When asked what sets her apart from other actresses: "I don't come from a film background. I haven't learned anything about films or film-making. But I have a thirst to know everything about my profession. I want to learn about cinematography, about editing, about music recordings, about post-production. So when people in the know talk, I willingly listen. Also, I'm not scared of working 20 hours a day."

I adore watching movies; movie marathons are my favorite pastime. I can watch up to five movies back to back. I also love music and like reading whenever I get the time.

When I was in high school in America, I didn't see anyone who looked like me hardly ever. I just thought that was normal because you don't know any better. So I used to idolize so many other people, like Sarah Michelle Gellar on Buffy contre les vampires (1997). But when I went back to India at age 17 and started traveling for work, that was when I slowly realized that we don't all look like one person.

Rani [Mukerji] is a fantastic person. We got on famously during the world tour, where we performed together. She is also not a party animal and very much a family person like me. Rani is a wonderful actor and I admire her even more after watching her performance in Black.

I learned to carry myself with confidence that's how you make the best impression on people.

I used to be offended by things that were said to me or how I was seen. Now, I educate. If I get pissed off, I'll educate in a sassy way.

[on why she wouldn't do nude scenes] Yeah, nudity. For sure I wouldn't do. Like, never. Also, I play bold parts but I don't like a lot of skin show. I don't know how to explain it. Like I was always in pantsuits but the intensity in the part was sexual. I don't have to dress it (provocatively). I do it for magazine covers because it's glamorous and pretty. One of the big reasons I did the show with ABC was because they're Disney. So there's only that much for the American standards that we can do on the show, which is pretty much as much as in Hindi films. There's a difference between wearing a bikini and a bra and I understand that. Those lines are important to me.
