Actress Nishigandha Wad, who essays the role of Haider’s mother Heena in the television show ‘Rabb Se Hai Dua’, has shared that she took cues from legendary actor Irrfan Khan for her part in the show.
In the recent episodes, viewers witnessed how Ghazal tries to kill Haider’s mother Heena (Nishigandha Wad), but somehow the Akhtar family manages to save her. However, now that Heena is suffering from short-term memory loss, the whole family is trying to recreate the best moments of her life to help her get her memory back.
To bring authenticity to the scenes and to do complete justice to the show’s storyline, she watched movies like ‘Piku’ and ‘Karwaan’.
Talking about the same, Nishigandha Wad said, “I am thrilled that through this show, I got a chance to bring versatility to my acting. When I was informed by my creative team that my...

The BAFTAs have a soft spot for home-grown talent. Earlier this year, “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande” scored four bids at the British Academy Film Awards, including Best Actor (Daryl McCormack) and Best Actress (Emma Thompson). Before that, in 2022, Adeel Akhtar snuck into the Best Actor lineup for “Ali & Ava” and Joanna Scanlan won Best Actress for “After Love.”
This pattern of Brits recognizing Brits could bode well for Daniel Kaluuya this year, who makes his directorial debut with the new Netflix drama “The Kitchen.” The film depicts a dystopian London in which all social housing has been eliminated. The focus in the story are the residents of The Kitchen, a community that refuses to leave their homes despite their struggles. At the heart of the film is Kane Robinson‘s (also known as Kano) Izi, who takes Jedaiah Bannerman‘s young boy under his wing and tries...

Indian web series “Made In Heaven” is the talk of the town for exploring the opulence and the dogmas of Indian society through seven exceptional stories.
But more than that, the show is applauded for a unique casting – Tinetra Haldar.
Haldar joins the team of wedding planners led by Sobhita Dhulipala’s Tara and Arjun Mathur’s Karan in the second season. Haldar, as Meher, is arguably the first trans woman cast in a recurring role in a mainstream Indian series.
Regarding onboarding Trinetra, showrunner Zoya Akhtar tells Et Canada, “Our casting directors found her on Instagram. She’s a doctor. We didn’t really know if she could act or if she’d want to act. So, we contacted her. She sent us a set of tapes — which we loved — and then we asked her if she could audition with us in person. She did two or three scenes...

Netflix has unveiled a new teaser for “The Archies,” a coming-of-age, live action musical set in 1960s India based on the teenagers of Riverdale.
“The Archies” is a feature film adaptation of the Archie comics, which are hugely popular on the Indian subcontinent.
The teaser, released during Netflix’s Tudum fan event, reveals that the film is set in 1964 in Riverdale, described on a railway sign as a “hill station,” a term dating back to colonial times that refers to a town located at a higher elevation than the nearby plain. One of the transport links servicing the hill stations are small mountain railway trains running on narrow gauge tracks, known affectionately in India as “toy trains” and the teaser opens with a shot of top train puffing into Riverdale station.
Once in the quaint town, the teaser reveals the iconic Pop Tate’s, a soda shop that Archie and his friends hang out at.

‘Never Have I Ever’ Director Kabir Akhtar Believes ‘The Door Is Open for More’ Indian American Shows
One of director Kabir Akhtar’s first episodes on Mindy Kaling’s Netflix comedy series “Never Have I Ever” was the first episode told from Ben Gross’s (Jaren Lewison) point of view in Season 1.
The show follows Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) as she conquers the rollercoaster of high school, the emotions of adolescence and her particularly hot temper, which could flare at any moment. Devi also experiences a classic love triangle between two very different boys — Lewison’s overachieving, nerdy Ben Gross and Darren Barnet’s laid-back jock Paxton Hall-Yoshida.
“I ended up directing both Ben episodes and one of the Paxton episodes, and that first one, one of the things I loved most about it was — you look at it on the surface, and to that point in the show you have this young brown girl as the main character,” Akhtar told TheWrap. “This privileged white kid who...

“The fact is we are unaware that a huge segment of Pakistan wants to have good relations with India because they see us as a neighbouring country with a lot of development, growing industry and rich culture,” poet & author Javed Akhtar said today.
Speaking at the second edition of the ‘Ideas of India’ Summit, he added, “The love for the nation, city, and school is a natural feeling and there is no bleak doubt in it. It is natural for any individual to love the country they are born in. If somebody doesn’t feel the same way then there is a problem. For instance, in sports, there is a separate anthem for every team and there is always a devotion on their faces filled with love. It is impossible for an individual not to worship their anthem and feel goosebumps.”
Akhtar added, “Being a member of society and country,...

New Delhi, Feb 21 (Ians) Acclaimed lyricist, screenwriter and poet Javed Akhtar’s comments in Pakistan on 26/11 terrorists “roaming free” in the country and the bitterness in the hearts of Indians have drawn huge applause in India.
Akhtar was last week welcomed with thunderous applause at the 7th Faiz Festival in Lahore. Apart from his love for great Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Akhtar (78) spoke largely about language, both English and mother tongue – be t Hindi, Urdu or a regional one – and the need to give the same respect to all of them.
During an interaction, Akhtar said that Pakistan couldn’t blame Indians for being angry.
The lyricist was responding to the audience saying: “You have visited Pakistan so many times. When you go back, do you tell your people that these are good people, they aren’t just bombing us but also greeting us with garlands and love?”

The announcement of our engagement on October 2, 1966, reverberated with sensational and joyous tidings all over the country. It was an indescribable experience. The media was splashing the news all over and the radio stations kept on announcing the event every couple of hours. There was an air of great festivity in Bombay (and probably elsewhere as well) as all available loudspeakers belted out our favourite film songs!
The news of our forthcoming marriage came as a surprise to all those who had thought I was an unrelenting, highly eligible bachelor who would never settle down. My fans and also my friends, such as Satish Bhalla, Raj Kapoor, producer Ved Puri, Hiten Choudhary, Pran and Balraj Kohli, were agog with ‘how did this happen’? Saira’s career was just five years old; we had never worked together and were never linked romantically. Consequently, there literally was a storm in the minds of people,...
