Paul Di’Anno Dead at 66: He Would be Proud of Iron Maiden for Raising Awareness on a Major Disease Before His Death
Image
Paul Di’Anno was a legend in many ways. Iron Maiden started with his hand in the mix, being the lead singer on the first two albums of the band. Although he left soon after, being a part of the band from 1978 to 1981, and was replaced by Bruce Dickinson, that does not mean that his impact on the music industry was any less significant.

Heading several other bands in the years since then, like Killers and Battlezone. He also had an impactful solo career and changed lives, both through his music and the concerts that he played them at. With all that he was able to accomplish in his life, it is safe to say that his fans are heartbroken at his sudden passing.

Iron Maiden drummer Nicko Mc Brian on the mend after massive stroke
Image
London, August 4 (Ians) Iron Maiden drummer Nicko ‘Mc Brian has now begun recovering from a massive stroke which made him unable to play drums for months, ahead of the heavy metal legends rehearsing for their new tour.

The 71-year old drum legend had begun fearing that his career may get over after he lost movement on the right side of his body in January.

Taking to the Iron Maiden social media handle, the drummer said in a video statement: “The reason I’m writing to you all today is to let you know of a very serious health problem that I have been through. In January I had a stroke, thank the Lord it was a minor one referred to as a Tia. It left me paralysed. With the love and support from my wife, Rebecca and family, my doctors, especially Julie, my Ot (Occupational Therapist), and my Maiden family...

Lars Ulrich on Being Called a “Genius” by Gojira’s Mario Duplantier: “The Goal Has Never Been Genius”
Image
Back in 2021, Gojira drummer Mario Duplantier came to the defense of the oft-criticized Lars Ulrich, praising the Metallica drummer as a “genius” for his showmanship and rock-solid presence behind the kit.

Duplantier doubled down on that sentiment in another interview this year, saying, “We need to bring some justice for [Ulrich] … I’m a bit tired of seeing all this conversation about Lars because what he did create is quite unique. Listen to …And Justice for All. It’s amazing.”

While speaking with Ulrich for Consequence’s just-published Metallica cover story, we asked him what he thought about Duplantier calling him a “genius,” and the Metallica drummer opened up on his larger philosophy as a musician. For Ulrich, it’s never been about flexing skill.

“The goal has never been genius,” Ulrich said. “If there’s one constant, it’s certainly not landing in the place of genius; it’s...
