How would the modern world cope with the coming of a fallen angel? How would science and religion collide and what if a “scientist” was in the centre of it all? Those are the questions Chris Smith’s Consecration asks.
Grace (Jena Malone) is summoned to the Mount Saviour convent deep in the Scottish Highlands following the mysterious death of her priest brother. Refusing to believe he committed suicide, and determined to discover what really happened, Grace starts her own investigation as the nuns prepare a consecration ceremony to purify the holy site. Soon she inadvertently shines a light on murder, sacrilege and a disturbing truth, relating to the forgotten years of her own childhood, intertwined with that of the convent’s holy...

“Consecration” is something you hardly see anymore: a Catholic horror movie that isn’t about exorcism. Yet after decades of “Exorcist” knockoffs, moviegoers have been conditioned to anticipate the clichés of demonic possession. We expect them to be delivered, and in a certain way they always are. For moviemakers have been conditioned that way too.
Set in a remote seaside convent in the Scottish highlands, “Consecration” presents the audience with a sinister Mother Superior (Janet Suzman) who talks about God as if he were the devil. She leads a batch of young nuns who smile with too much cultish devotion (one wears an eyepatch because she dug her own eye out after she thought she saw Satan). We keep waiting for the other demonic shoe to drop — to see a nun possessed, or a group of them gathered in a secret ceremony to conjure the Beelzebub of their dreams. All...

"What is it that you think you know?" IFC Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie supernatural horror film titled Consecration, the latest from British genre filmmaker Chris Smith. This will be debuting in February in theaters, and on VOD in March if anyone is looking for a good scare. After the alleged suicide of her priest brother, Grace travels to the remote Scottish convent where he fell to his death. Distrusting the Church's account, she uncovers murder, sacrilege and a disturbing truth about herself. Jena Malone stars as Grace in this chilling Nun thriller. There's some freaky shots of the nuns looking sinister and suspicious, don't even want to go to this convent please. The film's cast includes Danny Huston, Janet Suzman, and Ian Pirie. This definitely does look creepy and disquieting, tons of disturbing scenes in here. Check it out. ›››

Sunset Song is renowned English director Terence Davies’ adaptation of Lewis Grassic Gibbon’s Scottish novel, a drama set in rural Scotland in the years just before and during World War I. Centered on a bright Scottish young woman named Chris, the film is a powerfully moving drama that is at once visually beautiful, in its depiction of the Scottish rural landscape, and realistic in its unblinking portrait of the harshness of working-class farm life and the devastating impact of war.
Agyness Deyn brilliantly plays the lead character, Chris Guthrie, whom we follow from her days as the brightest student in her rural school to her years as a young woman confronting the devastating horror of war from the home front. Chris is a girl who dreams of poetry and of becoming a teacher, and her kind-hearted mother Jean (Daniela Nardini) dotes on her gifted daughter,...

Da Vinci's Demons has been kind of problematic for me throughout its third season thus far. It seems like everything is different, all the ideas of the first two seasons are just scrambled up to make everything a muddled, grey mess. Are the Sons of Mithras the bad guys? Are the Labyrinth bad guys? Sure, when you look at the surface, it's the bad guys like Carlo Medici and Riario involved in the Labyrinth and the Sons of Mithras have Leo's old ally Al-Rahim Aka The Turk (Alexander Siddig) and the true pope, Francesco (James Faulkner). However, one side is fighting to defend Italy and the other wide is actively assaulting and killing the people of the peninsula and by extension the Catholic Church.

"I am not frightened of you!" The official UK trailer has debuted for Terence Davis' new period romantic drama Sunset Song, about a daughter of a Scottish farmer coming of age during the early 1900s. Agyness Deyn stars as Chris Guthrie, and it's told as a sort of a triptych, with one segment focusing on her abusive father, the next when she meets and falls in love and eventually marries Ewan, played by Kevin Guthrie; finally, he goes off to fight in World War I and comes back shellshocked and violent, resembling her father. The cast includes Peter Mullan, Jack Greenlees, Niall Greig Fulton and Ian Pirie. This looks very powerful. The gangster film is a staple part of the British cinema diet. Who can resist watching a few dodgy geezers shooting each other, whilst trading witty insults and still finding time for some banter and birds in between? Whilst the format of the genre has remained largely the same over the years, it was refreshed in the modern day through Guy Ritchie, who made a few solid films that have a fond place in the heart of many a cinema goer. The downside of this, however, is that it inspired an array of copycat films, from filmmakers who simply thought that jumping on the band wagon by adopting a certain style meant instant success. Enter Who Needs Enemies, perhaps the biggest culprit of them all.
This atrociously written, lazy film may as well be a collection of outtakes from every gangster film ever made, with scenes thought too poor to...

This one is also known as Hummingbird on U.K. soil, and then transfered to Redemption, for some or other reason, other than the obvious of what the film's about. As if we couldn't get it. Well. at least this one's more interesting, and colorful and the other somewhat boring posters we've added for the film. Also with Ian Pirie, Vicky McClure, Siobhan Hewlett, Benedict Wong, Senem Temiz and Lee Asquith-Coe., Hummingbird stars Statham as a damaged ex-Special Forces soldier on the run from a military court martial who navigates London's criminal underworld, and seizes an opportunity to assume another man's identity -- transforming into an avenging angel in the process.
