- Cousin of Toronto Raptors teammate Vince Carter. McGrady and Carter played together on the Raptors from 1998 until 2000.
- On June 29th, 2004, McGrady was traded by the Orlando Magic along with Juwan Howard, Tyronn Lue, and Reece Gaines to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Kelvin Cato.
