Each week on “Whatcha Packin’,” Michelle Visage interviews the recently eliminated queen, but for the three finalists of season 16 she’s sitting down to chat ahead of the April 19 “Grand Finale.” Plane Jane talks padding, confidence and family support as moments that propelled her to the end of the competition. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In her interview with Michelle, Jane reveals the birth of her drag career as coming from a “downward spiral” she was in following her grandma’s death and how she turned her obsession with “Drag Race” in to a goal and a way of coming out of a negative trajectory. She said she started with makeup and practiced using Raven as a guide in her room “for a year” before she “got the courage” to go out in public in drag. She adds that she...

Proving that Dynasty isn’t the only beloved piece of ’80s pop culture worth preserving, RuPaul paid homage to another classic TV series in Friday’s episode of Drag Race All Stars, which ended with the show’s most unexpected lip sync battle yet.
As is tradition, the episode concluded with the week’s top two queens — in this case, Monet X Change and Jinkx Monsoon — competing in a lip sync smackdown. But rather than performing a song, the queens were tasked with lip syncing to the iconic “the night the lights went out in Georgia” monologue from a 1986 episode of the sitcom Designing Women.

Improv and comedy challenges seem to be the weakness of these queens. Case in point: the mixed reception of the jokes during RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14 Episode 13.
Landing a joke is a fine art, and some of these performers were skilled comics. For the others? The cringe was in full effect.
But did "The Ross Mathews Roast" live up to the Roasts that came before?
For an excellent Roast to be legendary in Drag Race herstory, it needs some powerhouse zingers, a few memorable moments, and more than half of the queens doing well.
"The Ross Mathews Roast" didn't meet the match of the strong Roasts of the past.
The Roasts of RuPaul and Michelle Visage were epic challenges that will never be forgotten. And the laughs from the Roast on RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race can still be heard today.

#TeamKandyMuse fans are preparing themselves for a disappointing grand finale on “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” The 25-year-old New York City queen has lowly 33/1 odds to be named the winner of Season 13, according to Gold Derby’s predictions. That puts Kandy in fourth place behind Gottmik (the predicted winner), Symone (the odds-on runner-up) and Rosé (the likely third placer). Do you agree or disagree with the predictions of your fellow “Drag Race” fans? There’s still time to make your picks before the grand finale airs Friday, April 23 on VH1.

Let’s be honest, none of us are the same people we were at the start of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13. And with the coronation at last approaching, it’s time to lock in our bets: Which queen (or queens?) will finally win this thing?
All cynicism aside, this season — with its cast of memorable, impactful queens — has been one for the herstory books. And while it’s easy to joke about this feeling like the longest season ever, that doesn’t mean we’re ready for it to end just yet.

For much of this season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” Symone has been the predicted winner by hundreds of dedicated fans taking part in Gold Derby’s predictions center. However, in the past week, we’ve seen a major shift on our winner’s chart. Now Gottmik is the front-runner to win by a slim margin. Symone is close behind in second place, with Rosé in third and Kandy Muse in fourth. Do you agree or disagree with the predictions of your fellow “Drag Race” fans? There’s still time to make (or update) your picks before the Season 13 grand finale airs Friday, April 23 on VH1.

Ahead of next week’s grand finale, the queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13 reunited (mostly virtually) on Friday to spill some tea, throw some shade and, most importantly, promote some Bubly Bounce. (Symone deserves an Emmy for that delivery.)
The nine eliminated queens — Kahmora Hall, Joey Jay, Tamisha Iman, Lala Ri, Elliott With 2 Ts, Denali, Tina Burner, Utica Queen and Olivia Lux — beamed in from their hometowns to get real about the goops and gags of the season, while the Top 4 — Gottmik, Rosé, Symone and Kandy Muse — stepped foot on the finale stage for the very first time.

Last week on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” more than a couple bombs went off when the remaining six queens took the stage for a “Nice Girls Roast.” In an effort to throw deep shade at one another, including a collection of former Miss Congeniality winners, Utica Queen and Symone both fell flat, landing themselves in the bottom two. Symone, a four time challenge winner, was able to fend off Utica to remain in the competition. Tonight, she joins Gottmik, Olivia Lux, Kandy Muse and Rosé in one of the strongest groups of final five in series history.

Now that Kandy Muse has finally won a challenge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 13, she believes she’s “in this race for real.” In the sneak peek video for this week’s all-new episode (watch above), Kandy tells her fellow queens, “You don’t understand how happy I am. Listen, the roast is such a ‘Drag Race’ staple, I’m like, oh my God, I won!” Symone still leads the Final 5 with four challenge victories, followed by Gottmik, Olivia Lux and Rosé at two apiece and Kandy in the rear with one. The 13th episode, titled “Henny, I Shrunk the Drag Queens,” airs Friday, April 2 on VH1.

Last week on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” the last seven standing were asked to sell themselves to the audience with a brand messaging challenge in which Utica Queen and Tina Burner just did not pop. Utica defeated Tina in her second lip sync of the season, convincing her that she might be the new lip sync assassin. Meanwhile, Rosé and Symone each collected another win, cementing their status as the frontrunners of the season. Moments after extinguishing Tina Burner on the main stage, Utica Queen returned to the werkroom on Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race — but not everyone was in a condragulatory mood.
While Rosé was quick to compliment Utica on a lip well synced, Kandy Muse refused to acknowledge her victory at all — at least to Utica’s face. “I’m not going to sit here and tell you, ‘Oh, girl, you slayed the lip sync when I don’t think you did,” Kandy said in a confessional. “I thought Tina slayed that f–ing lip sync.” Meanwhile, Utica wondered aloud...

If last week on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” was about translating your drag brand on to the face and body of another queen, then this week is about selling that brand message to the masses. After a peer-swap makeover challenge that saw two-time winner Olivia Lux fall to the bottom and send her friend Denali home, host RuPaul Charles thought it’d be fun to double-down on brand messaging with the top 7 by asking them to create and sell in a commercial their own can of soda pop inspired by their own brand as a drag queen.

A flat performance in a soda-themed challenge got another competitor canned on Friday’s Drag Race, leaving us with but a six-pack of queens.
Following an arousing — sorry, make that a rousing — game of Are You Smarter Than the Pit Crew?, which challenged the queens’ knowledge of Drag Race institutions like Lil’ Poundcake and the Interior Illusions Lounge, the group was presented with this week’s maxi challenge: to create and brand a soft drink, design the can, produce and star in a commercial, and write a catchy jingle. You know, totally normal things that all drag queens do in their day-to-day lives.

Last week on the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” runway, six different queens named Olivia Lux as the person who should go home. Host RuPaul Charles took that advice under consideration, but ultimately told Olivia’s makeover partner Denali to “sashay away” instead. When the contestants all return to the work room during Friday’s 11th episode, Olivia reacts (a bit too calmly) to the queens naming her. “It’s one of those things where I just don’t take things personally,” declares the 26-year-old queen in VH1’s sneak peek video (watch above). “I moved to New York with that motto. It’s just drag. I know you girls so I know it comes from a place of love.”

Last week on the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” runway, Symone dropped jaws by wearing a pure white gown with red bullet holes in the back. The words “Say Their Names” was written on the back of her fascinator, a reference to the many Black lives that have been lost too soon. “I really wanted to somehow bring a message to the runway that people are still dying and things are still happening,” Symone explains in the sneak peek video for Episode 10 (watch above). “I wanted to be unapologetically Black. Two weeks ago on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” RuPaul Charles stopped Kandy Muse in her tracks as she made her “sashay” off the runway to say that she wasn’t ready for her to leave the competition yet. It was a surprising, but well-received decision by the cast for a rare “double shantay” after Kandy and Symone, once thought to be frontrunners, had both fallen into the bottom two. It's the Maxi Challenge we've all been waiting for! The Snatch Game is back on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 13 Episode 9.
This game is the challenge that separates the queens into the frontrunners and the fillers. If a queen does amazing in the Snatch Game, their odds of making Top 4 rise high. If they stumble, they'll need to shine elsewhere or face elimination.
Many past Drag Race queens defined their legacies during a Snatch Game. But did this Snatch Game leave its mark in Drag Race herstory?
Overall, the Snatch Game for RuPaul's Drag Race Season 13 was pretty good.

Last week on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” host RuPaul Charles shocked the queens (and the viewers) when she declared nobody would be going home. That’s right, all nine contestants advanced to the next round. However, we won’t see the Top 9 in action for another week as the show is taking a break from the competition to air a Covid-19 documentary. “Corona Can’t Keep A Good Queen Down,” which will air in the normal “Drag Race” time slot on February 26, will detail how VH1’s long-running reality TV show was able to produce episodes during the coronavirus pandemic. Watch the preview trailer above.

There’s no surprise that Symone dominated our recent poll that asked fans of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” to name who they were personally rooting for win Season 13. After all, she’s been the odds-on front-runner all year long, thanks in part to winning two early maxi challenges. But there is somewhat of a surprise in our poll results in that Rose, one of the infamous Pork Chop queens, comes in second place. That’s right — Rose has 22% support from “Drag Race” viewers, just behind Symone with leading 30%. Do you agree or disagree with your fellow fans? Sound off down in the comments section.

Last week on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 13 we said goodbye to sweetheart of the season Lala Ri after confident dancer Elliott with 2 Ts outperformed her in the lip sync for your life. The two fell to the bottom after struggling to make their mark in an improv challenge spoofing late night talk shows. Olivia Lux managed to earn her second straight overall win for the season, putting her on pace with Symone as the frontrunners to take the crown.

Broadway may still be dark, but Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race kept the music going (for better or worse) with the debut of its latest Rusical.
The Rusical is a time-honored tradition, one that has previously explored everything from the rise of the Kardashians (R.I.P., Kimye!) to the fall of herstory’s baddest bitches. So, how did Social Media: The Unverified Rusical stack up against previous seasons’ productions? In the words of Dorinda Medley, “not well, bitch.” Seriously, not even a pre-show pep talk from Anne Hathaway could save this one.

Buoyed by her two maxi challenge victories, Symone has been the front-runner to win “RuPaul’s Drag Race” all season long. The 25-year-old Los Angeles queen is such an obvious threat that she was even the impetus for the epic fight between Tamisha Iman and Kandy Muse — remember, Tamisha took issue when Kandy called Symone her biggest competition. However, with Season 13 halfway over, Symone now has to watch out for another dominant contestant who’s coming for her crown: Olivia Lux.

From slaying homophobia to slaying fierce looks, drag queens are tough — and the 13 seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race are a testament to that. Last week on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 13, tensions between rivals Kandy Muse and Tamisha Iman hit a feverish pitch after the queens both fell into the bottom two after a disco-themed dancing challenge. While Tamisha may have won over the hearts of audiences this season, Kandy defeated her in the Lsyfl and remained in the competition. On the other side of the competition, Olivia Lux finally inched her way to the top of the leaderboard with her first maxi challenge win.

Improv is a very important skill for the Drag Race contestants. If they can't think on their feet, their chances of winning will be walking out the door.
On RuPaul's Drag Race Season 13 Episode 7, two very important challenges returned to test the queens on their comedy and improv abilities.
Reading is what? Fundamental! And some of the jokes this round landed their mark to serve all the laughs.
The "Reading is Fundamental" Mini Challenge is an iconic staple in the series. The queens get to let loose and make RuPaul laugh while also throwing shade at each other. It's a must-have!
Not having the challenge return during RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 was a noticeable misstep. So, it's great to have it back again, even if the winner's edit was obvious.
Gottmik killed it during the Mini Challenge!
Her savage reads on Utica Queen, Tina Burner, and Kandy Muse were shady to all hell.

Reboots and Ru-vivals may be all the rage, but they rarely match the quality of the original. Enter this week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Three seasons after The Bossy Rossy Show wowed audiences with its terrifying pickles and sexy drag babies, Ross Mathews’ iconique late-night talker was brought back for another round on Friday — and it was all over the place. (Sure, there were a few highlights, but it’s not a great night of performances when someone receives the highest honors for playing a mime. Even if she did emote for the gods.)

This season on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” it apparently pays off to win early. In the premiere episode, host RuPaul Charles separated the queens into two groups based on whether they won or lost their initial head-to-head lip syncs. The champs celebrated by calling themselves the “A-Team,” while the losers entered the Pork Chop Lounge and had to vote out one of their own on the spot. The two groups reunited weeks later, which is when the Season 13 competition truly began. Three queens have been eliminated so far, but none of them have been from the original “A-Team.” Hmm, is there a Pork Chop curse?

Last week on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 13, the queens faced their first design challenge of the season when RuPaul Charles asked them to cap off a three-look ball with a newly created garment inspired by and made from “bags.” Gottmik was declared the overall winner, her first, over Rosé who had to settle for second place for a third time. Left in the bottom two was Lala Ri and Joey Jay, a “Fancy” lip sync convinced the judges that Lala was the one deserving to stay.
This week, the competition continued with a “Disco-Mentary,” requiring the queens to share the herstory of the disco movement in a dancing challenge.

With the negative vibes from last week’s explosive Untucked still looming large in the werkroom, Season 13’s apparent rivals went wig to wig for a second time on Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race — only this time, one of the queens got knocked out. Of the competition, that is.
The season’s sixth episode (“Disco-Mentary”) began with Tamisha Iman and Elliott With 2 Ts teaming up for a wallpaper-inspired mini challenge. As the only two queens not picked to partner with anyone else, Tamisha and Elliott had something to prove — and prove it they did, posing and punning their way to victory.

Last week on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 13, figure skater Denali took the stage for her second lip sync of the season, this time as a bottom queen and against her Chicago sister Kahmora Hall. In what was one of the most clear cut decisions in “Drag Race” history, Denali vogued the house down and saved herself. Her triumph overshadowed the actual challenge winner of the week, Symone, who earned her second win of the season.

Are you ready for the ball, darling? You know they bring it to you every season.
That's right! Thirty-six outfits strutted the runway on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 13 Episode 5. It's a lot to take in all within one round.
Some killed it, and others blew the judges away. But one queen walked away with the worst runway outfit in Drag Race herstory.
The ball challenges have been getting bigger and bigger throughout the years. Does anyone else remember when they used to be run during the Top 4 or Top 5?
Now, it's a large party with up to 36 ensembles walking the runway during a single episode.
The problem here is that it's too many outfits to assess and appreciate in a short amount of time. It's one look after another before they're quickly forgotten as the next look takes its place.

After three episodes of a “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 13 without a permanent elimination, we were excited to see the melodrama officially start with all 13 queens finally being in the werk room together to compete for the world’s most coveted crown. The reunion of the winning queens with the losing queens caused some friction among a few girls and ultimately led to one of them succumbing to challenge of the multi-faceted competition.
Last week the losing group from the season premiere challenge faced off in three runway walks and a group performance of Ru’s song “Phenomenon.” Denali and Rosé faced off in a “lip sync for the win” as the top two with Denali getting her first win under her belt. This week marked the first time the entire cast would be together and compete in a mini and maxi challenge in order to determine the first queen eliminated.

This is the moment we've all been waiting for: the entire cast has reunited! The games have finally begun on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 13 Episode 4.

“Symone, you’re a winner, baby.” That’s what an overwhelming number of people think will be heard in the Season 13 finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” according to early predictions. Right now this 25-year-old Los Angeles resident tops all of the other queens on Gold Derby’s winner’s chart, thanks no doubt to her maxi challenge triumph during last week’s second episode. Symone and Olivia Lux were declared the top two of the week, but Symone secured her victory by winning the lip sync challenge to Dua Lipa‘s “Break My Heart.” Yes, that means Symone is the only queen this season to win two lip syncs … so far.

The winning queens came to slay (and slay they did).
On RuPaul's Drag Race Season 13 Episode 2, it was a non-elimination round for the queens who came out on top during the premiere. Instead of competing for safety, they got another chance to show their star quality and potential snag some cash.
These rounds aren't the most exciting reality TV weeks, but if you love the fabulousness of drag, this round is right up your alley.
Did anyone actually believe the queen who got the chop would be eliminated?
During last week's review of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 13 Episode 1, I theorized the possibility but stuck in the camp, it wasn't going to happen. There's no way Mama Ru would give up that control, especially during a mainline season.
It seems my guess was right ... it was all for the drama.
