Exclusive: SpectreVision, the genre-focused production company led by Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah, and Lawrence Inglee, on Monday announced the launch of SpectreVision Artists, a management arm headed by Antonio D’Intino and Christina Campagnola.

In British writer-director Bryn Chaney’s feature debut, he uses Celtic folklore and the intimacy of sound to unpack a darkness that some might struggle to put in words.

Set in 1973, Rabbit Trap stars Dev Patel and Rosy McEwen as Darcy and Daphne, an influential musical couple from London who retreats to an isolated cabin in the Welsh countryside to finish their next album. But when Darcy records a sound not meant for human ears, he accidentally conjures ancient mystical beings from the forest.

Best viewed in Dolby, the film utilizes hypnotic sounds in every scene, largely through the field recordings made by Darcy in the surrounding woods. In addition to sounds of dripping water, clanging metal and crunching grass, Darcy demonstrates how the medium is sacred as he explains that “sound is a ghost … and your body is the house it haunts.”

Cole Webley, a Salt Lake City-based director, spent decades dreaming of premiering one of his films in Park City. The Utah native has attended the Sundance Film Festival for nearly 20 years, waiting in long lines as the snow fell around him, shivering in the cold in hopes of catching a hot new movie. Just ahead of the new year, the Sundance Film Festival has unveiled its 2025 slate of programming that’s packed with exciting and buzzworthy new horror.

Today the fest announced their comprehensive slate of films selected from the fest that will take place January 23 –February 2, 2025, in person in Park City, Salt Lake City, and the Sundance Resort, along with a selection of films available online starting January 30. Packages and passes are available now at Sundance’s site.

Per Variety, Kyle Edward Ball is teaming with A24 for his next horror feature titled, The Land of Nod. Ball will both write and direct the film, though details surrounding the plot of the film have not yet been released. Horror writer/director Kyle Edward Ball has announced his follow-up to “Skinamarink” just in time for spooky season.

As announced Monday, Ball will partner with A24 for his upcoming feature, “The Land of Nod.” While plot details are being kept under wraps, the film will be an original horror feature. Ball wrote the screenplay and will direct.

Josh Safdie is producing, along with Eli Bush, Elijah Wood, and Daniel Noah, Central’s Ronald Bronstein, SpectreVision’s Lawrence Inglee, Tatiana Bears, and Bruno Vernaschi Berman. Theo Vieljeux will executive produce. A24 will handle the global release of the film.

“Skinamarink” was released via IFC Midnight in 2023 after premiering at festivals the year prior. Sony Pictures Classics has picked up North America, Benelux, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Asia excluding South Korea to Richard Gere starrer Norman: The Moderate Rise And Tragic Fall Of A New York Fixer.

Separately, the company said on Monday it had acquired the rest of the Pedro Almodovar library and has dated the Spanish master’s upcoming Julieta for December 21.

Joseph Cedar wrote and directed Norman: The Moderate Rise And Tragic Fall Of A New York Fixer, which was previously known as Oppenheimer Strategies and marks his follow-up to Footnote, the Oscar nominee that Spc also distributed.

Charlotte Gainsbourg, Josh Charles, Michael Sheen, Lior Ashkenazi, Dan Stevens, Steve Buscemi and Hank Azaria star in the drama about a small-time fixer who gets in over his head in Middle East politics.

The Orchard has picked up North American rights to Oscar nominee Oren Moverman’s forthcoming film The Dinner and is planing a fall release. Moverman is in post on the film. He adapted the screenplay from Herman Koch’s novel. The Dinner tells the tale of two families struggling to make the hardest decisions of their lives during the course of one meal. The pic explores just how far parents will go to protect their children.

The story centers on a successful journalist (Dern) whose mother finds a story she wrote at age 13 describing a sexual triangle with two adult coaches. Jennifer sets out to find the coaches, now forty years later.

Jerry Lewis – who turned 90 on Wednesday – will present the official premiere of his latest film, Max Rose, on April 10 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The storyline revolves around vengeance and the fierce competition for valuable shipping routes and priceless materials that converge in a spectacular battle on the decks of behemoth cargo ships.

Berlin-based One Two Films is making its first foray into Stateside production as the co-producer on Jennifer Fox’s fiction feature debut The Tale, which begins shooting at locations in Louisiana today (Oct 20).

The $3.5m investigative thriller is being produced by Blackbird Films and A Luminous Mind Productions, with Lawrence Inglee and Laura Rister as producers and Oren Moverman serving as executive producer.

The autobiographical story has a cast headed up by Laura Dern, with Ellen Burstyn, Isabelle Nélisse, Elizabeth Debicki and Jason Ritter.

One Two Films’ Sol Bondy - who was a Screen Future Leader at Cannes 2013 - told ScreenDaily he had been introduced to The Tale as a project when he and Fox took part in the 2013/14 edition of the Transatlantic Film Partners programme.

He subsequently brought public broadcaster Zdf and Arte to the project which is being handled internationally by Mongrel International and is set to wrap principal photography in December.
