Ali Aksoy was born on November 21, 1991 in Mersin. He grew up in Ulas and Ayvagedigi towns of Mersin. He completed his primary education at Capar Ayvagedigi Primary School. After completing the first year of his high school education at Gozne Multi-Program High School, he transferred to Nihal Erdem Trade Vocational High School. He graduated from the Computer Programming department in 2009. After working in the field of Information Technologies for 7 years, he became interested in screenwriting. Therefore, he took screenwriting training from director Erhan Tuncer and acting training from Irem Altug at Istanbul Sinematek. During this course, the idea of pursuing an academic career in cinema was born. In the 2016-2017 academic year, she started her undergraduate education at Cankiri Karatekin University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Cinema and Television.
He started filmmaking in 2017 as an assistant to documentary film director Dr. Lecturer Tunc Boran. His first film project was Tunc Boran's short film Missing(2018). Before making his first film, Walnut (2020), he worked as a screenwriter, cinematographer, camera operator and film editor in school projects. In 2019, he made his directorial debut with two friends in the short film Z (2019). Again in 2019, he worked as the director of photography in the short film Anormal (2019) directed by Tunc Boran. In the same period, he wrote and directed his first short film Walnut (2020).
