Kennon Armstrong
- Make-Up Department
Kennon and Buddy Holly are third cousins on his dad's side, so his family culture was typical of west Texas cowboys; Farmers, ranchers, and musicians in church. His mother's father was a butcher raised in Louisiana, and was friends with Jimmy Dean.
Story has it, that Kennon's grandfather sold the sage sausage recipe to Jimmy Dean for $35.
At 6 years old, Kennon learned to play some of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" by ear. Inspired by Beethoven, Kennon began composing instrumental music.
Kennon survived childhood and left home at 18 years old with a full scholarship in Theatre. Good at improvisation, bad at reciting lines, 6 months later he enlisted in the Marines. About halfway through boot camp in San Diego, he decided not to take the second set of shots and was given an ELS and the choice to join another branch of the military.
His next five years he calls the "street kid" years. He lived with no car, all of his belongings in a backpack, sleeping on someone's floor and "couch surfing" until he and some theater friends enrolled in cosmetology school.
He grew his hair out. He joined a band. The rest is history.
