NEW YORK -- Cox Communications Inc. is joining the parade of cable companies forming regional sports services as the cable operator will launch Cox Sports Television in Louisiana on Oct. 28. Cox said it has obtained the rights to 65 games of the NBA's New Orleans Hornets -- which moved from Charlotte, N.C., this season -- and will run a wide array of college and high school events as well. "When the Hornets announced they were coming to New Orleans, there was a lot of excitement here locally," Cox vp public and government affairs Steve Sawyer said, adding that the operator wanted to beat other regional networks -- like Fox Sports -- to the punch. "We could either pay someone else to carry the service that was going to be in our back yard, or we could get out of the box in carrying it."...
