Ron Kahlon is an Australian Film Director and Writer of Indian origin from Melbourne, Australia. He is known for his award winning short film The Untold. The Untold is streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar.
Ron Kahlon also known as Ranjeet SIngh Kahlon was born in India. Ron's childhood was spent growing up in various places around India as his father was an Indian Army Officer. The exposure to diverse communities and cultures and the stories that came with it, including his own experiences, inculcated in him the passion for creative storytelling. The coinciding rise of Indian cinema and the introduction of colored televisions in homes only fueled his dreams further.
However, after the sudden demise of his father when he was only in year 16, his dreams took a sudden halt. His studies at the National School of Dramatic Arts in New Delhi was left incomplete as his priorities shifted to supporting his family. He took up a call centre job and enrolled in Delhi university to complete his Bachelors. He none the less found ways to stay in touch with his creative side by working as a part time advertising assistant in an agency and updating on filmmaking knowledge and skills by self-study.
To grow further professionally, Ron moved to Australia where he studied film direction from Australian Film Television and Radio School Sydney, Australia. During the span of 7 years in Australia, he worked on various Australian productions in the creative and camera department.
Ron started his filmmaker journey by directing a music video titled Russian Gun in year 2019. He later also worked on projects like Door (music video) and The Seashell (film) as a director. In 2020, Ron co-wrote and directed The Untold. It is 12-minute film which explores journey of a guilt-ridden girl where karma meets her full circle. The film is available on video on demand platforms like Disney plus Hotstar, Mx Player, Hungama play.
Ron is currently completing an attachment on a Feature film "My Melbourne" which is funded by Screen Victoria. He is also in the development of a horror feature film 'Permanence' which is being produced by a local production house.
