“Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” will premiere July 28, HBO Max has announced.
The release date was announced via a first look teaser for the series, which shows a mysterious figure cutting up and burning pictures of the five main characters: Imogen (Bailee Madison), Minnie (Malia Pyles), Noa (Maia Reficco), Tabby (Chandler Kinney) and Faran (Zaria).
The new series is a sequel to the original series that focuses on a completely new set of teenagers in the blue-collar town of Millwood, Pa. The five main characters are tormented by someone operating under the identity of “A,” an alias assumed by villains from the original show, who knows the secrets of both the teenagers, and their parents. In addition to the five main characters, the series also stars Mallory Bechtel, Sharon Leal, Elena Goode, Lea Salonga, Eric Johnson, and Alex Aiono.

"Without a doubt, he was the most intimidating pitcher in the history of the game." Utopia has revealed an official trailer for a sports biopic documentary titled Facing Nolan, profiling the baseball legend Nolan Ryan. This already premiered at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival last month, and will show in theaters on May 24th for a special event. In the world of Major League Baseball no one has created a mythology like Nolan Ryan. Told from the point of view of the hitters who faced him (which is a great setup for a doc about him) and the teammates who revered him, Facing Nolan is the definitive documentary film about a Texas legend. Directed by Bradley Jackson the film features new interviews with Nolan Ryan, President George W. Bush, Craig Biggio, Steve Buechele, George Brett, Rod Carew, Roger Clemens, Tom Grieve, Tom House, Randy Johnson, Pete Rose, Ivan Rodriguez, Bobby Valentine,...

Ralph Branca, Brooklyn, and Dodgers fans may want to forget about 1951 and "The Shot Heard Round the World," but it seems history has other plans. Strand Releasing has acquired North American rights to Andrew Muscato's baseball documentary about the pitcher, Branca, who gave up what is perhaps the most famous game-winning home run of all time. Former New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine served as an executive producer on the film, which chronicles the life of the once-beloved pitcher. The two were also Ep's of the 2012 Strand film, "Ballplayer: Pelotero." "Bobby and I are pleased to see our partnership with Strand Releasing continue," said Muscato in a statement. "'Branca’s Pitch' is a film close to both of our hearts, and we’re excited to have Strand share it with baseball fans and independent film fans alike." Branca desperately wants to tell his side of the story. He believe...

Julia Stiles is in the middle of a pretty successful April. The New York-born actress has a new film, "It's a Disaster," arriving in limited release on April 12; the Oscar-winning "Silver Linings Playbook," in which Stiles played a supporting role, is out on Blu-ray on April 30; and her favorite baseball team, the New York Mets, has started the 2013 baseball season with an above .500 record.
"I like to reserve my judgement and excitement and don't even watch baseball until later in the season," Stiles, an avid Mets fan, told The Huffington Post during a recent interview. "I know that sounds like me not being a true fan, but I've had so many years of getting really excited about Jenrry Mejia or the other new prospects at the beginning of the season, and then, by September, you can wind up disappointed with the Mets."

The inclusion of cameos in a film usually works one of two ways. They can serve as an unnecessary distraction from the plot and generally leave a bad taste in viewers’ mouths. Or they can add something substantive and make an indelible impression on the audience. Examples of the former can be found in movies like Austin Powers in Goldmember. The brief appearances by mega-stars such as Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow came off as an act of desperation on the filmmakers’ part and the Britney Spears and Ozzy Osbourne cameos automatically dated the film.
The purpose of this article is to highlight examples of cameos that make sense in context and don’t stick out like a sore thumb. They are all from comedies as that is the genre that makes the most use of cameos by far.

It started just over a year ago. On September 1st 2011, the Boston Red Sox finished off their three-game series with their bitter rivals and Al East foes the New York Yankees knowing that whilst a defeat wasn’t a good thing, they would be leaving Beantown atop of the division regardless of the result. Nobody could have predicted then what fate awaited them less than a month later. After all, the Red Sox seemingly had the foundations in place for another tilt at the World Series, with many in the media tipping them to win it all and Espn analyst Bobby Valentine even going so far as to predict they’d “score 1,000 runs” on the season. Led by the best manager in the game, Terry Francona, and overseen by boy genius Gm Theo Epstein, life seemed pretty good for the Red Sox and their fans. That’s what made the events that followed so extraordinary.

"The options in the [Dominican Republic] are jail, the army, the factory, or baseball," a Domincan ballplayer once told sportwriter Dave Zirin. Zirin delivers the quote in his essay "Béisbol: How The Major Leagues Eat Their Young," and if you think the essay title is hyperbolic, you should see the new baseball documentary Pelotero. That language isn't nearly as figurative as it sounds.
In the Dominican Republic, ballplayers - peloteros - are raised like cash crops.
Pelotero is set to be released in theaters, itunes and on demand on July 13th. It's an important - and captivating - movie for baseball fans; it also delivers more tension and a stronger narrative arc than most documentaries, which makes it more than palatable for those who aren't baseball lovers. Baseball fans will recognize Bobby Valentine's name in the credits as an executive producer, and the non-fans will recognize John Leguizamo's voice doing the narration.

Honestly, I really can't figure out if Bobby Valentine is joking here.
Speaking to reporters about the tendency of Japanese pitchers to nit pick in and out of the strike zone, Valentine offered up a bizarre explanation. The Red Sox manager spent 2004-2009, as well as 1995, managing in Japan. And now in Boston, he's managing notorious Japanese nit-picker Dice-k Matsuzaka. Yu Darvish has also shown a similar tendency this season.
Here's the Valentine video, and then we can talk about what the hell it may or may not mean:
On one hand Valentine seems sincere. On the other, he also seems a little tongue-in-cheek, and then he's got that shit-eating grin as he starts laughing at the end.
On one hand, the mentality of Japanese baseball is way different than here in the States. On the other hand, this explanation really doesn't make any damned sense at all.
There's just...

As the French say, pareil reconnait un pareil. Or as we say en Los Estados Unidos, it takes one to know one.
Washington Nationals 19-year-old phenom Bryce Harper is an astonishing douchebag - that's not breaking news. But Red Sox television play-by-play actor Don Orsillo is worse: he's a smug, smarmy New England douchebag. I'd say he's in a class by himself but unfortunately, he's not. He's just like so many shithead kids that you've had the misfortune of encountering.
Boston sports fan and Grantland Editor-In-Chief Bill Simmons once said of Orsillo: "Every time Don Orsillo announces a playoff game, I feel like I'm watching my wife make out with someone else."
Don Orsillo thinks he's really bright because he recognizes that Bryce Harper is a douchebag. Like recognizes like, you guys.
You see, Harper wears an absurd amount of eye black. He's a 19-year-old kid. He does stupid things.

Strand Releasing has acquired Us theatrical and VOD rights to baseball documentary "Ballplayer: Pelotero" directed by Ross Finkel, Trevor Martin and Jon Paley. It's the story of two young Dominican Republican baseball players (aka peloteros) as they work to be signed by a professional club on their 16th birthday -- the earliest they become eligible. The film, narrated by John Leguizamo and executive produced by Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine, is set for a July 13 release in theaters and on VOD. "Ballplayer: Pelotero" is Finkel, Martin, and Paley's first feature length film. When Bobby Valentine was introduced as the new Red Sox manager on Thursday, foodie fans of the baseball franchise had just one question: Did he really invent the wrap? "Oy, the wrap thing," Valentine mused, shaking his head.
Valentine says that in 1980, he invented the wrap at his restaurant Bobby Valentine's Sports Gallery Cafe after his toaster broke. "From that day on, they called it a wrap," he explained. "People say that they never heard of a wrap before that."
While no one can ever be sure if Valentine actually invented the wrap, one thing's for sure: we're sure glad it exists! Check out this Meatless Monday wrap recipe for some culinary inspiration.

Congratulations to Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz, who won the 2010 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby on Monday night (July 12). Ortiz managed to crank out a total of 32 home runs over the course of three rounds, including an 11 dinger final round that allowed him to slip past Hanley Ramirez, the Florida Marlins shortstop who joined Ortiz in the last round. In addition to Ramirez, Ortiz also left New York Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher, St. Louis Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday, Toronto Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells, Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder Chris Young, Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera and Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Corey Hart in his wake.
