Netflix continues to lead the way with their documentaries reevaluating the cultural impact and personal lives of controversial blondes. Their latest is director Ursula Macfarlane’s “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me,” which seeks to tell the real story behind the voluptuous blonde bombshell who died of an accidental drug overdose in 2007.
The documentary reveals that Smith was no angel, whose excesses ended up putting her on a path of destruction. In comparison to their previous documentaries, it’s easily one of the more negative and pessimistic explorations of femininity and fame. But for those looking for something new about Smith’s life it has its share of shocking new revelations. Below are five new discoveries revealed in “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me.”

Perhaps it's fitting how much Dannielynn Birkhead loves rollercoasters when you consider the tedious climbs and sharp descents that marked her first year of life. There was the untimely passing of half-brother Daniel Smith, who overdosed while visiting mom Anna Nicole Smith and her newborn daughter in a Bahamian hospital, and the eerily similar death of the larger-than-life former Playboy model just months later. And, of course, the custody circus that ensued with freelance photographer Larry Birkhead, Smith's attorney Howard K. Stern and even Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt staking their claim for the 5-month-old. The...

Prepare to feel old Af because Dannielynn Birkhead is practically an adult now. Anna Nicole Smith's daughter — whose father is Larry Birkhead — turns 12 years old today and honestly, where the heck did the time go?! Her mother, a former Playboy Playmate and actress, died after an accidental drug overdose in 2007, months after Dannielynn's birth. Larry battled Anna Nicole's former lover and lawyer, Howard K. Stern, over custody of Dannielynn but was eventually deemed the father after a DNA test. "I remember coming out of this door right here and they said, 'You can take Dannielynn home to Kentucky or wherever you're gonna move,'" he recalled in an interview with Us Weekly last year. "And I came out, I was so happy." Although we don't often see much of the father-daughter duo, we can tell these two are attached at the hip! Dani — who was named after her late half-brother,...

Larry Birkhead is sharing some of Anna Nicole Smith's most intimate secrets.
In an exclusive sit-down interview at his home in Kentucky with Et's Kevin Frazier, the 44-year-old shares memories from his relationship with the late model and actress, what it's like raising their 11-year-old daughter, Dannielynn, on his own and why he thinks people are still so fascinated with his former partner.
Frazier kicks off the interview by explaining to Birkhead that he first met him in Los Angeles the night of Smith's infamous slurred speech onstage at the 2004 American Music Awards.
"As bad as that seemed and people were making fun of her, behind the scenes, her phone was ringing off the hook," Birkhead recalls. "People were dropping off scripts, people were wanting interviews and I mean, unfortunately, that's the way it goes, people were talking about her."

5 Things to Know: The Case of Slain New York Jogger Karina Vetrano After Her Alleged Killer’s Arrest

For months, it seemed as though Karina Vetrano’s killing might never be solved.
Detectives investigating her homicide last August chased down hundreds of leads but got nowhere fast. That all changed Saturday when police arrested 20-year-old Chanel Lewis, a Brooklyn man, on murder charges.
The day she was killed, about two hours after she went out for a jog, the 30-year-old was found beaten, sexually assaulted and strangled to death in a park near her neighborhood of Howard Beach, Queens.
Since Lewis was charged with the killing, his family members have insisted he’s not capable of such malice.

Larry Birkhead was working as a reporter and photographer in 2004 when he began dating model and reality show star Anna Nicole Smith. Two years later, Smith shared the news that she was pregnant. On a recent episode of "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" Birkhead says the immediate joy over the pregnancy was short-lived, ultimately leading to arguments. "She was a diet pill spokesperson, so the fact that she was pregnant was supposed to be a big secret because there's not that many markets for a pregnant diet pill spokesperson," he says. "So that created some tension."
In July of 2006, Smith fled to the Bahamas and Birkhead says they rarely communicated. Two months later, she gave birth to a baby girl, Dannielynn, at a hospital in Nassau.

On September 7, 2006, Anna Nicole Smith gave birth to a daughter she named Dannielynn. Though Smith named her former lawyer Howard K. Stern as Dannielynn's father on the birth certificate, Smith's ex Larry Birkhead firmly believed he was actually the child's biological dad.
Following a lawsuit that Birkhead filed a month after Dannielynn's birth (and four months before Smith's death), an April 2007 paternity test revealed that Birkhead was indeed Dannielynn's father. Elated, Birkhead made a statement on the steps outside of the courthouse the day the news broke.

Anna Nicole Smith unapologetically coveted the camera, and so the TV movie's director, Mary Harron (American Psycho), had plenty of footage to re-create, from Smith's early modeling shoots to her drugged-out E! reality show to truly grotesque home-video footage taken by her parasitic lawyer, Howard K. A TV movie about the strange, short and ultimately tragic life of Anna Nicole Smith doesn't exactly inspire great expectations. But Lifetime's "Anna Nicole" disappoints both as a campy guilty pleasure and a movie with a surprisingly solid pedigree.
Lifetime didn't get just anyone to bring Smith's story to the screen. They landed Mary Harron, director of "American Psycho" and quirky, interesting biopics "I Shot Andy Warhol" and "The Notorious Bettie Page." Unfortunately, the odd coupling of filmmaker and network doesn't result in anything particularly memorable.
Harron gets decent performances from a strong cast -- led by Agnes Bruckner's game work in the difficult, nebulous central role -- provides a low-key, dreamy visual style, and ensures that the drama never gets too exploitative or laughable, but she's ultimately defeated by both TV movie conventions and the subject herself.

Since the days of American Psycho — a brilliant adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' novel starring Christian Bale in one of his best roles — director Mary Harron has been steadily working. She filmed a biopic about pinup queen Bettie Page, directed several TV episodes, and released the The Moth Diaries in 2011. Now she's returning with a biopic for Lifetime about Texas Playmate Anna Nicole Smith. The former Guess model died in 2007 from a prescription-drug overdose and left behind a string of messy relationships, including one with longtime attorney Howard K. Stern (who thought he was the father of her child Dannielynn for some time). Smith's story is rife with tragedy and broken dreams, which often found her on the front pages of the...

No one's ever accused Lifetime movies of being subtle ("Liz & Dick," anyone?), but the upcoming "Anna Nicole Story" looks as though it might take the crown when it comes to unsubtle insanity -- if the first sneak peek is any indication. Let's take a look at the five wildest moments in the brief glimpse of the film.
5. Adam Goldberg's uncannily similar appearance to Howard K. Stern
The minute-long teaser is scant on glimpses of the supporting cast (which includes Martin Landau, Virginia Madsen and Cary Elwes), but the quick shot of Adam Goldberg ("The Unusuals") as Smith's lawyer/husband/enabler Howard K. Stern is chilling. Don't blink, or you'll miss it.
4. The dour cover of "Fame"
As if the audience didn't recognize already that the quest for, and maintaining of, fame played a major role in Smith's tragic demise, the trailer is set to a sad, downbeat cover of Irene Cara's "Fame.

"American Psycho" director may have seemed like an odd fit for a Lifetime Movie when the network's first announced it'd be working with her in October, but Mary Harron did chronicle the life of a famous pin-up in "The Notorious Bettie Page" -- Anna Nicole Smith may not be quite as iconic, but she's also not completely foreign territory for the filmmaker. Now Lifetime has set a date for "Anna Nicole," which Harron directed and which stars Agnes Bruckner ("Blue Car") as the model and actress. The film will premiere on Saturday, June 29, at 8:00pm, and co-stars Martin Landau as Smith's 89-year-old oil tycoon husband J. Howard Marshall, Virginia Madsen as Smith's mother Virgie Arthur, Adam Goldberg as Smith's attorney and lover Howard K. Stern, and Cary Elwes as E. Pierce Marshall, who fought Smith's claim to half of his father and her husband's estate after he passed away.

"Anna Nicole," Lifetime's TV movie about the weird and tragic life of model and sometimes actress Anna Nicole Smith, is set for a June 29 premiere.
Starring Agnes Bruckner ("Private Practice") as Playboy playmate and tabloid fixture Smith, the film also stars Oscar winner Martin Landau as Smith's 89-year-old oil tycoon husband, Oscar nominee Virginia Madsen as Smith's mother, Adam Goldberg as lawyer Howard K. Stern and Cary Elwes as Smith's unimpressed son-in-law.
But the most intriguing name involved is director Mary Harron, who was behind contemporary cult classic "American Psycho" and unusual bio-pics "I Shot Andy Warhol" and "The Notorious Bettie Page." Maybe "Anna Nicole" won't turn out to be a laughable "Liz & Dick" style camp-fest after all.
Lifetime had already set the premiere of quickie movie "Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret" for one week earlier, on Saturday, June 22.

Los Angeles -- Prosecutors refusing to accept an appellate court's ruling in the Anna Nicole Smith case asked the court on Friday to change its decision and allow her former boyfriend and manager to be retried.
California's 2nd District Court of Appeal ruled last month that Howard K. Stern could not be retried without violating the Fifth Amendment protection against double jeopardy. Attorneys in the office of District Attorney Steve Cooley filed a 19-page motion for rehearing that contends the court misinterpreted the law.
The court said a trial judge erred in dismissing conspiracy convictions against Stern and Smith's psychiatrist, Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, in a case that partially revolved around obtaining prescription drugs for the celebrity model under false names. The defendants were not charged with causing her death.
Superior Court Judge Robert Perry found it was not unusual in the celebrity world Smith inhabited for fake names to be used to protect privacy.

The acquittal of two people in the Anna Nicole Smith case has been overturned. The late model's former companion and attorney Howard K Stern and her psychiatrist Dr Khristine Eroshevich were found guilty of conspiring to give Smith excessive amounts of prescription medication at a jury trial two years ago. Eroshevich was also convicted of a count of felony prescription drug fraud. However, the conspiracy convictions against the pair were quashed by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge in January 2011 on grounds of a lack of evidence. Eroshevich's fraud charge was also reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor at the same hearing.
