There is this misconception that World Wrestling Entertainment’s Attitude Era introduced wrestling fans to hot women, like never before in the long and illustrious history of sports-entertainment had an attractive woman ever appeared on-screen. That could not be further from the truth. Sure, no one prior to the attitude injection was near as hot or sexual as the women that starred in the late 1990s but they were certainly beautiful and sultry, with a splash of class that those later in WWE history simply did not represent.
From Wendi Richter and the Rock and Wrestling Era to Sunny and the New Generation, they were women that were equally as successful as many of their male counterparts. Some even became household names and one emerged as a major merchandise mover. A major reason for that? The undeniable appeal of a beautiful woman.

Brock Lesnar ending the Undertaker’s winning streak at Wrestlemania 30 and Cesaro’s climb to even greater renown in WWE both share one man in common – Paul Heyman. Moreso than any other member of the active roster, Heyman’s unique ability to garner heat for performers in the role of manager is possibly one of the least discussed – yet most important roles that any on-screen character has in the company. Key to Heyman’s presentation of late is his proclamation that he is the greatest manager in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment.
As a heel, his audacious claim is meant to be the pomposity that leads to a cascade of boos. However, if studying the art of pro wrestling, is there truth to Heyman’s bold statement? In the annals of WWE’s history of ringside seconds, managers and generally conniving men and women patrolling ringside, is...

Being included in World Wrestling Entertainment’s Hall of Fame is one of the greatest honors one can achieve in the world of Professional Wrestling. While the legitimacy and seriousness of induction into the Hall of Fame has been debated by many, there is no denying the magnitude of being known as a WWE Hall of Famer.
While the chances of being inducted are slim, the chances of being a female and inducted are even slimmer. While there are routinely six (or more) inductees in any given year, the Hall of Fame classes are generally male-dominated and sometimes the women are completely overlooked.
While Lita, Trish Stratus, Sunny, Johnnie Mae Young, Wendi Richter, “Sensational” Sherri Martel, and “The Fabulous” Moolah most definitely deserve recognition and acclaim for their contributions, there are plenty of women who also deserve their due.
Some should have been inducted before the likes of Sunny,...

We are now one week away from the 29th edition of Wrestlemania – the biggest and grandest PPV in the history of the wrestling industry. For almost three decades Wrestlemania has been the scene of some of wrestling’s greatest feuds and most memorable moments. Stars have been made and careers etched in the annals of time. But as big as it has become the original Wrestlemania was far from being “The Grandest Stage of ‘em all” as it has become know. It wasn’t even given full national PPV exposure! Unbelievable when you think of how huge the event is today.

Cyndi Lauper returned to the WWE and made a instant impact to the WWE Universe. Wait till you see what happened! Singer, songwriter and actress Cyndi Lauper came back to the WWE with a guest appearance on USA's Monday Night Raw from Nassau Coliseum in New York, N.Y. on June 18. It was as if she never left as she was getting into it with WWE Superstar Heath Slater! Cyndi, who in some circles is best known for her time in the WWE, based of course on her memorable appearance at WrestleMania I standing in Hall of Famer Wendi Richter’s corner and serving as her manager. Wendi even utilized Cyndi’s mega hit “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” as her entrance music. In addition, many may remember Capitan Lou Albano’s cameo in Cyndi’s video for the nostalgic female anthem. Cyndi Lauper who burst onto the world...

Captain Lou Albano was a legendary wrestling manager at the forefront when the WWF (now WWE) initiated the Rock `n’ Wrestling storyline in the mid-1980s. Sporting an unwieldy beard, accented by rubber bands and the occasional paperclip, his storyline feud with pop star Cyndi Lauper helped propel wrestling into mainstream popularity. Albano also appeared with Lauper in her music video for Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and in her contribution to the soundtrack of the 1985 film The Goonies. Lauper’s video, Goonies `R’ good enough for me, also featured cameos from wrestlers Rowdy Roddy Piper, the Iron Sheik, Freddie Blassie, and Steven Spielberg.
Albano was born in Rome, Italy, on July 29, 1933, and came to the United States with his family as a child. He began his wrestling career in Montreal, Canada, in 1953. He later teamed with Tony Altimore to portray a villainous pair of wrestling gangsters known as the Sicilians,...

The entertainment world is mourning the loss of Captain Lou Albano, one of the most charismatic people ever to step into a wrestling ring. Albano became a household name during the rise of the WWF in the early 1980s, as his professional relationship with Cyndi Lauper put him on television outside of wrestling events. But he not only brought wrestling to the people, but he also brought people to wrestling. Case in point: The WWF (now WWE) used to have a pretty regular working relationship with MTV. The network hosted a number of original shows (including "WWE Tough Enough" and "Sunday Night Heat"), and back in the original Wrestlemania era, MTV actually aired live wrestling events, both of which involved Albano and Lauper.
The first event, "The Brawl to End It All," aired in 1984 and featured a Women's Championship match between Wendi Richter and the Fabulous Moolah. The show was...

Professional-wrestling fans the world over are mourning the passing of Captain Lou Albano. Though he was beloved among wrestling fans as an in-ring entertainer in various roles as a wrestler, manager and announcer, his main claim to crossover fame was as an ambassador who bridged the worlds of music and wrestling — a relationship that helped Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation (now Entertainment) to become a dominant national force in the 1980s and solidified Albano's place on the pop-culture map.
Not surprisingly, a lot of Albano's work in the music world saw a crossover with MTV. The network has always had a friendly relationship with professional wrestling, airing various pieces of WWE programming over the past few decades (including...
