When it comes to Danny Ramirez, football’s loss was cinema’s gain. All his life, Ramirez had had one goal. “As a little kid, I was like, ‘There’s only one thing I’m going to be when I grow up, and it’s a pro athlete,” he tells Empire. A lifelong love for soccer led him to play the sport at college in Atlanta, until one day, on crutches and unable to play due to a recent injury, his life changed. “A Pa from a film came in to ask if [any of us wanted to be] extras,” says Ramirez. The film was The Reluctant Fundamentalist, and Ramirez got to watch its star, Riz Ahmed, try to pull off some slick moves on the pitch. Before that point, Ramirez had never even considered that as a career. “The next day is when...

Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Fox News, Republican lawmakers, and countless prominent right-wing commentators across social media are pushing a ridiculous lie about the Biden administration funding the media.
It started on Tuesday when staff at Politico reportedly didn’t receive their paychecks on time because of technical glitch. The right began speculating that the delay was related to Musk taking a blowtorch to the U.S. Agency for International Development (Usaid), with many pointing out that the government had ferried $8.2 million to Politico over the past year.

Present at the dinner were Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and their mother, Kris Jenner. Fans thought it was a random gathering. But when you look at this reality TV family's obsession with looking young and their influence on body trends, it's really not that far from Bryan's multimillion-dollar project. Here's what we've discovered about their intriguing "Don't Die" dinner.

Health and fitness influencer Andrew Huberman made his debut on Hollywood Reporter‘s list of the 40 Most Powerful People In Podcasting this week.
The bushy-bearded Stanford neuroscientist is best known for deeper-than-deep dives into a variety of medical topics, with a popularity that’s remarkable given the scientific denseness of some of his content. Huberman’s ability to present complex ideas in a calm and comprehensible way, along tackling useful topics (improving your sleep, memory, energy levels, etc), has helped grow his podcast into a powerhouse in just three years. Huberman Lab consistently tops the Health and Fitness podcast charts and his episode “What Alcohol Does to Your Body, Brain & Health” — which concluded that no amount of alcohol is truly good for you (sorry!) — ranked as Apple’s most-shared podcast episode for all of 2023.
In March, however, Huberman came under fire for a NY Mag article that criticized his treatment of six past girlfriends,...

Andrew Huberman is such a successful podcaster and wellness guru that his most devoted male followers are known by a teasing nickname: “Huberman Husbands.” But when recording his show Huberman Lab, Huberman has plenty that an influential podcasting superstar like, say, Joe Rogan, doesn’t: a PhD in neuroscience and a position at Stanford University School of Medicine as an associate professor of neurobiology.
It is these credentials that lend Huberman a voice of authority, even as he has strayed far from his fields of specialty (ophthalmology and visual systems...

I’ve always been an avid podcast listener, particularly for the useful advice and recommendations that many of my favorite shows offer on topics like health, wellness and personal development. A few years ago, however, I ran into one of the format’s major pain points: its abysmal search functionality.
After listening to an episode of one of my favorite podcasts, Huberman Lab, I decided to follow host Andrew Huberman’s recommendation on using magnesium to help with sleep. When the magnesium arrived, I realized I couldn’t recall his guidance on dosing. Anyone who has ever listened to an episode of Huberman Lab knows that the shows are absolutely packed with useful information, but they are long – sometimes up to 3.5 hours! I spent hours trying to find the specific part of the show that referenced how much magnesium to take.

The Joe Rogan Experience was the top podcast of the year globally in 2023, marking its fourth consecutive year in that position, according to Spotify Wrapped data released Wednesday.
Wrapped, which analyzes listening data in 2023 about the most-streamed artists and podcasts on the platform, also saw Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy (which, like Joe Rogan’s, is exclusive to Spotify) retain its second place spot on the global list, while Dr. Andrew Huberman’s science podcast, Huberman Lab, jumped to third. Emma Chamberlain’s podcast, Anything Goes, which became exclusive to Spotify in 2023 and placed third last year, came in fourth. On Purpose with Jay Shetty, which recently inked an ad sales deal with iHeartMedia, rounded out the global list in fifth place.
The U.S. podcast list also saw Ashley Flowers’ true crime series Crime Junkie, This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von and The New York Times’ podcast The...

“What’s the one thing that your optometrist doesn’t want you to know about?” asks a “human optimization specialist” who goes by the name Samantha Lotus in a recent video on her Instagram account. “The fact that you do not need glasses,” she answers, removing a pair from her own face.
Lotus goes on to explain that it’s “a lie” when eye doctors tell patients they require corrective lenses because, in fact, poor vision is caused by “mental, emotional, physical, and even spiritual” factors which can be “healed.

A conference in Denver will be hosted to speak about psychedelics after Colorado joined Oregon in making psychedelic mushrooms legal.
It has been estimated that around 10,000 people will attend the conference.
The conference will be led by a psychedelic advocacy group that has put together a panel of speakers. The panel is made up of people you wouldn’t typically expect to speak at this kind of event.
Aaron Rodgers, Jaden Smith and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry are some of the guest speakers.
Rodgers is an NFL quarterback who is set to play with the New York Jets, which he recently just joined, after playing for the Green Bay Packers for years. He has been open about using psychedelics, specifically ayahuasca. Ayahuasca is psychedelic that contains Dmt and originates from South America. It is a type of brew made from different plants.
