On Aug. 12, Dwyane Wade's incredible basketball career was immortalized as he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Ma, with his family by his side. The retired NBA player had plenty of support thanks to his wife, Gabrielle Union; his kids Zaya Wade, Zaire Wade, Kaavia James, and Dahveon Morris; and his nephew, for whom he is a legal guardian. Zaya Wade has been granted a legal name and gender change.

As per legal documents obtained by E! News, the 15-year-old daughter of Dwyane Wade and his ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, was granted the personal changes by a Los Angeles Court.

Following Zaya’s coming out as transgender in 2020, the retired NBA star supported his daughter by petitioning the court last August to legally change her name and gender.

Months later, in November 2022, Zaya’s mother asked the judge to reject Dwayne’s request upon filing her own papers.

“I have concerns that [Dwyane] may be pressuring our child to move forward with the name and gender change in order to capitalize on the financial opportunities that he has received from companies,” Siohvaughn wrote in the legal docs, “and will receive based upon [Dwyane’s] statements to me,...

Kaavia James and Gabrielle Union sent Dwyane Wade a heartwarming birthday message while he was miles away from home. Dwyane Wade has slammed his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches-Wade’s claims made in her recent legal filing regarding their 15-year-old daughter Zaya Wade’s name and gender.

In docs obtained by E! News, Siohvaughn asked a California court to deny Dwyane’s request to legally change Zaya’s name, suggesting the teen wait to decide “at the age of majority” if she wants to move forward with it.

The legal papers accused Dwyane of “pressuring” Zaya, who came out as transgender in 2020 at age 12, into moving forward with the name and gender change “to capitalize on the financial opportunities that he has received from companies.”

That’s the reality for Zaire Wade, Dwyane’s eldest son, who was drafted last October by the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA G League. Zaire, who turns 20 on Friday, has got some skills like his father, who just turned 40.

Comcast’s NBCUniversal is looking to add some Vudu into its streaming-video mix.

The media conglomerate is in talks to buy Vudu, the Walmart-owned entertainment rental, download and free-streaming service, sources confirm to Variety. It’s unclear what the terms of the pact would be or the timing. News of NBCU’s interest in Vudu was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

The speculation is that NBCU would merge Vudu with Fandango Now, the online-video transaction site that’s part of ticketing service Fandango (after it bought M-Go in 2016). It would boost NBCU’s digital-video presence as it preps the launch of Peacock, a streaming service that will have a hybrid free and paid model, stocked with originals, licensed content and library programming (including the full run of “The Office”).

NBCU declined to comment.
