So, here’s the good news. Martha Plimpton has packed up her home in New York to live and work in London. Pooches to follow.
Her first gig? Playing Jacque in Shakespeare’s As You Like It on the stage of @sohoplace, the West End’s first purpose-built theatre in half a century. That Plimpton should deliver, with aplomb, the ‘All the world’s a stage’ monologue in Josie Rourke’s lively festive production, seems wholly appropriate because the same viewpoint applies elsewhere in town.

To watch Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) make the Harold Pinter Theatre’s stage her world in Australian writer Suzie Miller’s legal twister Prima Facie confirms that she’s one of her generation’s best thespians. It was also her debut professional theatre performance.

Exclusive: Sam Mendes, the Oscar and Tony award-winning director, has chosen three London theater stars — Michael Balogun (National Theatre Live: Death of England-Delroy), Hadley Fraser (Donmar Theatre’s Coriolanus), and Nigel Lindsay (Chichester Festival Theatre’s Woman In Mind) — to bring his much-garlanded production of The Lehman Trilogy back into the West End. That’s following triumphant runs at the UK’s National Theatre, the Park Avenue Armory and Broadway, and a phenomenal 16-week, sold-out run at London’s Piccadilly Theatre in 2019.
The actors will portray the Bavarian-born Lehman brothers, Emanuel, Mayer, and Henry, who settled in Alabama as cotton merchants, a springboard to what was to become what Balogun termed “a giant machine” on Wall Street. Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley, and Ben Miles originally performed the multiple roles of the Lehman brothers and their descendants — male and female, old and young — in London and New York.

The Tony Award-winning revival of Company will play its final Broadway performance at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on Sunday, July 31, producers said in a surprise announcement today.
Producer Chris Harper said in a statement tonight, “It remains the honor of a lifetime to bring Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s masterpiece to Broadway in Marianne Elliott’s Tony Award-winning reimagined production. It is a testament to the dedication of everyone who works on the production that we have withstood all the challenges that Broadway has faced over the last two years to share this show with our amazing audiences.
“We have six more weeks of performances to celebrate our astonishing cast, orchestra, and crew at the Jacobs Theatre and we are delighted to be planning a touring production to bring Company to audiences across North America soon.”
The North American tour of Company is planned for the 2023-2024 season.

I have always been a fervent believer that the Tony Awards will have the best acceptance speeches you’ll see every year and the 75th installment of the awards gala did not disappoint. After a weird two years since we last had what would be considered a “normal” ceremony, the Tonys were back in full force from Radio City Music Hall, on CBS and hosted by newly minted Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose. This year’s speeches reflected diversity, representation, love and family and the seven that we’ve selected below for the best of the night covered those bases in ways that were powerful, touching and funny. Do you agree with our picks? Let us know in the comments below.

The Lehman Trilogy, Company, A Strange Loop, Mj and Sweet Charity were among the big winners at tonight’s Tony Awards. And Sweet Charity wasn’t even staged this season.
Credit Ariana DeBose for the blink-and-miss-it shout-out to the Bob Fosse classic — and for much else that went right with tonight’s fast-moving ceremony broadcast on CBS. When DeBose, who has mentioned Sweet Charity as being on her Broadway wish list, pulled American Buffalo nominee Sam Rockwell from the audience to do a quick bit of “Rich Man’s Frug” from the great 1966 musical, she made a case both for a revival and for her stake as one of the Tonys’ great hosts.

A Strange Loop was named Best Musical of the 2021-22 Broadway season, and in two of the bigger surprises of the night, Joaquina Kalukango of Paradise Square and newcomer Myles Frost of Mj took best acting honors.
In the first big surprise of the night, Kalukango won the Best Actress in a Musical Tony Award for her performance in Paradise Square, edging out frontrunner Caroline, Or Change star Sharon D Clarke. Frost, who portrays the adult Michael Jackson in Mj, was less of a surprise, though A Strange Loop‘s Jaquel Spivey was generally favored to take the prize.

All 13 eligible musicals and musical revivals earned at least one nomination. The Pulitzer Prize-winning musical “A Strange Loop” leads with 11 nominations, including Best Musical and for three of its cast members. Two other new musicals — “Mj The Musical” and “Paradise Square” — are right behind with 10 bids apiece. Both took slots in the top category of Best Musical and performed exceedingly well in the design categories. Of the four eligible musical revivals, the late Stephen Sondheim‘s “Company” leads with nine nominations.
On the play side, “The Lehman Trilogy” leads the exceptional pack with eight nominations. The revival of “for colored girls” follows right behind with seven bids. The nominators certainly spread the wealth in the play categories,...

Jessica Pare: ‘Mad Men’ Hair — Super Sleek & Sexy
“Jessica and I love to collaborate to make each hairstyle we do different from the last. Feeling a style more sleek and worn down, it helped balance the very feminine feel of the dress and make it look modern and sexy, reminiscent to the 80′s music video “Addicted to Love” by Robert Palmer,” Marcus tells HollywoodLife.com.
