The Orbisons are no strangers to dark days: the singing legend’s first wife, Claudette, was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1966, and two years later, two of their sons died in a fire. Orbison himself was only 52 when he died in 1988.
So when Roy Orbison Jr. found himself sitting in a park visiting Stockholm, Sweden, in 2013, two years after losing his mother Barbara to pancreatic cancer, “I was very alone in life,” he tells People. And then he met Asa Hallgren “and I went from the darkness to the light,” he says. “Life has been bright and sunny ever since.

An official biopic of Roy Orbison has been confirmed...
Roy Orbison’s estate will cooperate with The Big O, a new biopic based on the life of the man who wrote 'Pretty Woman', 'Running Scared', 'In Dreams' and 'Only the Lonely'.
Roy Orbison was made for movies. That pallor. Those sunglasses. David Lynch saw it and Dennis Hopper channeled it. Roy Orbison was a mystery man, who never showed his eyes after losing his wife Claudette, who haunted his songs. Actually, Roy lost his regular, Buddy Holly style glasses on a tour bus with the Beatles when they opened for him in the UK. He kept both the shades and his friendship with George Harrison. They even formed a band together with Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne.
The biopic The Big O will be written by Ray Gideon and Bruce Evans,...

Barbara Orbison, the widow of rock great Roy Orbison, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 6) from pancreatic cancer. She was just 60 years old.
In a strange bit of irony, Barbara Orbison's death comes 23 years to the day that her husband died. The "Oh, Pretty Woman" singer passed away in 1988 just as he was beginning a musical comeback. He was only 52 when he died of a heart attack.
Orbison had been fighting her condition for a while and had been hospitalized since May.
Since her husband's passing, Barbara remained active in the music industry. Her music publishing company recently earned Bmi's 2010 Song of the Year for Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me".
Barbara Orbison is survived by sons Wesley Orbison, 46, Roy Kelton Orbison, Jr., 41 and Alexander Orbison, 36.

HollywoodNews.com: Stop the presses: None other than Prince, dressed like Little Lord Fauntleroy, introduced Barbra Streisand last night at her MusiCares Person of the Year dinner at the La Convention Center. He’d been sitting quietly to the side most of the evening, although at one point he did mildly greet Elvis Costello and his wife Diana Krall, in a sea of 2500 music industry types and stars. This means Prince and Costello sat through a three hour plus evening of performances you might noe associate with their ilk- from the sublime (Leona Lewis) to the sensational (Stevie Wonder).
But then again, so did real legends like Sidney Poitier, Quincy Jones, Sam Moore, and Judy Collins, and a legend who stole the entire show–Tony Bennett, 83, and the master.
At Streisand’s table, her inner circle– husband James Brolin, son Jason Gould, songwriter lyricists Marilyn and Alan Bergman.

hollywoodnews.com: What a night for Ringo Starr: Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono put aside their usual differences and surprised the ex Beatle on stage at Radio City Music Hall for his 70th birthday on Wednesday night.
McCartney was a total surprise to Starr–he appeared at the end of show, strapped on a guitar and launched Ringo’s band into the Beatles’ “Birthday.” It was historic since the Fab Four never played the song live anywhere. Tonight, Ringo played drums and Radio City was like Shea Stadium in 1966. McCartney was spot-on, too. Brilliant.
Just before that, Ringo had been celebrated by a raft of stars and musicians at the end of “With A Little Help from My Friends,” his Beatles signature song. Suddenly on stage was Yoko Ono, looking grand in a white hat, and boogeying like she was half her age. At one point,...

Call it Toronto: Next Gen.
This year's crop of Toronto films feature a high number of features directed by the progenies of famous directors and other high profile parents.
Some, like Jason Reitman, whose "Up in the Air" is one its way to being one of the fest's more popular selections, are already well down their career paths. Drew Barrymore, established as an actress and producer, is taking a dip in the directing pool with her debut "Whip It!"
Then, there are also those making their first steps into the feature film world.
Jordan Scott, the daughter of director Ridley Scott, is showing off her directorial debut "Cracks," described as a "Lord of the Flies" set in an elite British boarding school during the 1930s. (Ridley Scott, in town to support his daughter, found himself besieged by industry well-wishers at the lobby of the Four Seasons at one point on Friday.
