Whoever first said that distance makes the heart grow fonder might have been onto something. Singer-songwriters Del Water Gap and Holly Humberstone have experienced first-hand the gravitational pull of oceans separating them from the people they want to be closest to — and they poured those memories into their latest single “Cigarettes & Wine.”
“‘Cigarettes & Wine’ is an ode to a transatlantic long-distance relationship,” Del Water Gap shared in a statement. “It’s about finally getting to catch a moment with the person you’ve been missing the most, and the threads...

Holly Humberstone has teamed up with Muna for a new version of her song, “Into Your Room.”
Initially released as a single this past September, Humberstone’s original version of “Into Your Room” was included as the second track on her debut studio album, Paint My Bedroom Black. Now, Muna have loaned their voices to the track. “I’m obsessed with Muna and have been wanting to work with them for ages,” Humberstone said in a statement. “I’m so thankful that I finally get to have them bring their magic to one of my songs.” Listen to the new version of “Into Your Room” below.
Named by Consequence as a rising artist to watch in 2023, Humberstone has certainly had a big year. After touring with Olivia Rodrigo in 2022, she wrote a batch of songs that would become Paint My Bedroom Black, which dropped this past October and reached No.

Holly Humberstone is pretty sure her childhood home is haunted.
Sitting in an average-sized hotel room in New York’s Gramercy neighborhood, the 23-year-old songwriter gets excited discussing the home she grew up in, which is 3,000 miles away in Grantham, England. “There’s this huge basement and just spiders and frogs down there,” Humberstone says. “There’s this whole grim room in the cellar that has meat hooks and then gutters so all the blood can run.”

The Bangles frontwoman Susanna Hoffs has announced a new album, a collection of covers called The Deep End. The project is out April 7th via Baroque Folk, while the first taste of the LP — a cover of The Rolling Stones’ 1966 track “Under My Thumb” — is available to stream now.
Produced by Peter Asher, The Deep End sees Hoffs tackle classics from the Stones, Squeeze, and Leslie Gore, as well as modern songs by artists like Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, and Brandy Clark. It arrives at the same time as The Bird Has Flown, the artist’s debut novel. Pre-orders for both the album and the book are ongoing.
While she admits to loving the Stones and “Under My Thumb” — “I’ve listened to that song on repeat since it came out in the mid-’60s,” she recalled in a statement — covering the track presented Hoffs with the opportunity to practice a little gender trouble.

Sam Fender has announced a second headline show at St James’ Park in Newcastle, which will take place next summer on 10 June, following on from his first show on 9 June.
The North Shields singer-songwriter is the first Geordie musician to headline the 55,000-capacity stadium, with Fender calling the gig a “childhood dream come true”.
“Ever since I started this band, I always used to joke with the boys that one day we might play St James' Park in Newcastle,” he said in a statement.
“It's a childhood dream come true, and we're actually gonna play it on the 9th June. This is literally gonna be the biggest show we've ever done - our first stadium show, which is so weird to say! I can't wait, it's gonna be absolutely lush and I hope to see yas all there.”
Irish rock band Inhaler and singer Holly Humberstone have been booked as support acts.

Put on a seatbelt, Holly! On Friday, Holly Humberstone released the music video for her sweet yet melancholic single “Sleep Tight” and it follows her as she rides a messy minivan through a sleepy neighborhood.
“I wrote the song during the first summer out of lockdown, which was a pretty crazy time for my friends and me. We finally had our freedom back and it kind of felt like we had nothing to lose after such a difficult few months,” Humberstone tells Rolling Stone, as she premieres the song’s video.

The 2022 Brit Awards took place on Feb. 8 at The O2 Arena. Hosted by comedian Mo Gilligan, the ceremony saw a pretty impressive range of performers take to the stage throughout the night, including Anne-Marie, Ksi, Dave, Ed Sheeran (who brought out Bring Me the Horizon's Oli Sykes), Holly Humberstone, Liam Gallagher, Little Simz, and Sam Fender.
The chart-topping Adele was a late addition to the lineup. On Feb. 1, she announced on Instagram that she'd be performing live at the event. "Hiya, so I'm really happy to say that I am performing at the Brits next week!!" she wrote. "Anddddd I'll also be popping in to see Graham for a chat on the couch while I'm in town too! I'm looking forward to it! Oh, and Rich sends his love." The announcement came shortly after the singer was forced to cancel her Las Vegas residency, following the news that the majority...

The 2022 Brit Awards was a night filled with good music and fun moments at the O2 Arena in London, hosted by Mo Gilligan - with the help of Maya Jama - and held in front of an audience of nominees, presenters, and key workers.
It's be the second time the BRITs has taken place in real life since the pandemic, and we weren't disappointed with the great lineup of performances, including best new artist winner Little Simz, BRITs rising star Holly Humberstone, and best rock/alternative act Sam Fender - to name a few. The roster of live presenters was pretty great, too. Idris Elba, Celeste, Tom Daley, Mo Farrah, and Clara Amfo were among the many.
Keep on reading to find out all the winners at the 2022 BRITs.

Olivia Rodrigo pulled off the seemingly impossible feat of making the Dmv a place you’d want to be, performing a stripped-down set of Sour hits at one such location in the latest installment of NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series.
The setting — which Rodrigo described as having some “interesting vibes to it,” to say the least — was an obvious nod to her breakout hit “Drivers License,” which of course featured prominently in the four-song set. While Rodrigo had her backing band on hand, her rendition of “Drivers License” was a fully solo endeavor,...
