, which was put on display by its new owner, wasn’t damaged enough to have withstood a deadly crash, they insisted, so he must have been either disfigured to the point of being hidden by the studio or used the accident as an excuse...

Kim Kardashian Unveils Awful “Santa Baby” Cover with Disturbing Video: Watch
Image
Kim Kardashian has rung in the holidays with a little help from brother-in-law Travis Barker. Just a few days before Christmas, the Skims founder has shared an awful, lo-fi cover of the classic “Santa Baby” with an accompanying video more fitting for Halloween. Watch the clip below.

With her voice barely above a whisper, Kardashian purrs her way through the “Santa Baby” cover, which was produced by Barker. The low-effort rendition would be entirely unremarkable if not for the bizarre and disturbing music video.

Directed by Charlie Denis and Nadia Lee Cohen, the latter of whom has worked with Tyler, the Creator and A$AP Rocky, the clip features Kardashian crawling her way through a horrific holiday gathering, featuring menacing Santa’s helpers, a terrifying reindeer costume, and a cameo from Macaulay Culkin of Home Alone fame. Seems like Kardashian misses her days on American Horror Story.

This isn’t Kardashian’s first musical effort.

Avril Lavigne: 2024 Net Worth, Age, Height & Everything You Need To Know About The Musician
Image
Avril Lavigne was one of the biggest popstars of the 2000s, and her continued success in the industry, film and TV roles, and brand deals have all combined to give the Canadian punk rocker an eye-popping net worth. Pop and punk don't always go hand-in-hand with punk being counter-culture, and pop being mainstream, but when the combination works, some great bangers get produced. Take Avril Lavigne, the Canadian jean-wearing, hair-dyeing, boyfriend-cussing musician who owned the airwaves in the early 2000s with songs like "Complicated", "Girlfriend", and "What The Hell".

Over the course of her career, Lavigne has been nominated for 8 Grammys, set the Guinness World Record for the youngest female solo artist to top the UK chart, has had multiple Billboard top 100 hits, and is internationally famous on a level that may surprise casual fans who think the singer peaked with "Sk8er Boi" (via Sennheiser). She's been married and divorced twice,...

What Happened To Jayna Elise After American Idol Season 22?
Image
American Idol seasons 21 and 22 contestant Jayna Elise made it to the Top 12 of season 22, and she's been very busy with her music career ever since. Jayna first appeared on American Idol season 21, during which she was not only known for her incredible vocals, but her immense kindness. When Adin Boyer, who has autism, didn't have a group, she and her duet partner, Summer Joy, welcomed him with open arms. Jayna also became Fire's impromptu duet partner when Kaya Stewart left her without a partner when she abruptly withdrew from the competition due to illness.

Although she didn't make it past the Final Judgment of Hollywood Week in American Idol season 21, Jayna returned for season 22, during which she made it to the Top 12.
