NEW YORK - ThinkFilm will bring Ellen Page's pre-Juno star turn in the drama The Tracey Fragments to U.S. theaters this May.
Page plays Tracey, a depressed teen on a search to find her missing younger brother. Bruce McDonald's unconventional drama uses multiple split-screen images and a non-linear narrative to convey her thoughts.
The film is nominated for six awards at next month's top Canadian ceremony, the Genies, including best actress for Page. It won the Manfred Salzgeber Panorama Jury Prize, for a film that "broadens the boundaries of cinema," at last year's Berlin fest.
ThinkFilm, which picked up all domestic rights to Fragments, will release the film in New York May 9, followed by a platform theatrical rollout. It debuts in the city Mar. 14 at the Museum of Modern Art's fifth annual Canadian Front series.
