Grasa, the second album by 29-year-old Argentine singer and rapper Nathy Peluso, kicks off with “Corleone,” a sumptuous, old-fashioned bolero. A snippet of John Barry’s dreamy 007 theme “From Russia With Love” morphs into the kind of feverish groove that would have made La Lupe proud. “This ambition is killing me,” sings Peluso, her booming voice in full bloom.
“Corleone” is a somewhat disorienting opening track. Like most of Peluso’s music, it’s both edgy and comfortingly familiar; honest to the core, but with a thin layer of irony underneath.

It's a drizzly Thursday afternoon in New York City, and Nicki Nicole has spent most of her day answering back-to-back interview questions from journalists. For someone who just concluded a tour between Latin America and Europe, not to mention nine sold-out shows at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, where more than 100,000 fans were in attendance, you'd think she was ready to slow down. But hours before our conversation, she announced that her first US headlining tour would kick off next month in Mexico City. You can see the tunnel vision in her green eyes. Her fans, who have been by her side since day one, are what motivate her to keep going.

Plug in the MP3 — the plane’s about to take off. On Thursday, Emilia released the music video for “Jet_Set.mp3” featuring fellow Argentinian star Nathy Peluso as the two stars dance with knives and pose in office buildings.
“Collaborating with Nathy Peluso was a dream come true. It’s an important collaboration because Nathy represents the new generation of strong female artists who are pushing boundaries,” Emilia tells Rolling Stone. “We felt powerful, beautiful, and confident in this video, which is the message that I wanted to send with it.

Leading up to the Grammy nominations on Nov. 10, Rolling Stone is breaking down 16 different categories. For each, we’re predicting the nominees, as well as who will (and who should) win on Grammy night.

Christina Aguilera returned to the Latin Grammy Awards stage for a powerful performance with Mexican singer Christian Nodal. The pop superstar showed off her chops in the música Mexicana genre while the two artists performed their duet “Cuando Me Dé la Gana.”
The theme of the performance was seemingly inspired by West Side Story with Aguilera and Nodal performing “Cuando Me Dé la Gana ” on opposite sides of the stage. They were backed by a full mariachi band and Aguilera dug deep to deliver the heavy emotion behind the ballad.

I’ve discussed a couple of possible Latin Grammy winners for Album of the Year this year, but what about another general field category? Let’s look at the contenders for Record of the Year.
Alas, Pablo Alborán (“Castillos De Arena”), Camilo (“Pegao”), and Marc Anthony (“Pa’lla Voy”) are just here to fill up space. While Bad Bunny and Bomba Estéreo‘s “Ojitos Lindos” was a big hit and one of the best songs of the year, the academy has tended to shy away from rewarding Benito in the top categories, so I wouldn’t place it among the top contenders. Similarly, Shakira and Rauw Alejandro‘s “Te Felicito” was successful, but not the most successful here, and it isn’t as highly acclaimed as some of its rivals.

Bad Bunny leads the 2022 Latin Grammy Award nominations with 10 bids including Album of the Year (“Un Verano Sin Ti“) and Record of the Year (“Ojitos Lindos”), but can he finally win top honors from the academy? Scroll down for the complete list of contenders in all categories.

The Latin Recording Academy has been somewhat ambivalent about Bad Bunny, judging from his track record over the years. He has won four times, but only in urban genre categories. He lost his three previous Album of the Year bids (for “Yhlqmdlg” and “Oasis” in 2020 and “El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo” in 2021) and his previous Record of the Year nom (for “Vete” in 2020). However, Bad Bunny has emerged as the biggest crossover Latin star in the world. “Un Verano Sin Ti” has topped the all-genre, all-language Billboard 200 albums chart for 11 weeks, which is more than any album in six years.

For many years, the music business seemed to think that Latin artists needed to follow a stereotypical crossover path to get global attention. Major acts, such as Bad Bunny and Maluma, debunked that idea by becoming undeniable stars without changing their sound or style to fit into the Anglo pop world. But years before either artist came along, it was Romeo Santos — the dimpled bachata heartthrob known for his sky-grazing falsetto — who helped pave the way by refusing to give into the industry machine.

Trueno’s latest album, Bien o Mal, is a tribute to all of Latin America, filled with songs that detail the beauty, struggles, and pride found in every corner on the continent. But on “Argentina,” he takes a few moments to reflect on the country he comes from, and he enlists Argentinean singer Nathy Peluso for some vocal interplay. Watch the exclusive video premiere above.
The song draws on Argentina’s folk traditions, incorporating nylon guitars and a sample of the famed singer Atahualpa Yupanqui through a spare, hip hop-inspired beat.

The Gs have united: After lots of anticipation, Becky G and Karol G just dropped “Mamiii,” an empowered collaboration that feels like the two of them teaming up to celebrate each other — while flashing a giant middle finger at any man who’s ever crossed them.
Produced by the prolific Ovy on the Drums, the track opens up with the twang of Mexican-style guitars and a few gritos (screams) before a reggaeton beat kicks in. Becky G kicks the song off with a verse about shaking off a guy who’s broken her heart.

Let’s break down three of the top races.
SEE2022 Grammy predictions: Top 3 artists you shouldn’t underestimate for possible upsets Best Latin Pop Album
This award might be a tight race between American pop star/actress Selena Gomez and Colombian superstar Camilo. On one hand, this category does have its fair share of crossover winners like Ricky Martin, Bad Bunny, Shakira, and Marc Anthony, which helps Gomez a lot. Furthermore, she is very much in the public eye right now, doing promo for her new movie “Hotel Transylvania 4” as well as gaining awards buzz for her role in...

The 2022 Latin Grammys are coming on November 18, so let’s see which artists could be the biggest winners of the night.
Camilo
This Colombian singer-songwriter is already the biggest nominee this year, racking up 10 bids for both his own songs and others he co-wrote. Wins in pop are likely, with the very real possibility of him claiming both Best Pop Song and Best Pop Vocal Album. Furthermore, he could pick up a win for Best Urban/Fusion Performance for “Tattoo (Remix)” alongside Rauw Alejandro, and is also a sure bet to win Best Tropical Song for his work as a songwriter on “Dios Así Lo Quiso.” And there’s also a possibility of Camilo sweeping the general field, especially since he is double nominated for both Song and Record of the Year in addition to his Album of the Year bid for “Mis Manos.” So he may need help carrying...

The 2021 Latin Grammy nominations came with some expected nominees and pleasing surprises, and a lot of artists got key noms that could help them make history at these awards. Let’s take a look at five artists who could leave their mark in unprecedented ways.
SEEWhich albums have won the most Grammys? The biggest of all-time from Santana to Billie Eilish Camilo
Colombian pop superstar Camilo is the biggest nominee this year with 10. Among these are five general field nominations: “Vida de Rico” for Record and Song of the Year and its parent album “Mis Manos” for Album of the Year. He also has two additional noms for his work on “Amén” and “Dios Así Lo Quiso,” both by his father-in-law Ricardo Montaner. If Camilo manages to win the three general categories on one night, he’ll become the first artist to pull this off since 2011, when Calle 13 swept the Grammys.

The Latin Grammy Awards, not to be confused with the Latin categories at the regular Grammys, honor the best music in the Latin-sphere, with contenders in both Spanish and Portuguese being eligible. This year in particular we have a lot of contenders, from big English-market crossovers to critically acclaimed gems. Let’s take a look at who could score big.
Massive crossover stars typically get recognized, so expect to see names like Bad Bunny and Kali Uchis come nominations day. The former has smashed this year with his hit song “Dákiti” featuring Jhay Cortez peaking at number-five on the Billboard Hot 100, which is rare for a Latin song. It also dominated the Hot Latin Songs chart and the Latin Airplay chart, as well as climbing high on the Rhythmic and Top 40 charts. Its parent album, “El Último Tour del Mundo,” is probably a lock for an Album of the Year...

Pilar Palomero’s “Schoolgirls” (“Las Niñas”), a coming-of-age story and generational portrait of Spanish women who would now be in their 40s, swept an extraordinary and admirable 35th edition of Spain’s Goya Awards on Saturday, scooping best picture, new director, original screenplay and cinematography.
Salvador Calvo won best director for the three-part, Africa-set drama “Adú,” a Netflix pick-up produced by Telecinco Cinema, Ikiru Films and La Terraza Films that proved one of Spain’s biggest box office hits of last year, earning €6.3 million ($7.6 million) at the Spanish box office, promoted to the hilt by Telecinco Cinema parent Mediaset España.
Marking a milestone in his transition from Spanish heartthrob to character actor, Mario Casas won best actor for “No Matarás.” Patricia López Arnaíz took best actress for her role in “Ane is Missing,” a confident mother-daughter relationship drama-thriller melding psychological observation and social critique, set against the background of high-speed train construction in a 2009 Bilbao.
