Had a good run as a solo artist in the late Eighties/early Nineties
with two soul-inspired albums to his credit: the eponymous debut (1985)
and 1988's "Wish".
His biggest solo hit was "A Good Heart" (1985), written by Maria McKee,
produced by David A. Stewart (of Eurythmics-fame) and co-arranged/orchestrated
by Michael Kamen.
Lead singer of Irish punk rock/new wave band The Undertones. The group
disbanded in 1983, but got together again in the early 2000s touring
European clubs.
He was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2019 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to Music.
