Grammy Award-winning country music artiste Shania Twain released her new album, “Queen of Me” on Friday. The record is a limitless expression of pop that allows it to sit comfortably next to her many chart successors, enshrining it as an upbeat, playful, and joyous album.
The album is sonically inspired by ’70s and ’80s funk and rock – just like the sounds she grew up with and considered her heroes. It’s a departure from the past and a strident step into an ever-improving future.
The album consists of 12 new tracks. In the stand-out friendship anthem “Best Friend’, Shania affectionately gushes over her closest confidant as she emphasises “you always take the blame and you know I’d do the same for you. No matter what, yeah I got you, and I know that you got me.”
The LP represents a deep and dynamic creative statement from this iconic voice – from the energetic opener “Giddy Up!

Right now, I'm feeling very comfortable in my own skin – and this album reflects that musically. Life is short and I want to be uplifted, colorful, unapologetic and empowered.

Shania Twain will release her sixth studio album Queen of Me on Feb. 3, her first full-length record in nearly six years. Alongside her Republic Nashville debut, the country icon will embark on a global arena tour spanning 49 dates, including stops at Nashville’s Geodis Park on June 7 and at New York’s Madison Square Garden on July 11.
“This new record is fun and celebrative, really on the other side of Now,” Twain told Rina Sawayama in a recent Rolling Stone Musicians on Musicians interview. “I’m happy in my own skin.

Arguably the biggest prizes in country music, the Country Music Association Awards (CMAs) seek to honor the best in the industry. The award show features categories like Album of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Female and Male Artist of the Year, and the coveted Entertainer of the Year award. Let’s take a look at a few names that could pop up in the nominations list this year.
There are a couple of favorites who will get nominations without a doubt. Maren Morris’s “Humble Quest” is one of her best pieces of work and includes the hit “Circles Around This Town,” which could get into Song of the Year. There’s also Miranda Lambert, who will be in contention for her new album “Palomino” and the hit single “If I Was a Cowboy.” Similarly, Jason Aldean has found success with his album “Macon, Georgia,” led by his already-cma-winning duet with Carrie Underwood,...

Next week’s CMA Fest in Nashville will feature hundreds of the hottest acts in Country Music. One thing it will not feature, however, is the Confederate flag.
Along with drones, bikes and drug paraphernalia, the festival’s list of prohibited items and activities now includes “Confederate flag imagery of any kind.” The event’s Code of Conduct further covers things like hate speech:
CMA is committed to creating and sustaining an inclusive culture where all people have access to experience Country Music. Therefore, inappropriate behavior such as discrimination, harassment, any form of abuse and/or targeted comments which may cause any person to fear for their safety at the Event will not be tolerated.
That includes “any displays of the Confederate flag,” according to a statement the Country Music Association provided to the Tennessean this week.
Some country musicians have, over the decades, wrapped themselves — or their stage setup — in the Confederate flag.

We'll never be "just about over" Priscilla Block. The 26-year-old country singer first burst onto the music scene thanks to TikTok, where she spent the pandemic sharing her original songs and bold attitude with fans. Who else sings songs about Pms or having curves that'll save lives? "With 'Pms' and 'Thick Thighs', when I wrote those songs, they are unapologetically me," says Block. "Just seeing the response from people, it makes you be like 'wow, this is what I should write about: my life and Pms-ing and being this hot mess all the time.' People relate to it. People want to hear it." Perhaps the song she's most known for,...

The 2022 CMT Music Awards were handed out on Monday night, April 11, at 8:00pm Eastern on CBS. These awards honor the best in country music videos, but unlike the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Awards, which are voted on by industry peers, these awards are decided by fans. So who were the big winners? Scroll down for the complete list.
Kane Brown co-hosted the event with Kelsea Ballerini and Anthony Mackie, and he also led with four nominations including Video of the Year for “One Mississippi.” That category started with 12 nominees when they were initially announced. Fan votes then narrowed that down to the top six, and the day of the show we learned the final three: Brown’s “One Mississippi,” Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood‘s “If I Didn’t Love You,” and Cody Johnson‘s “Til You Can’t.”
Johnson and breakthrough artist Breland followed with three nominations apiece.
