The second season of Apple TV+’s Silo is already proving to be another impressive addition to the sci-fi drama series. However, audiences may not have been quite as invested in the series’ return if the original structure of the latest season had not been changed by showrunner Graham Yost and his team. While speaking to CinemaBlend, Yost explained that one plan would have forced audiences to wait several episodes to see how some storylines progressed, which he realized would be massively “frustrating” for viewers.
Decisions about the structure of movies and TV shows can ultimately decide how successful a project is. In the case of Silo, Yost considered an alternating episode format for Season 2, dedicating individual episodes to separate storylines. This would have resulted in one thread following Juliette Nichols’ ( Rebecca Ferguson) journey in Silo 17, while the other would focus on the political and social dynamics continuing to unfold in Silo 18. However,...

An Apple TV+ show shares many similarities with Lost but already avoids one big mistake that weighed down the classic ABC mystery series. Airing from 2004 to 2010, Lost is still one of the most memorable TV shows from the mid-aughts, known for its immersive serialized storytelling and expansive world-building. In its runtime of 121 episodes, the show adopted many intriguing narrative devices and took many risks to cement itself as one of the most innovative and important television shows of the 21st century.
However, despite having a solid run for six seasons, Lost also garnered a fair share of criticism. The ABC show still boasts an average Rotten Tomatoes critics score of 84% across all seasons. However, after watching Lost over 20 years after its release, it is hard not to notice many massive flaws in its narrative choices and story developments. Irrespective of what ideology the mass subscribes to, what their perceived notion of truth might be, or how much freedom they might think they have, authority always controls the narrative. For a confined hell like the silo, where a single piece of information can result in harrowing repercussions through violent unrest, as seen in the first episode of the ongoing season of Silo, the assessment proves to be truer than ever. In the first episode, Juliette’s struggle for survival by venturing into a neighboring silo 17 came into narrative focus. As it was revealed, the quest for truth resulted in a vicious civil war that resulted in death if most of the silo 17 denizens and the surviving populace ventured outside, where they met their gruesome end almost instantly. Previously, Juliette’s point of view guided viewers into the second season, and this time the current episode shows the other side...

Don’t look under the rug, because you might find more than dust? Well, Silo is kind of like that—except the rug is a massive underground bunker, and under it, you’ll find a whole lot more than dust… more like buried secrets, broken dreams, and a cleaning process. And it is less about wiping down counters and more about sweeping up inconvenient truths.

And speaking of sweeping things under the rug, let’s talk about the cleaning. No, not the kind you do before your mother-in-law visits. Silo’s cleaning is a whole different beast. It’s like the universe’s most twisted version of spring cleaning—except it’s not your house that gets scrubbed. It’s people. And the only dust they’re removing is truth.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episodes 1-3!Silo season 2, episode 3, "Solo," provides clues to suggest that Juliette Nichols and the installment's title character are not alone in Silo 17, but there could be another explanation to account for these teases. Although Steve Zahn's Solo has been part of the Silo cast since the current season's premiere, his emergence from the vault at the end of Silo season 2, episode 3, is the first time the character has been fully shown. Now that Rebecca Ferguson's character has a more solid companion, the story can turn to whether or not they have unknown company too.

In Apple TV+'s Silo, where most of the world's population has perished and the rest remain in an underground silo, most newcomers aren't exactly strangers. The exception is Steve Zahn's Solo, a reclusive man living in Silo 17 who Juliette meets on her journey outside Silo 18 in Season 2. Silo hasn't yet revealed much about Solo, keeping his storyline and importance to Juliette's journey a secret. But his one and only line in the official trailer is enough to show he's not a man to be crossed: "You try to open the door again, and I'm gonna kill you."
According to Zahn, Solo is very similar to another character of his that represented vulnerability: Bad Ape from War of the Planet of the Apes. That alone speaks volumes about the type of character Solo is, but Zahn also adds originality to Solo's character that people have never seen before. Talking to Cbr,...

The best scene in all of Silo Season 2 Episode 3 is the opening.
Rebecca Ferguson plays the flustered, confused, processing mind to a T. It’s difficult to sit down and contemplate what life would be like to know so little.
Everything is a staggering revelation, and watching Juliette struggle to understand simple concepts, like the number of Silos and the notion of a Sun. Judge Meadows sums it up the best, only a few scenes later:
“I’m not saying it’ll be easy. It might be like trying to think of a color that you’ve never seen.”
(Apple TV+)
In fact, that sums up nearly everyone in the Silo, even Bernard Holland, to a degree and, by extension, the audience. Shows like this make it difficult for consumers of Hugh Howey’s work, like myself, to bite their tongues.

The third episode of AppleTV+’s latest sci-fi show sees a rebellion bubbling underneath. Here’s our Silo season 2 episode 3 review.
Juliette is back! Or, technically, we’re back with Juliette in the third episode of Silo season 2. As I mentioned in last week’s review, episodes 1 and 2 almost acted as a two-part opener for the season and now that we’ve had our update with the original Silo, we’re back with our heroine.
As you’ll remember, episode 1 ended with Juliette finding silo 17’s vault and a strange man inside it threatening to kill her. Trying to make friends with the man, Solo (played by Steve Zahn), Juliette asks about what happened to the other people in silo 17. Solo, who got his name just as simply as you think, explains that the people decided to leave and at first, things seemed to be okay. Judging by the bodies though,...

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Silo season 2 and Hugh Howey's Silo books.
After Silo season 2 introduces Solo as the sole survivor in Silo 17, it becomes hard not to wonder what role he played in his Silo when his people were still around. Silo season 1 only revolves around the people inside Silo 18, gradually leading up to the events of Juliette's departure towards the end. Kicking off where Silo season 1 ends, season 2 marks the inception of a new adventure for Juliette, where she enters a new neighboring Silo after crossing a long trail of corpses.
Juliette initially assumes that the neighboring Silo is empty because of the massive number of dead bodies she finds at its entrance. However, to her surprise, as soon as she arrives close to a vault in the Silo, she meets a man who threatens to kill her. Although the man gradually warms up to...

Warning! This article contains major spoilers for Silo season 2 and details surrounding Solo from Hugh Howey's Silo books.
Solo seems to have spent many years in the vault in Silo 17, but Apple TV+'s Silo season 2 initially seems to maintain an air of ambiguity surrounding how long he has truly been there. Although Steven Zahn's Solo was not a part of Silo season 1's story, he has instantly become one of the most intriguing characters of the series. One of the biggest reasons Solo's introduction in the Apple TV+ sci-fi show has been so compelling is that Steve Zahn perfectly captures how living in isolation for an unimaginably long time has impacted the character.
With his acting forte, Zahn portrays how Solo has grown both paranoid and vulnerable after spending years, if not decades, behind Silo 17's vault. However, even though Zahn's embodiment of the Silo season 2 character...

Quick Links Who Died in The Silo? What to Remember About Terry Cooper From 'Silo' Season 1 Where Else Have You Seen Matt Gomez Hidaka?
In Silo Season 2, it’s all about rebellion. After Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) went outside at the end of Season 1, the residents of the silo were in shock. She refused to clean, the ritualistic act of cleaning the camera lens before walking a few steps only to perish. Instead, she held the cloth up and dropped it to the ground. She continued on, taking step after step. When she went over the hill and was out of view, residents were in disbelief. Did she survive? If so, does this mean they could survive? Has everything they have been told and seen of the post-apocalyptic world all been a lie?
As the various factions within the silo butt heads in the aftermath, there are bound to be casualties.

"The cleaning" is an essential driver of many stories in Apple TV+'s Silo, but the show has only subtly hinted at its true purpose and origins. Silo season 1 defied all expectations in its opening episodes when it introduced Holston and Allison as its main characters but killed them off before audiences could learn more about them. Season 2 of Silo is just getting started on its rebellion. Following its debut episode in mid-November, Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson), a former engineer at Silo 18, causes massive panic and bewilderment when she survives being outside in the barren wasteland, where the air is presumably toxic. As Juliette searches for any signs of life in the nearest Silo, her former underground home is in shambles as its tyrannical leader Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins), and his fellow Judicial cronies extend their power over its inhabitants to prevent any unwanted uprising.

The more you lie to people, the more the lies unravel. That’s something Bernard needs to deal with in Silo season 2 episode 3. Meanwhile, Juliette just needs some answers.
Caution: This post contains Spoilers from Silo season 2 episode 3
We see in dystopian worlds that as leaders try to hold onto power, they end up causing a rebellion to happen. Bernard knows this is the case. The problem is the world that has been set up within the silo makes it impossible for him to share the truth.
It’s clear that he knows more than he is letting on. Judge Meadows also knows more considering she was once his shadow. She wishes she could forget that—and it does make me wonder why she hasn’t taken this memory loss pill that Sims mentions in the episode. I guess while she wants to forget, there’s a lot that she wants to remember.

The third episode of Apple TV+'s sci-fi show Silo is out now, and it's a doozy. The first season ended with a huge shake-up as Sheriff Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) left the titular undergound Silo and set out into the wider world, only to discover that it was a wasteland. By necessity, season 2 has had to take a lot of time to re-establish the chess board following those events. The first episode, "The Engineer," was all about Juliette's journey into a neighboring Silo, where she found the last survivor of a rebellion that caused the deaths of thousands. The second, "Order," caught us up with everyone Juliette left behind, showing how her home Silo was turning into a powder keg as people demanded answers and the powers-that-be manipulated events to keep things calm.
In "Solo," Silo is finally able to represent all these plotlines and more onscreen in one episode.

Murder in a Small Town ended Season 1 by solving its latest murder mystery but started character arcs for almost every main character.
That was smart, leaving the door open for a potential Season 2. We talked to executive producer Jeff Wachtel, an expert on blue-sky procedurals since he’s helmed many like Monk and Suits.
Wachtel shared his thoughts on the best of Murder in a Small Town Season 1, including Karl and Cassandra’s relationship and James Cromwell’s performance as George Wilcox.
(Kailey Schwerman/ Fox)
He also discussed the challenges of adapting a long-running book series to television, casting guest stars, and some teasers for a potential Season 2.
Check out the interview below.
The finale ended by solving the murders but left a few stories open for the main characters. What are the chances of a second season?
It’s from your lips. The ratings have been excellent and on the upswing.

It’s basic human nature to yearn for the impossible. And the funny thing is, we want it even more if someone else has achieved it, because you see, it’s not impossible anymore. The third episode of Silo season 2 explores the extent of human desire and how far we are willing to go to achieve it. In the previous episode, Judge Mary Meadows, like many other folks inside the Silo, believed that Juliette Nichols not only survived the cleaning but also got a chance to see the outside world. I am not sure if jealousy is the right word, but Meadows really wants what Jules has already achieved. And it’s not just her; even Shirley and the rest of the folks inside the Silo have started to entertain the thought that It and Judicial have been keeping them prisoner inside the metallic structure, and the only way to...

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Silo season 2.Judge Meadows has risen in the ranks to become one of the leading characters in Silo season 2's early episodes, raising many questions surrounding her history with Bernard and role in the overarching story. Since Silo season 1 is based on Hugh Howey's book series of the same name, it is always surprising when the show drifts away from the source material and adopts an original narrative. One of the biggest deviations from the source material in Silo season 2 revolves around Judge Mary Meadows.
The original books barely focus on the Judicial, which makes characters like Meadows minor players in the grand scheme. However, since season 1, Apple TV+'s Silo has been emphasizing Meadows' characterization far more than the Hugh Howey novels. After the events from Silo season 1's ending, Judge Meadows has become even more important in season 2, making her one...

Silo season 2's episode 3 raises many questions about Bernard's long-term plan to extinguish the rebellion, Meadows' underlying motives, and Solo's history in Silo 17. While the episode avoids answering many questions, it perfectly paves the way for a gripping season. Instead of following the first two episodes' format, Silo season 2's episode 3 goes back and forth between the two central overarching stories. While Juliette's side of the narrative focuses on developing her relationship with Solo, Bernard's arc highlights how he grows increasingly worried about the future of Silo 18.
Unlike Silo season 2's episodes 1 and 2, episode 3 leaves a lot to unpack and finally gives Steven Zahn's character, Solo, a proper introduction. By highlighting how characters like Dr. Nichols are also starting to defy the rules of the Silo, Silo season 2's episode 3 gives a glimpse of how the seeds of...

The Irrational Season 2 Episode 6 wasn’t your usual murder mystery, and that’s okay.
Instead of trying to find out who killed the victim of the week, Alec worked with a data expert to try to stop a train disaster.
The case resembled those math problems where you have to calculate how soon two trains coming from opposite ends of the country will pass each other, so it didn’t really seem like an FBI case, though it was interesting anyway.
(NBC/James Dittiger) Alec Called The FBI Instead Of Them Calling Him
Marisa and Kylie’s involvement was almost an afterthought.
The story on The Irrational Season 2 Episode 6 was mostly about Alec working with this woman who believed that using data to predict disasters was like traveling in time and wanted his help preventing a projected train accident.

It seems Accused just delivered a triumph for domestic violence survivors, even if it was more fantasy than reality.
Keeping up with the theme of up and down installments to Accused Season 2 Episode 6 was a reasonably solid installment compared to its predecessor, Accused Season 2 Episode 5.
There was a focus on mutual trauma and a shared sisterhood between two unlikely individuals.
(Courtesy of Fox)
You can never go wrong with Cobie Smulders, and her portrayal of Val felt tailor-made for an actress who is adept at portraying wonderfully complex, flawed, and occasional hot mess characters.
In this case, Val wasn’t so much a “hot mess” as she was a domestic abuse survivor and single mother who was trying to get by while taking care of her son and ensuring that he would never end up like his father.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episodes 1 & 2!Although I'm enjoying Silo season 2, I can't help but miss the best part of what I loved so much about the first run of episodes from 2023. Despite the Silo cast remaining largely unchanged, the show isn't quite grabbing me as much as it once did. While it's great the characters have remained in place, I can't help but feeling that Apple TV+ has been unable to recapture the magic of one specific storyline. Hopefully, the end of Silo season 1 won't come back to haunt the show's future potential.
Although Apple TV+'s Silo adaptation has made several changes to the Hugh Howey books, the overall story has remained largely the same. So, I suppose the show was always destined to take the direction it has. Regardless, I remember watching Silo season 1 with the immediate opinion that it was one of the best from...

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Silo season 2.A close look at Silo season 2's reference to a 124-year-old story reveals that it might be foreshadowing how Juliette's journey ends in the Apple TV+ series. Unlike Silo season 1, which follows a linear story that unfolds inside Silo 18, the Apple TV+ sci-fi show's season 2 walks through two simultaneous narratives. While one focuses on Juliette's story outside her home, the other shows how her exit has impacted the people of Silo 18. Both narratives are compelling in their own ways and perfectly intertwined with one another.
From inside the Silo, Bernard grows increasingly worried about a brewing rebellion after Juliette's departure. Meanwhile, from the outside, Juliette gets scared that her people will take some drastic measures and leave Silo 18 without protective gear to follow her. Warning: Spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episode 1, "The Engineer."Apple TV+'s Silo is filled with little teases that suggest what will happen in the coming episodes while also compounding recent events, and season 2's premiere includes a music moment that ticks both boxes. Beginning immediately after the events of Silo season 1's ending, Silo season 2, episode 1, "The Engineer," also leaves things open-ended, but not all that unclear either.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Silo season 2, episode 1.Silo season 2's episode 1 seems to miss the perfect opportunity to pay off one important moment from Juliette's story in season 1. Created by Graham Yost, Apple TV+'s Silo adapts Hugh Howey's Silo book series. While the show stays true to the essence of the source material's storyline and accurately captures most of its story beats and themes, it does not shy away from introducing some of its own original elements. The show's season 2 continues this approach by etching its own identity while still honoring the world created by Hugh Howey in the original books.
Setting the tone for future episodes, Silo season 2's opening episode goes back and forth between timelines. While its present timeline walks through Juliette's new adventure outside Silo 18, the past timelines present flashbacks that give a glimpse of Juliette's childhood and a new Silo's destructive history.

Martha (Harriet Walter) and Carla (Clare Perkins) didn’t share the screen much during Silo Season 1, but they’ll have a lot of scenes together during Season 2.
Of course, the big hurdle between them during the freshman season was that Martha had not left her workstation for years.
The former lovers only crossed paths again because Martha plucked up the courage to travel higher up the Silo in the name of saving Juliette’s (Rebecca Ferguson) life.
Now that Juliette has left the Silo, all eyes will be on how she managed to survive the outside world, which could cause a lot of problems for everyone who knows her.

Silo Season 2 finally premiered on Apple TV+ earlier this week, and the debut was a fantastic one-woman show as Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) walked into the unknown after leaving Silo 18 behind.
Understandably, Juliette’s departure will leave the residents of her former Silo with many questions because she’s the only person to leave and not clean like the various people before her.
Of course, viewers are well aware that Juliette has now arrived in an abandoned Silo and is immersed in another battle for survival as she ponders whether there is some validity to the reasons for keeping everyone locked away from civilization.
As a result of the season premiere’s decision to focus purely on Juliette, the majority of the main cast won’t get some screen time until Silo Season 2 Episode 2, which airs next week.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Silo season 2, episode 1, "The Engineer."Apple TV+'s Silo engages in some very compelling forms of worldbuilding tied to its post-apocalyptic setting, including how and why Rebecca Ferguson's Juliette Nichols was the only character able to withstand the unforgiving environment of the outside world. As the leader of the Silo cast, Ferguson's character has led the investigation into why the last remaining groups of humanity have been confined to the mysterious structures in which they reside. Although it is possible to go outside, every character who has left the Silo before Juliette has perished very shortly after.
Silo season 2 picks up directly after the end of Silo season 1, proving that Juliette's survival in the outside world was far more than just a fluky few moments. Juliette's discovery of another Silo forms the foundation of the story in the season 2 premiere. Although she takes refuge in the new structure,...

As a massive reveal, a number of neighboring Silos were seen located in close proximity of each other, which raises inevitable questions as to what kind of life denizens...

Warning: Huge spoilers ahead for the Silo season 2 premiere!Silo season 2, episode 1, "The Engineer," begins with Rebecca Ferguson's Juliette Nichols entering a structure identical to the one she once called home, and although the episode does provide an explanation about what happened there, the sequence that addresses the devastation is brief. With the installment's present-day sequences taking place immediately after the ending of Silo season 1, the Apple TV+ dystopian sci-fi show continues Juliette's story without missing a single second. While she may be free from the tyranny of her former superiors, her adventure is far from over.
A live-action adaptation of Hugh Howey's novels, Apple TV+ changes several aspects of Silo's literary source material. However, the overall story remains largely the same. As the leader of the Silo cast, Ferguson returns in season 2 as the saga's main protagonist. Although she gives a great physical performance in "The Engineer,...
