Deyse Reis was born on July 14, 1984 in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. Daughter of Eva Reis, a housewife, and Robson Reis, a bank officer, the younger sister of Olga Reis was just 1 year old when she moved with her family to Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, where she lived until she completed 23.
Deyse graduated as a journalist from Faculdade Social da Bahia in 2008. Her final paper, a journalistic book called "Diário de uma Floresta Seca (Diary of a Dry Forest)" was nominated by Intercom (Communication Congress) as one of the top 5 Best Books in the "Diverse category". After graduating, Deyse moved to Sao Paulo where she has been living since then. Deyse had been acting as a press agent for the singer and composer Kylie Minogue in Brazil, promoting the artist work for over 10 years in the region.
In 2017, Deyse completed her studies in Cinema at Latin America Film Institute. Multitasker, she quickly managed to be a director assistant in 4 Projections and D.O.D that year, leading to nominations to several awards. In 2019, she made her debut in a feature film, Skull, as a script supervisor, gained critic acclaim and received a few awards in film festivals.
While ascending in her career working as a Production Assistant, which part of the catalog includes Mundo Curiozoo (Discovery Channel), Um Ano Inesquecível - Inverno (Amazon Prime), Joint Venture (HBO Max), Tudo igual... SQN (Disney Plus), Deyse decided it was time to evolve.
In 2020, during the Pandemic, she founded Mulier Filmes, her own production company. The first project was a short web series for Instagram which reached over than 60.000 viewers - O Que Acontece na Pandemia. and it was followed by the short films Little Peter and Hamburger (being the producer of both, and director and writer of the second). The movies were nominated by festivals for Best Short Movie.
The Other Side of Pandemic, produced, directed and written by Deyse, got raving reviews and it was nominated for best original idea at Rio Web fest and Lift-Off Global Sessions. The series was also nominated for Best Series, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Cinemathography and Best Screenplay at Brazil International Monthly Independent Film Festival. The series was victorious as Best Screenplay. The Other Side of Pandemic was shown on the TV CNB via Roku TV to 89 countries. In addition, it was the subject of a class at UniJorge University (Salvador/Brazil) in Pedagogy and Administration courses. The works of Mulier Filmes are on streaming platforms such as Now, Vivo Play and Box Brazil Play.
